@@mastermind41 sometimes all it takes to change a cartoon villain, is a good person. Shame peach here isn't really that great a person. Bowser Jr only really is emulating his father because... Well... It's his father. The only role model he has, when he could have had a role model that could make him have better balance and not just be a tyrant when he grows up.

But when the one showing that devotion and grace is in any way punished for or hindered from being able to leave whenever they like, or to set boundaries, or to prioritize themselves and their own needs when they choose, then that person is no longer a Saint, but instead just a prisoner. A hostage. A victim.
Grow up, and stop expecting others to save you. You need to choose to grow and change, and if someone chooses to help you along the way, then that is a wonderful blessing. You are not owed a redeemer's hand.

Bowser grew up without a maternal figure in his life, and doesn't want his son to do the same. He's obsessed with Peach because her usual job is babysitting an entire species of helpless mushroom-children, making her MORE than qualified for the role.
Sadly since he comes from a dynasty of warlords, he has no idea how to court a woman, and thus resorts to kidnapping. It's implied in multiple games that he doesn't really understand why this tactic never seems to win Peach over.
