I have both: Chanel lambskin and caviar and that’s true: lambskin is not that delicate, especially in black or dark colour, but my choice is 100% caviar because I love the look of it and the durability. It’s a care free leather and you can enjoy a caviar bag whenever and wherever you want.
First UA-camr that doesn’t prefer caviar, and about lamb being THE Chanel leather you are absolutely right, it was more expensive because caviar was introduced due to customers requesting grained leather, Chanel og’s know that lamb is better quality
I love lambskin because it feels so leathery if that makes sense. Caviar is so treated that it feels fake. Lambskin has that sheen and soft touch and natural creases that make the leather look super plump. Not sure how to describe lol.
💯 agree with all your points. I have 2 classic flaps, one is lambskin and the other is caviar. That lambskin takes my breath away every time I reach for it. My caviar is definitely more practical and more casual. Love them both but man that lambskin is everything 🖤 Amazing and very informative video as always.
I think lamb skin is so smooth but I been trying to buy one here in Dallas Tx but they don’t have the classic black in gold hardware metallic jumbo in lamb skin so for that I’m gonna have to fly to LA Costa Mesa plaza mall Nd buy it there. I’m also considering the medium size in caviar.
I think it’s all depending on what you wear. I live in a dry and warm climate, I wear much cotton light and white color clothings. Lambskin CF goes better with my outfit, especially when wearing crossbody. Caviar is also very nice, looks great with jeans and dark color clothes. My first Chanel classic in 2014 was caviar in black with shw. I ended up selling it a couple years later, as I just wasn't into it; seemed like plastic, and was difficult to open. Funny enough for some reason I’ve always been a lamb skin lover, even though I’ve never known there was a preference in the bag world. Plus I can’t even afford one of these bags but for some reason the lambskin is just soooo buttery smooth and seems so classy to me that I just LOOOOVE the texture and look of it. I mean I have nothing against caviar, I’ll take whatever anyone gifts me but I will def. spend my money on the lambskin first if I could. 🙂

I bought a 15 year old lambskin bag from fashionphile. It really looks great except it has some major creasing on the bottom under the flap. I sent it to leather surgeons and they gave it back it’s structure but flattened the quilts in that area. Still looks great but I would say over time creasing could be a problem in lambskin. If you fix it you loose the beautiful quilts wahhh. Still love my bag though!!

I live in the tropics, I really want my first Chanel bag to be lamb skin but I’m kinda scared cus we only have raining season and dry season and sometimes it’s just to humid. I don’t get my nails done to often only for special occasions and when I do get them done they are always long

I have sold two classic flaps in caviar (the colours I wanted were unfortunately only available in caviar) simply because every time I looked at them in proper lighting (not the dim Chanel boutique lighting!) they looked like cheap "fake" bags from China. Older lambskin is better. I feel like some of the lambskin these days is even starting to look a little rubbery and tacky. Great review. LOVE your channel xx

Lambskin will age better and it will be easier to polish it back to its original state if you send to a bag restoration shop. Pigment will fade on the caviar bit and it will look worn
