I did a road trip with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and we listened to this album during the trip. When this song started the air was blowing on my face, the landscape around us was breathtaking, the sky was beautifully blue and suddenly all my adult problems, my chronic depression and a world on crisis just vanished for a few minutes. I felt younger and free. Almost eternal. The most glorious, happiest 6:17 minutes of my life.

It's definitely the best song on the album. Julian's vocals are fantastic and varied, great tempo changes, interesting lyrics, excellent guitar work, and the drums just hit a groove that makes you tap along. I also love the how different the second half of the song is from the first, taking on a darker tone.

Is This It and Room on Fire are probably better. I’d say it’s better than First Impressions and it’s easily better than Angels and Comedown Machine (no hate towards those records though but they’re just not as good)

I get misty eyed because my friend died in a gutter recently, if he wasn't a hopeless addict he'd have made more music like this. His voice was great, had range from screaming to crooning, I have the only copy of his album, I'll upload it eventually.
I first heard this song high and lemme just say that it felt eternal, but the good kind of eternal. It’s mellifluous af.

Criminally underrated this one
This album reminds me of when quarantine was at its peak. Everyone stuck inside, everything closed, all that not so fun stuff. I was in 8th grade, we didn’t do zoom or anything so all my assignments were just posted on Google classroom. I would listen to this album every single day. My sister who is now in her senior year of college was home for a few months and the day before she left we were playing catch in the backyard with this song on. It sucks because i know after college I will rarely see her and I try to spend as much of my time with her as i can. I have a deep connection with this album and this song especially. God Bless The Strokes, this album is 10/10, truly magnificent
That night we were passing a ball around with our lacrosse sticks, dad was grilling, the sun was setting with a beautiful color over the horizon. This song came on next and the euphoria I felt was just unmatched. I only listen to this song on special occasions because of how much it means to me. Thank you The Strokes for giving us this album in a time when it was truly needed.
I had Zoom meetings, but I never did them most of the time.
I know how you feel man, when both my sisters left for university, then covid happened and we were all locked in, I felt like I lost them, and of course I don’t blame them. But it also makes seeing them on a rare occasion beautiful, I hope you see your sister often.

@@kevincmejia pretty sure no one follows a music critic for their opinion (unless you're a really crazy stan), it's more of the fact that he's way too critical that people view him (regardless of if they hate him or not), and that can either be good or bad depending on who views his content. If you think his opinions are shit, that's totally fine, I hardly disagreed on his opinion regarding Linkin Park's One More Light tbh (albeit that album being their weakest release), it's much more interesting to discuss something about music anyway when you have some or most disagreements with their statement cause it keeps the conversation going.
He just wants to feel special going against something most love.
This is why I like listening to albums for myself and forming my own opinions. Fantano only has as much influence as you give him.

This sounds like the Stroke’s take on today’s summer/spring pop music. That funky wave music vibe yanno. Even the term “endless summer” is somewhat of a pop trope. Julian even says “this is a fantasy.” It’s refreshing, and the ironic thing is that I’d say it is the most likely song on the album to get played on the radio. I love it

This song made me cry, i don't know why, is a "good vibes song" but the parts when his voice went deeper in the chorus "ignore reality" "i need a friendly face" gets me every time

Is that really Julian singing throughout this whole song? I mean, there isn't a second singer? that falsetto sounds like someone else singing, now I know he's the only one, but at first, I thought it was someone else, which is impressive.
