- Welcome to February 2023s USED PC parts hunt, and this month I thought I would see more RTX 3000 series cards, especially RTX 3060 tis, instead there were quite a few RTX 3090s on display at decent prices, but RTX 3080s, RX 6800 XTs etc. were pretty bad prices! Though some unexpected deals none the less came up.

Strange deals are better than no deals! May it rain Price to Performance!
10:23 OMG the pricing and quality looks phenomenal! I need some of those speakers hahaha
Bryan, the Titan Z was interesting when it was new (effectively the same as 780 Ti SLI), but it's out of driver support now, lack of newer optimisations is beginning to hurt all Kepler GPUs, as RandomGamingInHD showed recently by testing a GTX 760 vs. 750 Ti. For modern games, the Titan Z may have real problems since it's a forced SLI entity, I'd be surprised if it didn't show nasty issues with frametimes. If it can function with SLI effectively disabled then it'd be a bit slower than a GTX 980.
For older games it might not be so bad, though it only has 6GB VRAM effective; with SLI working perfectly, it's a bit like having a GTX 1080 but with a quarter less VRAM, though for older games it might in some cases come close to a 1080 Ti, but the latter should stomp it for modern titles.
The more interesting aspect of the Titan Z is its compute performance, it's not crippled like the 780 Ti is, ie. FP64 is still very good vs. all normal gamer cards. Hence, it would be ideal as a low cost compute solution, especially for FP64 (it's 4x more than a 3080).
@Lurch What RGHD showed though is still relevant to what's happening with driver support for Kepler; Titan Z suffers more because it's an SLI config. As I said though, it still has merit for compute, especially FP64 where it thumps anything modern in the consumer field.
My favourite SLI setup is 3-way GTX 280 but I've not had a chance to do much with it yet. Have a whole bunch of CPUs lined up to mess with (E8400, Q6600, QX9650) using an ASUS Striker II Extreme. For actual SLI use back in the day though I went through 8800 GT, GTX 460, GTX 560 Ti, GTX 580 1.5GB and GTX 580 3GB before switching to a single 980. I have several 780 Tis for benching but didn't use them in my gaming rig, plus that was about the time when driver support for SLI became a complete mess, especially for DX9/DX10.
It gets less interesting when you realize you can get almost the same card with the Tesla K80 (less cores 2x 2496, double ram 2x12GB) for only $60. So you can buy 2 or even 3 for the price of one Titan Z.
@@milescarter7803 Good point, though does the K80 have any display outputs?
@@mapesdhs597 nah and it has no fans still cool tho
Indeed, The Titan Z, for 190 Bucks, has *absolute NO value in 2023 !* Not even if it was 100 bucks !!! You really bought an LEMON there, for 190 Bucks !
I would pay an MAX of 60 Bucks for that museum piece ! 🤣
I would have grabbed that Titan z for sure. I recently found for $120 CAD a MSI Armor OC edition GTX 1080 lightly use, in original box and paperwork. Even the stickers! I'm going to swap it into my workstation / gaming rig that currently has a RX 5700 that I've never been super happy with.
The TITAN Z is like a classic sports car. Hopelessly impractical to use, but its very rare and looks awesome while doing it. Kepler hasn't aged very well, but the TITAN Z is the last dual gpu gaming card ever made by Nvidia, so it's this relic of times past. If you can somehow find one, I'd love to see a Titan z vs r9 295 x2 video.
By the way: I would not use the ryzen 1700 cooler on a 5700x. I have that specific cooler and it did not work well on a 3700x. It was running stable, but thermal throttled badly. It might just have been my itx case though.
Yeah if the pc flips dry up ... just finding collectible classic parts might be a avenue. It would be interesting to know what are the most collectible parts.
Wish I had kept some of my really old parts from the 90's for this reason
I haven't had the cooler for the 1700, but I did find that the 1700x and 5700x run very similarly in terms of thermals and power draw.
@@ArtisChronicles The 1700x uses a wraith max, right? That actually is a fairly good cooler. I would happily use a wraith max or prism on a 65w ryzen part.
