A lot of rambling in this one as usual so if you need to skip through, feel free to use them :)
======================================================
Greetings and welcome to another installment in the iWish series, a series in which I purchase various questionable products to see if they are any good...most of the time they are not but I buy this stuff so you don't have to!
Except you folks also generously donated to see this on the channel, you are all mad lads and I love you all.
We found this console on one of my live streams and we said "It's an ROG Ally Clone!...kind of!"
It's more in a Steam Deck shape but with the lights like the ROG Ally.
We were interested to see what it could do for the asking price (at the time) of $75 AUD.
And well...it performed better than I expected.
I didn't watch any previous reviews of this device before my own but a lot of people have already covered this console so I am not sure if I bought anything new to the table with this or not.

I hope you enjoy the look at this because I rarely do gaming videos and I don't know if I should do more of them?

*Should I do more gaming videos? I have plenty of consoles but I am just not sure if people would want to see them. Let me know and I can add them to the do list!*
Thank you also to all the folks who donated to see this, I hope it was worth it!
I really do appreciate you lot for being so kind on the live streams with donations, I can't thank you all enough.
Let me know what you thought of this down below and if you may have any idea on how we can use Android on this.
Note that this is a different batch and doing the safe mode thing has been patched.

Would you be interested to come on to Retro Handhelds Stream? 🤩
Just wished the video was 60fps, any reason you are not uploading at 60fps?
Yes you should.
I just wonder, how do you unlock android? What programs do you use? W
How do you do that dumping files thing?
I think game consoles are a nice distraction from all the phones. I would like to see more :)
Would definitely love to see how this runs with custom frimware
sorry to be annoying but, you spelled firmware wrong.
>RK3326
Same banana as the second-generation LeapPad Academy and certain other Ambernic consoles. It supports Project Treble so you could certainly run GSIs on it as well. Though from my experience, Android 11 is the upper limit as anything higher than that lags even more on the poor RK3326.
Yeah, you can run Android but it can barely play simple 2d games. It's waaay worse than with Linux. But I think it is just a compatibility/optimization issue. Most of Rockchip powered SBCs can't too, like a few OrangePi models for example.
@@matheushp20 I can attest to that with the LeapPad Academy. PSP emulation is a struggle and UI responsiveness even on the stock firmware is crapshoot too.
My Friend a powkiddy user and he has 3 powkiddy device run the same chip
try add launcher apk to sdcard. break ui again via phone. get into file manager with sdcard only. install launcher. check if pressing home/back with keyboard show question what launcher want to use. if possible use launcher that have complete custom UI like custom notification/status bar. to allow open status bar get to setting. and enable developer and adb
The file manager he got into was I only picking a picture. It wouldn't open APK
As other videos have publicized, V2.0 does not have a way to install additional APKs
I have an idea to get into settings. When the app switcher is visible with calendar or contacts showing long press the app icon and then press the i and it will open app info. From there you can go to some other parts of settings and then use the search button
Also the reason the file manager didn't work when you were in contacts is that it was specifically picking a contact file. You can open the full file manager from storage settings.
Something you could try: using ADB to see if it has USB debugging enabled by default (some chinesium Android devices have it on by default), and use adb install to install a launcher in it like trebuchet
I doubt that since it doesn’t pop up on the pc
But it could work
a really interesting console, its fun to see something a bit different from once in a while!
Wow you actually add Philippines currency
Imagine whole South East Currency
He probably looked at the stats, but yay!
Need more Australian content like this to cover Asian market since we are closer to them.
I just got the GPD Win 4 and this thing reminds me of it so so much.
I don’t think you’d really get much more out of the device in terms of performance, even with a custom firmware.
The Anbernic RG554 is the second best Android gaming device available to date, but it’s $200. The Odin 2 is still the best, but it’s $299-$459 ($369 realistically).
Android is a resource hog, that's why they stripped it down to the bare minimum. Custom firmware would actually help quite a bit in emulating some of the more demanding systems like n64 and psp. With Amberelec which is already available for it, it might even run some Dreamcast games. This is a budget device for ~60€ though and nobody has said anything else. It's not made to compete with the higher end devices you mentioned
Great video, although missed the fabulous Miss Ripley, good fun to watch.
I would rather like to see some form of mad hacks stuff lol 😂
I remember having a Dingoo player back about 10 years ago. It was a decent little thing, but the custom firmware was what made it so much better. However, it was a headache to set it up. I had to go through a lot of hoops to get it done. I think I'd rather have a handheld that has a good system out of the box. I would get too frustrated with this lol!
Thanks for reviewing stuff so we don't have to waste money 🤑
Oh yeah, I remember the Dingoo. Never personally had one, but I rememvered watching a review by Stuart Ashen about it when he still had hair.
yea i think i'll stick with my Odin, these things are just way to "janky" with very little ability to change things, and the weird thing is with this running Android, is this running RetroArch? what emulators is this thing actually using and you can't get into the emulator settings?
