@YongYea , I don’t know if you see this but I hope you do. I don’t know if even you are aware of this but UA-cam seems to be running an algorithm that not only do they not admit too but I have witnessed it myself across several videos and now even yours, comments that reach a certain age are automatically removed from the comment section, technically they are ghosted as you can still view your own comments when signed in or any featured posts but right now on your previous video from yesterday no comments (except yours) older than 19 hours are visible to the public, all ghosted. I believe it’s to allow better engagement as there are those more likely to comment if it looks like less comments are in the way of climbing the comments section. This is not right having so many comments no longer visible to the public that people took time to write. I have seen the same thing across multiple videos and while i know it’s nothing to do with you I thought you should know what’s going on in your own videos.

That their knee-jerk response was "do you not own phones" to an audience of PC gamers is the best indication of just how out of touch they are with their audience. Even as a joke it's an utterly tone deaf move, the PR equivilent of tossing TNT into a fire.

Well, we hope that is the case anyway. But mobile is a very profitable market made up almost entirely of people who are not really gamers. Their standards for quality are much lower and their willingness to spend money on MTXs is much higher. When Activison Blizzard doubled down and said all their best devs are now working on mobiles, what that really means is that we are no longer profitable enough for them. So we're no longer the target audience. We get the mediocre devs and the scraps they are given to work with while the lion's share of their time and effort goes to catering to the mobile masses. Namely the Chinese market. Unless China cracks down on MTXs in games in a big way, it's unlikely that our collective outrage will dissuade them at all.

Gamer chick chiming in. Yeah. Nobody wants this shit. It's been vastly accepted that the franchise has been on PC and Mac as a priority. Was fine they ported Diablo to psx, was a good port even. The diablo 3 ports to console I can't speak from experience but it seems like it translated weirdly. Anyway. It boggles my mind they think that people want a mobile game (and yes you are definitely right it would be p2w since they've gotten away with it for a while now with Overwatch), or at least mock their player base "what, no phone?" with that stupid smirk. Like... um... yes phones are more advanced now but not everyone is going to have the latest and greatest frigging iPhone. There's plenty of people who use so-so android phones, and that's why it was slightly acceptable to port their games to console: mostly the simplicity of similarity in specs. It's a shame that this company would have initially come from nearly humble beginnings to become this... We all knew dumb choices like this would eventually come up. They changed so much right around Diablo II that even some employees who were there for the first Diablo got uneasy and left. Then they let the battle.net servers rot as people threw money at them to play WoW, their perfect little cash cow. They've just gotten sloppier and sloppier, and just as much more greedy. The Activision merger just made them even worse. It's only a matter of time before their finances take a hit for their choices. I enjoy HotS, but that is a prime example of sheer laziness and holding out their hands for cash. That is the kind of game that will eventually die. It has no story. It is a repetitive game. Meanwhile games they made in the past have a huge following still, because of the flavor of them. Not just pew pew buy a box rinse and repeat. It's like they forgot everything and got shitty like EA. Well, we all know what happens to companies acquired by EA (Rip OG Origin). Guess that's Blizzard's fate after being acquired by Activision...
And yes. As for the maddening "sexist" bullshit, it's tiring. I tire of the way journalism pits groups of people against each other to generate infamy and clicks. Them and the people who find every reason to get pissed off are part of the problem.

It’s nuts to me. Seeing these companies that were filled with those so passionate about creating games as an extension of passion and care to present beautiful and fun products now purely trying to get as much money as humanly possible as fast as possible. What these companies will come to learn is that the dedicated gaming community isn’t full of idiots. Casual players may come in the millions and be willing to spend a few dollars, but creating games purely for the casual audience will turn away the people that are devoted to supporting them. We are the ones that created their ivory towers in the first place.
Passion and love to give the best experience are the things that bring in the real money and audience.

That "they just hate women" theory is the most hilariously insidious thing ever.
It couldn't possibly be the inferior graphics, controls, monetization, dumbed-down gameplay, pacing that's designed for short play sessions, etc etc.
It must be they want to avoid women. Women who are also entirely free to play PC games if they want.

    • @NoeLPZC
      @NoeLPZC 6 років тому

I actually think there's a kernel of truth to the misogyny claim, though I agree it's predominantly the fact that core gamers are turned off by the inferior mobile experience. Core gaming (particularly PC gaming) has traditionally been male-dominated, and since men are more likely to be core gamers they're more likely to be turned off mobile games and we end up with a culture where mobile gaming is dominated with casual gamers, many of which are women. This feeds into the cultural notion that casual/mobile games are for girls and core games are for boys, which in turn feeds back into the existing divide. It's a positive feedback loop.
So while of course it's ridiculous to argue they're ONLY shitting on it being a mobile game because they associate mobile gaming with women, I think it would be accurate to say that, for many, men see mobile gaming as somewhat emasculating.