"Hard off". What a name for a store. Cracks me up every time :-)
Bought an server grade SSD that had originally retailed for a little over $2k new for just $102 so yea there are some good deals around as of late.
aren't you just paying for reliability which arguable is not that needed lmao on an ssd
@@reuven2010 it's needed more than one wohld like to think. Apparently a lot of samsung SSDs have been dying recently.
brian always getting the killer deals man
Brian's just a beast
@@Cobloaf69 He a killah!
Hmmm, *190 bucks for an crappy Titan Z, really ISN'T an deal !* He got hosed there ! It's worth 100 bucks MAX !
I even wouldn't have payed, more than 60 bucks, for it !
It's still a titan z have some respect Oo,
Thank you, safe travels and good luck with thech hunting.
I wish there were communities like this in the US. Ebay is still insane where they're still selling used 6950XTs for more than new. If they're going to be a scalper you'd think people would at least check what new prices are.
At least 3090s are approaching $700 thanks to the 4070ti. It seems like the 70-80 class cards have been going back up though but you can snag a 6700 sometimes for acceptable prices. As far as actual _bargains_ I haven't seen shit. I think there's still too many people that passed on upgrades for too long so they're still willing to pay close to MSRP for 2 year old cards since new stuff is so ridiculously overpriced.
Fun fact that wraith spire RGB was also sold with the Ryzen 2700 non x. I know this only because there was a time in 2019 where I bought four of them brand new off Newegg for around $140 a piece each with an included game I believe red dead and outer worlds.
Hi Brian gtx 1660 super $230 is good deal or not let me know thanks
I didn't even know the Spire had an RGB variant. I got an 2700x but that came with the Prizm. That's good to know there a great stock cooler.
@@samirsheikh6684 In the US? For $US Dollars? Or Aussie Dollars? If USA, new, eh sure. Used? No. Not at all. They go sub $150 on Mercari all day long....
@@MoDzAudio yeah ny brother has that spire. Seemed to pair up well with the 1700. AMD's OG wealth coolers for the fx chips was when I was kind of excited. They did it extremely late into the life cycle, but it carried over to ryzen and meant that you didn't need an aftermarket cooler to run them well... At least with the first 2 gens of Ryzen.
wait, all this time I thought it was JUNK paradise, I need to improve my listening in English...
😅
Me too😆😆
Quiet cool to see japanese used GPU market. Nice content
Recently bought a used MSI 3080 for $550 and its in great shape. I love getting the most performance I can for my dollar! I also love that you show how viable the used market is, no matter where you are in the world
@Lurch very true!
@Lurch Link me to your ebay listing for the 5700xts man. If the price is right i might get one.
@Lurch Mans is just marketing his own cards but it actually worked 😂😂
Even 400 would be TOO MUCH for an 3080 with 12Gb, Let alone for an 10Gb ! If you want value ..... Go with an Radeon 6000 series GPU !
@@gertjanvandermeij4265 For 1440p 10gb is perfectly fine for now. It will hold me over for a couple years then I will make the upgrade to a 5000 or 8000 series gpu
Loved all that audio gear info. Sometime I’d LOVE you to do a video about cheap computer parts and home setup electronics if people are coming to Australia for a year (in same way as you talk about Japan). I’m in that boat at the moment, and boy is it difficult to figure out in oz!
Oh a cool trick as wel if you want cheap speaker wire, just grab some old telephone line cable, especially in japan, in the junk bins for 50 cents. I got 5 meters worth, if it was labelled as speaker wire it would be 10x the amount!
@@techyescity wow that is super cheap!!! I loved all your content on setting up an office etc from SCRATCH in Japan. I mean, I have no plans to do it right now but it was so fascinating. And yeah, if you were doing it from SCRATCH in Brisbane or Goldie, what would you buy?? Would be an interesting video I reckon
That GTX 480, it is not bad VRAM, it just needs a reflow, I just fixed a GTX 560 2 days ago with the same issue.
Give it a good heatgun session, It will work.
Love those Pc cases with those front panels actually being on the front!