This with the custom firmware seems like quite a very good performance/price thing
Constant Victory Support better than no victory support
FBA is a multi-arcade emulator. Final Burn Alpha . Great review
Something that should NOT have been sold on here, but is.
Yeah, Final Burn Alpha, if you didn't know, was only meant for Non-Commercial purposes (ala using at home), but people find a way to sell stuff with the emulator bundled in. Koch Media and Capcom didn't even bother having their own emulator for the Capcom Home Arcade and instead used Final Burn Alpha, which they're not supposed to do.
Have you tried increasing the volume , and while the volume window has poped up - press the arrow down icon with your mouse. There should be volume controls for media...etc and settings icon on the left...
Excellent vid. Was planning on getting this in black but it seems way to cheap and locked down to much also.
Great content, thanks!
Half steam deck, half ROG ally, ALL ASS, baby!
Well, at least they used their whole ass this time.
Beautiful screen, good competito to the trimsmart ui, this is 25 bucks cheaper in my country.
12:36 when im on trips this is literally how i use my steam deck with my keyboard and mouse from home except i use my wallet bc it can fold open like a teepee
I appreciate the additional currencies
I have the exact same USB Dongle thing
I wonder if you can get a windows car head unit . I'd love that . Shitbox 98 Rolla + windows ...
does windows ce count?
@@novafurry yeah , you got a link ?
@@s6edge7 a channel called little car did a vid on an official Microsoft/ Clarion one, otherwise smoorez also has a video on a GPS that uses it
FBA is Final Burn Alpha, a well known emukator mainly used to play Capcom Play System arcade games, and is a victim of having it's emulator being used for commercial purposes despite it clearly saying otherwise.
yooooo iwish
has no web browser, so you could download a explorer and launcher?
on that way I was able to install all android apks on my china car radio I need
FNF Tutorial Song in the New Difficulty Mode be like: 11:00
You should try the trimu smart pro remember to update it's firmware when you get it
Ramen noodles
MAD HAX IT MAD HAX IT!!
its entertaining
7:42 I've been noticing a ton of Chinese companies registering GmbH entities with German addresses as an on paper only company. I think they're trying to bank off of the whole German = Quality thing, despite including all of the Chinese manufacturing information...
EVATmaster is for VAT tax and import duties. The Germany office is just to handle inquires and issues with import tax and whatnot. If you look up their website they're pretty transparent about it.
But yeah, i think they add the address to try and add some credibility to the product but they are a chinese company with various european office locations.
Next you should add The pesos for mexico
I live in mexico and I'm a big fan of your channel it's very entertaining
me 2 mate, I agree we need mxn conversion. But it sounds like 1k pesos so not that bad
do you not have google?
It even looks cheap and clunky!I could see maybe $15 at your local Dollar General!
The deck ally
wHAT YOU ADDED BRL
Idea how to break in android: boot in recovery, wipe data factory reset (if it's configured badly, it might wipe all its data)
That battery does look like it could be a 5000mah battery to me. Worst case scenario i think it would be a 4000mah but that battery is exactly the same size as my 5000mah poco x3 battery, i actually think it may be a little larger.
You have an access to the contents of the SD Card. Just put there a launcher so you can install a launcher, also it will ask you if you allow installation of apk files from unknown sources, so you can access settings this way.
3600mah at 5V = 18 Watt-hours
5000mah at 3.6V = 18 Watt-hours
Yeah checks out, companies love to use the bigger number. It's why I love seeing recent products with capacities listed in Wh instead of mAh.
No Telefang 😢.
My Powkiddy x39 pro it's pretty good for a price of $49. It emulates PS1 pretty well too.
wait what if u clicked the volume thing with mouse and got intro general settings
I know this has nothing to do with the topic, but when you said "it feels mushy" and pronounced it, i had to laugh, because in the language of my country, it sounds Like "Muschi", which is a slang word for female reproductive organs.
Question, does the OTG have HDMI out? it was advertised.
Please review "HP Pre 3 WebOS Mobile Phone".
I'd never heard anyone call it the "N Six Four", always just heard and referred to it as "N Sixty Four" o:
If I'm not wrong, I believe I read from a comment on another video from the actual company who made this, that they're coming out with one that will have a touch screen and full android.
try this custom firmware ! custom always the best ! I bet you could setup screen 4:3 / 16:9 / Fit to screen size in this firmware. Soo , yeah , we all wanna see this thing with custom firmware !
11:00 is that the infamous Bluetooth Speaker Lady?
Unfortunately the RK3326 with 1gb of ram cannot run android. there are quite a few other RK3326 os's you could try though.
I think megadrive was a fail due to sound issues in the emulation 😀 , They never seem to be able to get it right.