They're still working on diablo 4...they've been working on it for a while and that's what most people want...hell most of the original and long term blizzard devs are the ones in charge this has nothing to do with Activision this is just trying to make mobile gaming more appealing and open to people trying to bring it into the market. The market is a mess though especially on mobile and everyone is worried immortal Is just a clone of another game with the diablo tag..and an mmo well actually a lot of people were interested in an mmo diablo but I'm pretty sure they didn't mean on a phone..there are very few good phone games...that are worth spending some times on and be enjoyable while most are time wasters and that's it. That or horrible repeats or broken or so pay to win or something that it's just pointless...that's why people are pissed and I can agree. Diablo 2 remake I think diehard fans would be happy and I wouldn't mind..but most people dont want a remake of diablo 2 from what I've seen...I can see why though plus it's far far too over hyped for what it was.. I'm going back playing though and honestly it puts me to sleep fatsee than d3 does .-. I just find the game lacking in many areas as for its darker aesthetic well..eh sort of the older style of graphics helps what really makes it better in its darker aesthetic is its lighting. That shit is almost perfect there. Made another character today hit act 2 again and...apparently my pump died on my aio..so that's getting replaced the company is just replacing it quite easy thing has a 5 year warranty which is nice. I dont think they're oblivious I think they're scared that Activision will either destroy them or take control..they have the means to do so it's not easy when Activision can do a number of things to really harm them..honestly I'd preferred ten cent being in a partnership with them. Theres one older diablo dev though that just has massive paranoia...the last.guy I forgot his name.is stepping down because of his mental health...hes old enough as is and I'd imagine his brain is starting to fail slowly anyways. Diablo 2 was good but the story was just as bad as d3s when you look at it...most of the darker aesthetics starts in act 1 and 3 and I believe its act 4. But even in act 1 it's really not that dark at all...the older look sort of makes it more creepy. By act 2..well it basically loses that factor and act 3 I find brings it back quite well which I enjoy i feel stupid for not remembering act 4 well enough..and I forgot if theres an act 5 or not with LoD ..oh god imma get a lot of hate for that. D3 improves in most areas...the lighting was a fail in 3 and the story and cutscences could have had a darker vibe reaper of souls did it some justice with how death tore the souls from the new horadrim. The lighting once again is just too much it does the game no justice..proper lighting would help greatly if you ask me. The skills system needs some more refining and sets needs to be reworked or removed and replaced. Power creep needs to slow down and not be so fast. Rune words and charms some people like them I think rune words could be good still instead of just gems and leg gems. Charms are really just a whatever item they can be replaced with something better and more interesting. The way potions work that needs some refining and for the love of god the teleporting needs to be changed to something that makes sense not just pressing T to open a portal. And identifying...you shouldn't ge able to list identify everything maybe simple magic items. Maybe the wizards or other classes could have passive skill or one that you can choose to add that allows d3 system of portaling and identifying. That's some of what I have

Johnathon Haney it’s not nostalgic. Looking at this from a solely economical and marketing perspective, it makes perfect sense. What he said, I mean. With more mainstream success, more businessmen caring about money and not games jumped on board. And they sought to gain more customers, because that’s what matters at the end of the day: income. So they sought to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
This would ofc upset those that had once filled the niche, as they were no longer the target audience.
It’s not nostalgia, my guy. It’s simple economics.

Good games are dying. Games aren't a passion project anymore, just solely money driven. Compared to 10+ years ago, way more marketing/communication based jobs have popped up, to help with the exploitation of the customers wallet. Most of the money spent on making video games is invested in marketing, instead of game development. Games before 2008 were actual games. Remember trying out a demo to see if a game is any good, before you bought it? That's replaced with "early access." Most game devs are losing touch with their fans. Small indie games are whats left... Battle Royale games are the current cancer that companies like to fully explore and milk it dry.

Bethesda showed everyone the hot new FO4 trailer and even provided a release date for it. And afterwards Todd gave the audience Fallout Shelter to tide them over, stating: "Which will be available, for free... tonight." They waited until the heavy-hitter was ready for the release trailer stages, and for their dumb mobile game to be 100% complete for the show. The real heavy-hitting releases by these companies have and will always be flagship titles on PC/consoles, not mobile, no matter how much the industry tries to plug for it.

Obviously, not all of them are good and not shameless add-filled cashgrabs, but, like Steam, you can find some genuinely great games under the manure ridden store page. Really wish people wouldn't overgeneralize all mobile games to be shameless cash cows when there are good quality games.