Love the Japan parts hunt!!!!
14:30 not surprised tbh, that is to be expected since the GTX 480's were very known for having heating issues when the card came out.
Hope all is well with you and your family in Japan Bry 🇯🇵 🥰🇯🇵👍. Some amazing deals for sure. The Titan Z would be a mantle piece being the last, I think, retail dual-GPU on the market (other than exotic server gpus). Temps were always high on them being a dual-GPU with a single-fan setup. A good thermal paste may only yield 2-4c off max temps. This GPU does idle high temps.
You are such a great youtuber and inspiration man,, get some rest soon k .. love from ireland ( where no good deals exist ) :(
Let's see some Titan Z love! Happy hunting!
Here in the US I've seen an average price drop on used cpus/gpus over the past 30 days. As well as the expected uptick in interest and sales from tax return season starting. Though, given the current economic state, I'm hesitant to aggressively add more builds. While parts prices may be dropping I don't expect sales to do well after this tax return season. I think I'll end up targeting more budget console-killer level builds and ultra-budget rigs. Further reducing the average build price (and my margins). Cheap parts don't help when you can't sell them.
No more question of the day? I like the $100 flip-up. Gives almost everybody an example they an work of to flip PC's.
These vids are always fun to watch and that Titan is nice.
Thanks for all the content.
Hey Brian, interesting to find that Titan Z. Doesn't matter what you got it for you didn't have one now you do. I'm sure new thermal paste we'll get it operating at normal. As to the 30 series market, couldn't agree more. Because the 40 series are such insane priced it's driving the 30s higher. Best I could do was nabbing a Gigabyte 3070 for $400 US. Happy I got one, so many deals feel through and this one was pristine and 5 months old still got more than 2.5 years left on warranty. Now I just have to find the right bang for the buck processor and motherboard upgrade to keep up with the 3070 as I have an i7 5820k. Got any ideas? Might make a good video HINT HINT 😉

@@daytimerocker3808 thanks! Interested also to see if Brian sees this and has a few ideas
Brian with a vlog in style 👌👌👍
I recently found out how crazy Japan's property market is. They decompose the value like crazy. I suspect there are deals in the low end property area - even if that property has only limited lifespan.
Well...good for you that there are decent sales...
Checking out US Navy sailors and government contractors in Yokosuka might lead to some pc parts deals.
The price is in line with the performance. Aside from being a Kepler die it is a dual GPU solution, which historically is very SLi like. Some games gain 10-30% but many lose up to 10% or stutter.
Its not 12GB, it is 2x6gb. Money better spent on a 6600 in my opinion. Will be much better performing and use less power etc etc. Even a 1080 or 2060 is on par for gaming. If you are rendering, just get a Tesla K80 or something for $60
Its neat, but the twin gut punches of Kepler and Dual GPU won't pay off in many scenarios.
Hopefully you can visit who you want to while you are in Japan 🗾
'old cards that look it has been taken care of...'
surprise it's comes out the dishwasher :p
Titan Z + Ryzen 1700 in an oddball case with a phanteks or otherwise horizontal GPU mount
Just got an gtx 1080 and that card was just like yours with idle at around 60 degrees and fast up over 80 when stressed, new thermalpaste and now sits at 40 degrees at idle (no fans active) and max out at 70 when gaming, the TDP is much higher for the Titan so dry thermapaste sounds like a good guess.
RX 5700 is faster than the GTX 1080 though. Try Amernime Zone drivers on the RX 5700. No issues for me so far since I always had issues on the official drivers
@@aarondustinestrada8103 what does that have to do with anything I said?
our boy finally put an mATX motherboard in a mATX case. so proud of you
Love using SCD- keys to activate any Computers I am building or refurbishing..always under $20 ..with todays key I got for $13.77 AUD which is an awesome deal.
about the GTX 480, as a guy used to work at Hard Off, I don't think they really test those.
for one, not many are interested in 480 anymore and testing GPU takes time, so if we know we can't sell it for good price or if we put warranty and it might backfire us, we don't test them.
to them/me, selling 480 with warranty is not the risk worth taking. but who knows.
