ok but this is way too little for a 600 quid machine. 150x150x150 build plate is ridiculous. The design looks old and tacky, as if it was one of the first printers commercially made. The print speed of 160mm/s is extremely slow nowadays, compared to 500mm/m from bambulabs, 600mm/s from creality and 1200mm/s from flsun, and it apparently goes slower, for 'better results'. The touchscreen seems cluncky and 2015 like. It has a flexible bed, a industry standard, but its a pc coated bed. PEI steel sheets are the way to go. Your prints look good, but some others that i've seen online seem to have layer shifts, and ringing and such. The reason i suspect it prints a raft, if because the bed isnt perfectly levelled and the raft compensates for that. ABS cabablity is basically useless, this machine doesnt seem to have any air filter or extraction, and therefore isnt safe to be printed around kids.
Overall, i think its quite expensive and not really worth it, for comparison, you can get much more advanced machines at that price point like a P1S from Bambulabs or a K1, these arent marketed for kids, but i wouldnt see a problem with allowing kids to use them. I feel like it will get damadged easily and is way behind in tech. I wouldnt get one, and i wouldnt reccomend anyone else get one, but thats just my opinion. If you want one, get one, but i think it's important that you know that there are other, and arguably better, options out there.

I agree that for someone who understands 3D printing or is willing to learn you can get better for much cheaper. This printer is really for complete beginners without any experience and who want something super easy. Compared to some of the other “3D printers for kids” it has some advantages. Also, it’s a lot cheaper in the US it seems!

@@everythingSTEM i understand, but personally i wouldnt reccomend this, i'd reccomend a babmulab or k1, and reddit to help you XD

    no leveling ? no z offset ??

I was very skeptical but you do not have to calibrate! I’ve read several other reviews too who had great results with no calibration. Impressive.

@@everythingSTEM but the thing doesn't even do an auto leveling to create a mesh of the bed so how does it work

@@josefsteiner9401 I have the X Maker. I've calibrated it. It uses a guided 9-point system, with a spacing card - it lets you set the center point as a reference, and then moves around to the other points one at a time and you set the z height (of the print head) for each point by moving the head up and down through the touch screen menu.
The calibration is fast and easy and works great, and produces perfect first layers (seriously).
I also printed one of those "torture toasters" - dropped the STL into the Aoseed X-Print slicer, set it to the finest pre-set, used one of the sample PLA filaments that came with the printer, sent the file to the printer from my desktop to the printer in the basement shop by wifi [yes, the wifi is that good on the printer and it took about 45 seconds], went down and started the print. The results were great, all of the articulations work, the best working clearance was 0.3mm, the overhangs up to 60 deg. were fine and up to 80 deg. didn't fail, minor "banding" for 1-2 mm at the middle height of the print, also slight layer shift at the same layers.
All of this with a kids printer "right out of the box" with no "tweaking" whatsoever [besides me calibrating the build plate due to my own curiosity of how it works].
It does what they say, comes with a horde of fun models that definitely print fine, is enclosed and has exhaust fans (no filter but easy to make one or have the exhaust go into a fume extractor), looks cool and is very quiet.
For the right price [less than USD $400 or so with eight 200 gram rolls of filament] it's a hit for someone who doesn't want to mess around "dialing in" a printer and just wants to print little models and toys. It's a very good "gateway printer" to use to get more advanced by using this to learn on and practice with, kids or adults.
Sure, for less than USD $500 one can get a Bambu Labs A1 with the 4-roll AMS...

Wow, no Mac-compatible slicing software! Is this the 1990s? A real shame, as this is a complete deal breaker.

Yes, it really limits the functions for us mac users, it’s otherwise a great printer. Hopefully they update!