The voice notation sounds just like that chinese lady that says "The Bluetooth dewice is ready to pær"
*Brutooth
Oh well that is clearly a 3800 MAH battery. I worked in the battery industry for 20 years, and can tell just by looking at them. Joking, if anyone tells you that they are lying! LOL. I didn't work in the battery industry for 20 years, but I think your guess is probably pretty close.
as the video owner mentioned
This is V2.0, the factory has locked more apk installation parts
As other videos have publicized, V2.0 does not have a way to install additional APKs
if there's a will, there's a way
if only the screen was as bright as the LEDs
i can say that if you have a psp around (i do have the 3000 or street) you can pretty much emulate every retrò console, just flash a firmware, copy some games and go. or if you have even a potato pc (like the one i had before) you can even emulate more powerful consoles as well so this is pretty much useless.
Hopefully you will add MYR (Malaysian Ringgit) Currency Smoorez
Anyone else get 10 minutes into the video and order one from Aliexpress? 🤣
more gaming
Just wait until the E6 Plus comes out! 💪😤👌
It's trying to be ROG Ally.
I'd like to see these type of emulators run on older tablets. I've got a couple here that work great and are on android 4 so pretty useless for anything nowadays apart from emulation. Maybe even run emulators on old laptops, I've got a couple of those as well🤣
SNES emulation is usually fine even on older tablets. You could try for yourself.
Cheese steak 🤔
not gonna lie this console is better than ROG Ally with how bad Asus want you pay.
Hey hi
AUD is almost half the value of GBP? i was surprised lol
Anbernic is really hit and miss when it comes to quality and their customer service isn't any good. I have a 552 sitting doing nothing because the touchscreen doesn't work and I need it for Android apps and games.
My Ayn Odin Lite though.. it's fantastic.I play PSP and render it at 3x for most games, I play PSP games better than it plays on the PSP.
Also, if you put Moonlight on it and Sunshine on your PC you can stream games to Android consoles.. which is fantastic, you can even stream higher end emulation to the handheld.
Add polish lies (PLN) to the currency list
Use Adb Shell
if debug is enabled. it probably isn't
fill up the storage with screenshots and see if it stops working right lol
why do they still call them tf cards?
Genuinely curious, why do you call it “N six four” & not “N sixty four” @SMOOREZ It’s not a problem, it’s just odd?
The “64” in “N64” denotes that it is partially 64Bit.
Also as a fan of the PSP Need for Speed games I can honestly say, that’s not running OK. 😄
Fba is final burn alpha
An emulator that shouldn't have been sold on here due to it being a non-commercial emulator.
I found what's FBA
Where is the HDMI????
See if you can put windows on it
U should also add PLN currency if all of these aren't enough :v
Pomnóż se dolar przez 4
you can convert with google
That’s wierd
try custmo firmwarey
The only good thing about this device is how big is the screen.
ayy its me that noticed it runs android! foolish enough of them to show that!
MOD MOD MOD
RK3326 never dies
Can you review the following smartphone:
DOOGEE N55 Pro?
put bangladeshi taka in the currency chart lol
Please add PLN polish zloty currency :)
A gaming handheld running Android but without a powerful ARM cpu to support it? Sounds like it was made for SMOOREZ
But for real, Why is this RK3326 handheld running android? Pretty much every other OGA/ BitBoy/R35/R36s clone with the same Rockchip RK3326 is running a Custom linux with emulationstation and retroarch. I can't see the benefit of running with the extra overhead of Android with no extra benefits.
Sidenote my R36S runs N64 so much faster despite having the same CPU, I can even Fast-forward on Banjo-Tooie which is not an easy feat especially without texture issues.
Colors matter with USB cables.
Teal, Purple and Violet = basically means USB 3.1 high watt fast charging and 10 Gbit per second connection
Er… that’s only partially correct. Teal is the only color listed that is part of that standard.
Black: USB 2.0
Blue: 3.0
Teal: 3.1
Red: 3.2
Yellow: could be either 3.1 or 3.2 but is “always on”
Next time you get one of these, try getting Winlator on it. You can literally play Windows games - well, some of them - with it. Can it run Crysis?
Tbh why does this exist when my POCO M4 Pro can do the same level of emulation, and I can buy a £3 backbone style controller for my phone and run these with retro arch or ppsspp (which I do), sure I bought it new for £150 but who's phone isn't that powerful in 2024, I bought it 2, almost 3 years ago, kinda making this obsolete, you'll also be able to run DS on a phone. So imo it's kinda just a waste.
Please review the incell phone from temu. It claims to have 5 cameras, a 6.7" display and 4G
If I had a kid, I'd buy this for him/her. seems decent for the price you're paying
TechImma1st
Don't take my comments seriously. It's only a meme
Just use smartphone
It's just an emulation device. That's ALL....
what did you expect
The word ally is pronounced with a full Y, not like the name.
Why does the thumbnail look so crap?
I want something that i ca. Use and play my android games
I care less about those old Emulator games
Please stop pretending like the search engine terms are the name of the device. You know it's not.