I've seen some used Titan X sell for around £150-200 in the UK recently so well worth the price if you can find one.
with those prices I kinda feel scammed for selling my rx 580 8gig for $50. granted I was doing a nice thing for a kid with some Christmas money but when a 290 goes for more just wow
I would of been like looking around in a really wild manner if I had spotted that Titan Z as Brian did, walking briskly to the payment register. Yes its a unicorn, Great hunting Bro.
@El Cactuar please keep in mind I grew up in MN. You got me yet once more. hahaha.
Audio gear and instruments are great prices at second hand stores here.
Brian, bro, you just HAVE to replace the thermal pads & paste on them -cards.
R9 290 is a HOT beast,also,the Titan Z!!
Byw, maybe, it's time for hot -air to try to "bake" the 480 ?
The Tech Yes Lovin' is going to be real with all this stock.
Recently bought an RX 5600 XT for $120 in Ebay US hehehehe
I am in Akihabara and saw the 3090 deal and is thinking of getting one. You just push me over the edge of getting it.
Yeah its solid, just make sure you check the sliders when getting it and make sure there is some healthy headroom on the card.
@@techyescity My main concern is that it only has 1 week return period and I do not have a rig to test the card in Japan as I am only visiting here for 3 weeks.
It's all about the thrill of getting that deal tbh!
Love the Tech Yes Outfit.
That Titan looks real nice
Does using the OEM windows key lock the OS to the motherboard? Like, if I wanted to upgrade CPU and mobo, could I use the same drive that has the OEM copy of windows on it without issue?
just picked up some rx 570's and 580's for $35 a piece off a miner. I know they are a bit of a gamble in the long term but for that price they are good
Looking dapper!
I've got a 2600k in which ram doesn't post anymore, just sitting in my lounge room with no idea what to do with it. I even have a a rare low profile Noctua double fan setup on it!
15:40 i wonder if stores will start implementing a system where they charge some amount of money to test out a component for the customer to prove that it works.
Titan z on ebay here in UK £800 😯
Here in the US the local market is the best. I got a 2080S, 2080ti, and 3080 for $600 total and he gave me a working i9PC. I go to the swap meet and they have $1 Amazon return and buy anything pc related. There are hits and misses but do get lucky sometimes. Do enjoy watching your part hunts.
There was another guy selling one 3080 for $380, I was going to pick up when he stopped responding, but it worked out better for me
Looking sharp with the suit mate!
This was my dream GPU when it was 1,000$ good thing I couldn’t afford it back then lol
Man I wish you'd come to Southern California and have a fan meet in Micro Center. I'd let you use my car lol
Last month I had visited Japan and I spotted a nice (tested and with box) ASUS RTX2060 Phoenix at a hard-off just outside Tokyo (near Musashi-Urawa) selling at around 25000 yen taxed. I was a bit hesitated in buying it as I still have weeks to travel and I had nothing to test it. Eventually I bought a very nice aircraft model instead and skipped the GPU. I think sometime Hard-off can still have good stuffs but have to be lucky enough to catch them
I feel like most of the time "Untested" unfortunately is just a synonym for "known faulty".
Holy christ, that 3090 price is insane for Canadian consumers. Here just on Amazon, a 3090nforbthe Amazon choice, the zotac 3090 trinity OC, it's $2100 CAD. Shipped through Amazon, not third parry. That japanese selling price is just over $1000 CAD. I hate canadian pricing. Obviously 40xx series is the way to go, but even 4080 cards are are 2 grand. It's insane.
No the hot bake method on the graphics card will help sometimes.
Would like to see a comparison between Titan Z and the Tesla K80 version for rendering. K80 is $60 or less and almost as fast.
Spire is not exciting. Wraith is. For a budget build I guess, I know the RGB sells stuff. That's just how it is.
Great video.
Yes man getting then deals amazing deals
i love nerd on a budget mobile testing rig! you need one too
Mr Bryan, you should come to Taiwan. I checked the online second hand market, and for most of the high end GPUs that you mentioned, I found better prices in here. Hope you come and visit here as well.
