- Hopefully this helps with a frustrating issue. I think personally it is caused by the interior handle not being used often and then becoming gunked up at the lock end of the cable and making the mechanism sticky.

Brilliant, didn't take anything off, just squirted wd40 in and kept pulling the external and internal handles for a bit and shazam! Sorted. Thanks mate!
Ok, so yesterday when I saw your video, I figured you had solved my problem, my issue was taking the door card off, (I was worried I would damage it), so I drowned the locking mechanism with WD-40 and left it there over night, I was kind of hoping a miracle would happen before this morning, 🤦, anyway, I was just about to start taking the door card off, when I had a thought, and thanks to your video, it has worked, I don't know if drowning the lock in WD-40 actually helped, but what I did was kept pulling and releasing the outside door handle, quickly, and next thing I heard the little click in the door, and bingo.....ok I know it's not "fixed", but thanks to you and your video, I can put off till another day, something I thought I was stuck doing today 😂😂👍 thanks again for video .
Brilliant mate, have been putting up with this for a long time, mine all electric but the same fix has worked a treat, took it to the garage but they did not fix it, they said it was all about the row on electrical contacts on the door frame. Thanks again, Howard
These are £100 on eBay to replace!
I owe you a pint, did exactly this and it’s sorted. Thanks
Fabulous! thank you! that sorted it :-) Hardest part was getting those pesky single use door card plastic clips out. After that took just a few minutes to fix. Mine is an '08 model, so I think all the old grease starts to set a bit hard after a number of years and cold weather. Problem door was one I hardly ever use, so doesn't get much chance to keep the mechanism moving.
Amazing mate, thanks for posting this, had me proper confused did this and was so pleased to find this solution. Saved me 120 GBP for a new one also. Thanks again.
Both the rear sliding doors on my 2008 Vito had this issue, I followed your advice, Thank you so much, cos it had been driving me mad. BUT 😊, having taken the door off, to remove the door card, and following your instructions, I put everything back together and all was good for about 5 open/close and then it was back to not closing....I cried, over two hard hours labour in the sun 😭.... (Another) BUT, in my frustration, I had an idea..... I loosened the three torx holding in the locking mechanism as much as I could without going all the way and pushed the locking mechanism into the door, so it was maybe 1/4 inch (6mm) from the hole in door, and I drowned it in wd40 (again), tightened up the torx again, and gave the edge of the door, where locking mechanism is three sharp taps with a rubber mallet.... And bingo, it's working since. I went to my other door, loosened the three torx on that, pushed the locking mechanism away from the hole, drowned in WD 40, left it 3 minutes, put another few sprays in for good luck, tightened up the torx again, tapped with rubber mallet three time, and I kid you not, the door that hasn't worked for about a year is working, ok I don't know how long it will work, but I do know, if it happens again, I have a good chance to sort it in less than 5 minutes 😜😂👍🏼
I would never have worked it out. Fantastic fix thanks so much.
Amazing fix, thank you, worked like a dream.
Thanks for posting, great help
Discribed my issue to a tee. Going to give it a go, will let you know how I get on 👍
Top man , just fixed mine
very good video thanks for sharing
Amazing! It kept happening when temperature dropped. Thanks
Same here, this winter. Then just stuck completely. All sorted now :-)
just took mine off, door card on a lwb is a pain but got it in the end. knocking it around a bit just from taking it off it seemed to pop back into place so a load of WD40 and back on... sorted.
I've got my mechanism out to work on but my latch doesn't hold like on this video. Just springs back. Can't work out if that's a different problem or it's the problem we're trying to fix here. 😢
UPDATE: Put it back together again and door is latching and opening fine again. So I'd say don't worry to much if your latch doesn't behave exactly as on this video. Give everything a good soak in WD40 and make sure that wee plastic pin moves freely. That should be enough.
Worked for me,great video cheers mate 👌But the other door won't open from outside only from inside 😢any ideas? Thanks again 😊
Hard to say! Could be the electrical contacts on the B pillar are dirty? Usually that's only a locking issue but could be related.
I've no idea how you got this out?!
Hello, I got a problem about alert sign of the door is still open even if it’s closed already
How can I fix it? My car is w639 Vito
