    This is convincing stuff including the sleeve. Brave new (AI) world?

    • @ShadowbannedSounds
      @ShadowbannedSounds  13 днів тому +1

      @skidco1 apparently so, but it still requires someone with talent behind the scenes, controlling it, guiding it, editing it... but, I have feeling a day will come when AI will no longer need creative input from someone like me, at which point I guess there is no point. But I'm enjoying the process right now. Thanks for checking out the video. Much more on the horizon :)

    • @skidco1
      @skidco1 13 днів тому +1

      @@ShadowbannedSounds I guess we'd all like to know how much is human input and how much is AI, is it a 50/50 split at the moment or is weighted one way or the other?

    • @ShadowbannedSounds
      @ShadowbannedSounds  13 днів тому

      @@skidco1 That depends on how hard the person works on the song, and how much actual outside experience they have with making music. Much like when Photoshop first hit, you had people, many non-artists, who just went in threw a few layers together and applied some filters on an image and called it art, and then you had people who used photoshop as a sophisticated tool to further their craft. A similar approach can be taken with making AI music. The AI programs are pretty sophisticated (I'm using UDIO) and contain editing tools and an array of manipulation tools that give you control over the outcomes. I often find building an AI track is not unlike building a piece of music in music programs, stringing and mixing together various sound bites and samples to ultimately make a song. Keep in mind, something like UDIO generates 30 sec of music at of time, and does so within a number of parameters that you control, and need to do so creatively. Much of music will end up on the cutting room floor. What you omit is just as important as what you choose to keep, so having an ear for music, at the very least, is essential if you hope to create Ai music that stands out from the rest. Editing abilities are key too. I often find it necessary to cut clips down, sometimes as far down as a few seconds of sound to achieve what I want, and then occasionally additional edits can be done in the sound program of your choice. What alot of people don't realize is that the prompt portion in AI Music is not even that important, unlike when you are dealing with AI art, where it is the most important part of the process. All in all, for me at least, It's really just a different way of building music electronically, and a very exciting way at the moment. In the role as an AI music maker I'd say you are much more the conceptualizer, the composer, producer, lyricist, and editor, vs. being the actual person/and or people playing the instruments. The other thing I'll mention is the lyrics section. It's powerful. It doesn't just allow for lyrics but also the ability to to control the sound of the vocals. My best examples of this would be my latest track Yep - Just Hold On, where I explicit wrote in the commands to create all the harmonies, call response lines, overlapping vocals, offset vocals, whether the voices where high, low. Also effects on the voices like echo and delay. So again, the work you put into it is what you get out, like most things. Having said all that, I'd say it's more on the user to adequately guide the AI using any and all possible options to shape the music and bring about a well rounded, well constructed, convincing track. Anyway, a great question. Felt it deserved a thorough answer. I hope that at sheds a little more light on things.

    Really interesting music; is t available on CD or just to be loaded ? As having discovered and loved prog when it was making its models and forms around 69/72, I have listened and appreciated a lot of known and unknwon bands like Camel, KC, Gentle Giant, Affinity, etc... but my loce for that music decrease in the 2000's when bands seem to add some metal elements or playing the same music. In your music I hear a lot of influences and it is remembrering a lot of bands. It rememers when I listened Maxophone or Acqua Fragile. Maxophone was inspired by Gentle Giiant, Gryphon, Genesis but the melodies were very interesting and full of complex feelings. Acqua Fragile reminds Genesis but the melodies are really good. What you do is remembreing what Swedish band Agusa made, it is not "new" but it is much better (for me) than many bands who play the same prog and adds some metal soli, riffs.

    Not bad. Dan needs to turn up his guitar and drummer Pat Smitty needs to loosen up a little. Otherwise, more reminiscent of Gentle Giant than any of the other ‘70’s heavyweights. If I brought this home as a 1970’s teenager, it would have ranked somewhere below my Lake album.

      @ Thank you. AI only does part of the work... there's a great deal of manipulation, editing, I'm doing. It's very different than AI art. You actually have to be able to build a song intuitively. For that you can not depend on the AI. Hundreds of generations are tossed to find what i know id right for the song. It's not unlike building an electronic song in an audio program with sound samples. I'm sometimes cutting sounds down to mere seconds get what I want. This track took me about 18 hours to make. With Ai music, you more or less the composer/producer, sound, editor with some some amazing musicians at your disposal to guide. The prompt in AI Music is not all that important... it's how creatively you use the editing features and your knowledge of making music outside of AI that allows you to make a track that stands apart from the rest and, while being Ai, is also very much yours.