@@poofinator4952 There _are_ good mobages out there and I play/have played a couple myself, but I have yet to find one that doesn't have microtransactions or use the gacha model, that isn't a console port. Furthermore they are an entirely different kind of game - regular content updates, sometimes decent gameplay but often too dependent on lucky gacha draws to clear the hardest content. Unless you're talking about mobile-exclusive series such as Chaos Rings, which seem to be a rare breed these days.
In any case they often don't have the same kind of narrative, world-building and sense of immersion that a real heavy hitting title will, be it an RPG or more action-orientated. I've learned my lesson about spending money in these types of games because frankly there are much better titles available for less. The worry is that they often cost less than a 'proper' game to develop and maintain, and out of every 100 or even 1000 people that play it, all you need is 1 whale that spends a stupid amount of money and it's instantly profitable.
I enjoy them for what they are, though more than half of the reason I've played them is because I'm already interested in the franchises they represent to begin with (I have no interest in mobile-exclusive new IP). But I don't want the core gaming market to suffer due to their existence - either trying to entice people into playing the latest cashgrab or shamelessly exploiting their old IP for a quick buck. Sadly the risk of that happening is all too real without some form of regulation, especially in Japan where that practice is more widely accepted.

@@Harkz0r I also play a mobage(just started a month ago) and while i enjoy it for what it is,I'm not blind to the fact that it constantly tries to get you spend money:By putting certain characters up on banner,by being stingy with the premium currency, and of course the fact that rolling the gatcha is the only way to get characters in the first place. I don't do it because I don't want to support those kinds of tactics.
Another youtuber who plays the same mobage put out a decent video comparing the typical tactics casinos use to what gatcha games do and it's pretty much 1 for 1.
I'm curious as to what kind of regulations you think mobages should have. I think for starters there should be an age restriction on these kinds of games like casinos have. While an adult is experienced enough and should make decisions for themselves on money,a child can't really do that and they can wind up spending money on the game without their parents consent.
This even happens in console games with MT(like FIFA) The problem is that from what I've seen most parents are largely ignorant of not only mobile games, but games in general and the industry. I think a lot could be done if more people informed parents about their kids hobbies. Of course, this doesn't count for japanese gatcha games.

Mark Kern nailed it. With all this going on, a lot of people forget that the Diablo IP is what made Blizzard as a gaming company and the IP that made a name for themselves. Followed by Warcraft and Starcraft but still would of never been possible without Diablo 1. With Diablo 2 being an amazing game to grow up with and where I did lan parties with my friends, to even the bumpy start of Diablo 3 with the auctionhouse I still had lots of respect for the company. Announcing this mobile game abomination is nothing but a slap in the face the the true hardcore fans that were craving for a new Diablo PC announcement. D2 Remastered of even a D3 DLC would've still been better than this BS cashgrab mobile abomination. Enough ranting for the day, these are just my thoughts and I do hope that they do learn from their PR disaster and will handle this matter the right way as opposed to making it worse like EA did with both Battlefront2 and how they butchered Command & Conquer similarly as they did with Diablo Immortals.

You know it's bad if Diablo 2's producer, Mark Kern, expressed his disappointment with Blizzard not understanding on Twitter saying, "Blizzard has lost touch with gamers and is failing to anticipate kind [of] obvious problems before they happen." Blizzard definitely screwed up big time. Calling their consumer-base "...toxic..." is just dumb on a professional level and also from a business perspective. I'm pretty sure that this instance will have pissed off enough Blizzard fans to just not buy anything Blizzard or Activision made.
PC gamers and long time fans wouldn't be so upset if they had a Diablo 1 & 2 Remaster coming. But nothing of that was announced so of course fans will be focusing on how upset people are with the whole fiasco with Diablo Immortal.

I remember playing Diablo 1 co-op with my friend back in the old, old days - it was all I wanted to play. I remember immediately buying D2 and its expansion as one of the first purchases of my gaming life when I finally DID get my own PC. I remember buying Diablo 3 - and while it wasn't a patch on my old experiences with previous games (disappointed, but not the worst thing ever), I eventually jumped off the Diablo train due to far better alternatives. And then this debacle happens.
Let's put it like this. Let's say you open a store on the sidewalk making lemonade and build a lemonade loving community of customers who look forward to your refreshments every day. You eventually make enough cash to upgrade to an actual store and a better lemonade product, embrace your community even more along the way - they feel like a part of you, and you them. Along the way, you hint that you have a big surprise in store for all those dedicated lemonade lovers you've had at your back for years and invite them to your even bigger store... and "VOILA, we're selling gravy!" Wait, why are you mad? Don't you have viable food in your house to put gravy on?
Diablo is inherently a PC game and has been for two decades. How a company could not foresee that leaving that dedicated fanbase in the dark for the sake of a shitty mobile port of Not-Diablo-3 and NOTHING else boggles my mind. I guess I'm just another 'entitled' gamer. Safe to say I won't be giving anything towards D:Immortal, but the sad fact is they won't need my money - they'll get plenty anyway, and a pox on the 'old entitled fans' for daring to expect something after following the franchise for so long on the platform they were always on.