Every once in a while those Titan Zs will appear on eBay, though you have to wade through the people who still price them like it's 2016
Does not changing the thermal bad gpu cause a device stop error or remove the D3D device when opening games and when OCCT is detected on VRAM it does not work and I change a new system and get the same errors are there any solutions?
R7 2700 came with RGB cooler, i still have it in a box
I use mine. even cooler because it didn't cost extra.
You always get a great price for audio equipment when it's from Yahama. :P
Looked up the Titan Z.... NOOOO!
Two Keplers in SLI, this ages like sour milk
You say Hard Off - We Say HARD ON ;) hahahha
Titan Z!!! Ive been looking for one for my collection.
I recently did a build using the P8Z68V-le. I have some issues with the bios resetting when it's cold starting. Other then that it works really well. Got 4 sticks in it with 32GB ram running at 1333 and a i7-3770. GPU is a 1060 3GB. Wish I got the 6GB. And booting off a 240GB SATA 3 and using a 960GB SATA 3 as scratch disk. Still do my video editing on this. A wonder how well it holds up.
Give the Titan Z some lovin’ and show us what it can do. Definitely a unique card and interesting to see what it’s like.
woaw man, we need shop like this in australia !
I wish...
The Titan Z is GK110B, so 780 ti/Titan black X2.
Last week I got a Red Devil RX 6700XT 12GB for $300 used but its in perfect condition.
Replacing my old Strix Vega64. way better performance 4X faster and 100w less in power draw
The 4060 will be 499 msrp I reckon, they just don’t do competitive pricing anymore. So here in the U.k you can add 100 to that right away if not more
Here in Denmark you can easily always add 50% to the msrp, 600 dollars means 900 .... etc.
This will be useful when I get to Japan. My girlfriend wants a PC for her v-tube streaming.
Hi Bryan! Where is the best place online or retail can you buy used parts on Japan?
Titan Z and Ryzen Cooler were the best deals imho.
That GTX480 is mint! Woulda been a keeper for me lol.
edit: just saw it artifacting, such a shame.
lol there are still people complaining about the titan z price when they don't realize what it can do in compute for that price.
im geting a 8100 and think of upgrading to a 9600 what would be a good gpu for under 300$ for the 9600
Ryan will you do a video on CRT Monitors? Since you're in Japan it could be particularly interesting because you can get a hold of the best CRT Monitors a lot easier there, is it something you'd ever consider?
i decided even if i lose some money my gpus that are in my inventory are just taking up space unless they are mining if the crypto go up 500 percent in 5 years sounds good to me lol. they heat my home for now.
r9 290 is the best deal you have done. I wish I could find it at that price
Im shocked by the loudspeaker price OMG!
Brian, there's a little bit missing, foyme, about them prices.
Is a shop buys it of the Seller, and then sells it,or it's just a place, where people sell theirs stuff, and can make whatever price they want ???
Just picked up a Strix 2060super for £125 a 1660super for £80 and a 1070ti for £60 here in the UK 😎
Where from mate ebay?
Has got to be Facebook I reckon. I got a 2080ti the other day for a smidge over £200
1:40 All the prices i see on the newer generation (30 series stuff) should be as brand new, not open or used or bulk. Literally new sealed box
And this is using the scale of the overpriced 4070ti, not even taking into account they are old gen, 2-3 years old product.
If they are used they should have at least 30% off of that if they are lightly used to less than half for the more used parts
instead of that broken 480 there was a gtx660 shown at 7:42 in the video for 3000 ish yen along with a radeon 7850 for 2000 yen or a radeon r9 285 for 5000 yen
6:44 Can you get a 10% discount on a brand new 800$ 4070ti? I think that would be a better deal than the 3090s
U could try the oven trick with the 480
in my country for 50$ i bought myself i7 2600k and that was really cheap it goes around 70-80$ in my country
Yes man is ballin with the duster!!! Show the titan z build please.
My uncle got that rgb ryzen cooler with his 3700x back in 2020.
