  • Hey everyone / Salut à tous!!
    In this tutorial we make a retro cane from an extruder rolled out flat for mokume slicing. We make some pendants and a tube bail from a second retro cane. I also show you how I sand and buff my pieces.
    Materials used:
    - Clay:
    1) Cernit pink gold
    2) Sculpey pomegranate with a little Cernit rust
    3) Sculpey bronze
    4) Scupley Alizarin Crimson with a bit of bronze and a touch of Cernit pearl.
    5) Cernit black, white & translucent
    - Extruder
    - Pasta Machine
    - Tissue blade
    - Circle cutters
    Wrapped Bail I used on pendants: • Wrapped Pendant & Earr...

    Hey guys, future me here! I realise where I was going wrong on the tube bail. I should have laid the cane slices vertically with columns of 4, not horizontally in rows of 4. That is why the blocks kept distorting. My apologies and I hope you read this before if you make one 😳

    The colors in the pieces are extraordinarily beautiful. Your attention to detail is exceptional, the results are simply beautiful. Thank you for sharing your awesome talent, you are a great teacher and artist. It's so great to see someone taking the additional time as you did to make the perfect pieces instead of rushing through the creation process. Your work is incredible.

      Thank you 🥰 I don't note colour recipes and can never make the same colour twice. 'A touch of ...' is all I can say but I think that's good so people can make their own unique colour.

    Hey Keilan, je viens de te découvrir et suis _in awe_ de ce que tu produis 👌🏼
    Ça m’amuse beaucoup de t’entendre passer d’une langue à l’autre car je fais la même chose. :)
    J’ai lu ton intro. Puis-je suggérer de traduire « Wearable Art » en « Art à Porter ». Ça sonne mieux, non?
    All the best 🤗

    I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial! Ideas are flying through my head! 😂 when you used the larger buffer, what is that wheel made out of? Thank you!

    • @keipfr
      @keipfr  5 місяців тому

      Thank you 🥰 The small one is standard for Dremel and made of wool, and will give you a decent shine. The desktop polisher has cotton wheels, thats what gives the highest possible shine!

      Thank you Margaret 🥰 It's actually a die I had made to emboss my logo on metal tags for my macramé pieces. It's very heavy! I had it made on Etsy and can provide the link if you like.

    Do you use any wax or buffing compound or just the alcohol?

    • @keipfr
      @keipfr  5 місяців тому

      Hey Marcie, I use alcohol to clean any dust off the piece before buffing and polishing, and don't use any wax. I don't think wax makes much of a difference, and don't have the money to fork out for it. You could use the tiniest amount of NIVEA cream as an alternative if you wanted to. There's no mastering of this mokume technique, it's very forgiving unlike other techniques. I'm going to do another tutorial in a week or so using my favourite technique I think you will like, and is good for beginners 🥰

    DO YOU BAKE THE BAILS ON THE BUNA CORD?

    • @keipfr
      @keipfr  Місяць тому

      No. Buna cords are rubber and will probably melt in the oven. You can put a leather cord in a tube bail to help keep a curved shape if you like, and it’s fine to go in the oven.
