His Dad John Casablancas died in 2013 which was obviously a major influence on the song Human Sadness. He clearly has unresolved feelings about his deceased Dad, which is pretty sad in my opinion.
Human sadness was my favorite until I heard this, this song is ridiculously relatable, no matter how much older I get there seems to be a part of me that feels like a teenager, constantly realizing life isn't what it turns out to be, and how much I miss my high school friends, but at the same time I look back on how toxic it was to be around them
"well i'm sorry that, sorry dad, sorry that i can't forget" I had a feeling this line was about his dad even though it just sounded like he was saying sorry that x3. This might just be me projecting my own feelings but I've always felt that Julian's dysfunctional relationship with his dad has had a huge affect on him and I can hear it in most songs, whether it's the Strokes, his solo stuff or his music with the Voidz. Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm just looking for it because it makes me feel like someone feels the same way, but I've been listening to them for 13 years now and it's the thing that draws me to them; the sadness. I don't know.
@@manillascissor his dad was famous. They had a bad relationship, because his dad was never there for him. In human sadness he made that song after his dad passed away I believe, and in a few other songs with the strokes. I think he made about his father, but he does not make it so obvious.
@@manillascissor no problem, and I hate to make you sad, but look up the lyrics to chances by the strokes, and the song. It's as if he pretended to make it about a girl, and cover up the fact that he was actually talking about his father.
My head is too full of music, but he still manages to get me. Still fresh, still original, still hip, still cool. Condenses and modernizes what was cool in the past, jumping from genre to genre. (much like the Beatles)
this song scratches the exact itch i had for more like the bridge from the strokes' "drag queen" where jules goes "i cannot believe my eyes/ darling i can tell you lies". i adored that part and i adore this song. i love the croons, the not quite-singing, and the lyrics that sound like truths the more you think about them.
Sometimes I get sad that the strokes don't make new music, but I am glad Julian casablancas still makes solo, and with the voidz I support him in whatever he does. My favorite singers. I hope someday he sees this comment :) he sings his heart out. On of a kind.
Secondly you're in no position to tell Julian Casablanca who #1 owns cult records and #2 the front man for The Voidz, how to produce a fragment of his album
🙆 Luv it!i listened to this track every day sometimes in single repeat mode..on my way and back home...when i do all my paperworks...and yes it works...
Hace poco te ví junto a Beck en un video, haciendo un cover de Don't You Want Me del genial grupo The Human League... y estuviste SENSACIONAL!!!!! (((((JULES))))) ♡😎🔥🔥🔥😍💖
"well i'm sorry that, sorry dad, sorry that i can't forget"
That is proper sad.
BlackPhoenix 72 woah I read this right as Julian was singing it
I always thought it said “sorry that”, now I’m sad

On a side note, where is ALieNNatioN?
Pointlessness is the best in my opinion
This album is unbelievable. I never thought I would enjoy The Voidz, but it's everything I want in experimental music.
This album came out at a point in my life where I needed it, especially this song..
billythekid I’ve never been so touched by a comment as hard as yours just did to me ...
billythekid enjoy it then ❤️
the fanbase needs you!
billythekid, me too

I've felt the same way, to be honest.
that's very insightful of you. i'm new to his music, what's the deal with his dad?

friggin love that 60s feel in the beginning 😏

Ever since I found out it was ‘sorry dad,’ I almost can’t listen to this song. Makes me feel immense pain for Jules. I hope he’s okay wherever he is.
bruh this song was sad enough. the dad angle kills me bro

@NewWaveFreak 1988 I disliked it because you're right I actually think it's leave it it my dreams wink then this song
@Katzen König I think you should shut up and not bring The Strokes Into the voidz

Well this is the best song in history to date.. Love how versatile you are. I dedicate this song to my Mom..
The “aah”s in the chorus...heck yeah. This is a full, proper banger man.
Esse álbum foi amor à primeira vista. Queria uma liryc oficial da "Leave It in my dreams" também.
