- 2024 is here and we do have some updates to get to you all that have been following along! BUT I wanted to incorporate this time lapse video in for those that may not want to catch up on all the videos we have published of the house! Watching this video makes me happy to see so much progress! For you all on the outside looking in it may seem like we"ll be finished this by 2030 but we are extremely BUSY people that are building this OUT OF POCKET (MORTGAGE FREE) and don't have all the time in the world to dedicate soild weeks to the build! SO with that being said, lets get to finishing this log cabin home! #logcabin #cabin #cabinbuild #offgrid #homestead #offgridliving

What a great time-lapse! This place will outlast any modern stick built home by a century easily! Seems like we get pounded by gale force winds on the back side of every low pressure system here in Maine lately. Keep up the incredible work! ✌️
Keenan has definitely done overkill everywhere he can! He tries to talk it through with me like I’m going to tell him otherwise 😂 our “phrases” during this build has been “do it” “it’ll be fine” “that’s not going anywhere” 😂
@@AGirlFromMaine The Maine seal of approval "that ain't goin' nowhere." 😂
You guys are going to be so happy out there and will look around sitting in your living room with great satisfaction that it was your blood sweat, tears, and some 😊 swears that got you there. 😊
We can’t wait for that part honestly, but are also trying to take in the right now 😅
Job well done…I can’t wait for the next video….greetings from down under Australia…stay safe n warm guys!
Thank you for watching!
Wow! your Home is looking Awesome! GOD' Bless your whole family. Amen
Thank you!
I hope you make a lot of precious memories with that log cabin with your beautiful family. Enjoy. Have fun.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You’re going to have a killer bonfire when this is over. That pile of slabs is huge!
I’m hoping to resource some of them and then yes! Hopefully a small “cabin warming party” with a big bonfire is needed!
Thanks for sharing
Very smart couple!!!
Great Teamwork
With that mound of mill tailings you will need a sawbench to turn most of that into usable lumber for other projects around the cabin like cupboard framing and doors
We have many ideas in repurposing it! But also plan to sell some for extra cash! It’s even bigger now as the last you see of it in this video was many months ago!
Awesome build.
This should be a Redbull commercial!!! 👍
Good decision buying the logs. Saved tons of time!
We were so bound and determined to have all the wood come off the land but also need a home so we were able to make good friends with the local logging company, they helped us out tremendously! So part of the wood is from our land and the other is from Baxter State Park, which is still pretty cool!
Love your channel just started watching a month ago or so.
Welcome to the shitshow!! Thanks for watching and being here 😁
She's funny, and her man is a man!! Great couple. I have such respect for these two. It's contagious to keep fallowing them, on the road to happiness.
Well done for building together💓

I once watched somebody shaving the bark off a tree like you who slipped and took a chunk out of their kneecap!
Wouldn’t having the logs just butted up to each other lead to gaps over time? Not well versed in this, but just seems intuitive to have some sort of overlapping joint?
I wonder, where is the insulation between the logs?
Once the house settles we will go around and chink in between the longs from the outside. Then the wood is our insulation.
Muy bella la ayudante ❤ no das asesoria🎉
Tie downs to foundation?
No our ground moves a lot every year, this way it’s much easier to adjust if I have to without messing with the concrete footer, the vertical 8by 8s are lagged to the horizontal 8 by8s and those are lagged with 14 inch log fasteners to the 4by6 floor framing.

I'm most concerned about a storm blow over or worse.
@@raycaster4398 I’ve seen a lot worse fountains up here in the woods hold for a long time and many storms, also the videos you see don’t show all the lags and timber fasteners and braces used. Emily does her best to record but isn’t always available so a lot gets left out.
An interesting idea of exterior design. A good tool. Friendly work. I'm sorry, but in 2-3 years you will be very upset because you put the tree like a brick. All the technologies of working with wooden materials are violated - asad result is inevitable. From Russia with love.
Seeing your mill ends makes me wonder if you are going to burn it, or yours gonna yous it for fire wood, or possibly trim or finish on the cabin.just asking.
We plan to use some of it for trim, we’ve cut up some of it for fire wood and to sell for fire wood. I have a listing for it right now on Facebook marketplace to come take it all or $1 a slat.
