The sound is coming from the motor bearings which are running a little dry, after nearly 18 years of use, nothing wrong with it, the machine has run 18.400 hours since new.
Engine bearings? You sure the brushes are installed correctly? That sound is caused by worn and/or improperly installed brushes. Or just the bearings, that could be the issue too.
I know the drum bearings are okay, the brushes are the original ones, tried another set of brushes still the same sound, i seen vid's from other Miele's which similiar motor sound, and the sound is coming from the motor bearings, especially very common on the MRT 37, which high running hours.
