- Today we try 'Head Gasket In A Can' on Dimi's little Peugeot 207.
Before we pour in the head gasket fix we did a service on the little Peugeot 207. Including:
Engine oil change
New oil filter
Cooling system Flush
Fresh New Coolant
Then we popped in the Head Gasket In A Can, ran the car for 15 minutes and then sent Dimi on his way.
This is not really a how to video, but more so capturing what we did to get this little car back on the road again.
After 3 weeks Dimi came back over to report on how the car was running.
Did it work? Stay tuned to find out!

His head gasket sounds proper blown, but the usual 207 1.4l head gasket leak is a corner leak from a oil channel which drops oil down the engine. There is only a trace of oil in the coolant. Usually happens about 70k. It looks worse than it is. You can live with it by simply topping up the oil.
G'day Tony! Yep she was a sick little pug. The owner reckons it was loosing more coolant than oil - might have been a bit more serious than the usual leak you describe. Agree if it was only burning a bit of oil he would have just kept topping it up.
Can't believe that the gasket fails with so few kms on it! Could this be France's answer to the 90s Falcon I6 :)?
Thanks for watching and for the info too Tony - Cheers!
Hi , have same issue leaking from the corner. Any modifications / type of gasket to prevent such issue agian? Already replaced gasket 4years ago and now it us leaking again. Thanks
great video lads & defiinitely the most informed video on this product, im 4 weeks out till geeting my head gasket changed, looks like its just public transport for me to until me mechanic is back from xmas holdays
G’day mate! Cheers and glad you found this useful! Yeah although people have used this stuff as a permanent solution - nothing will ever beat actually changing the head gasket itself. Reckon you are doing the right thing / just a shame to have it break this time of year!!
Cheers and all the best!
This fix works. Even for 2 years now on my 4runner.
Mind you - Those 4 Runners will live forever - how many Kms do you have on yours? Our mate has one with circa 425km on it! Unbreakable!
i used this product on my 2004 Turbo Diesel Hilux..i also had the following engine mods done before i started leaking coolant and i lost some compression…3 inch pipe..EGR and intake manifold de-coked and cleaned before i had the EGR itself deleted at the ECU (no blocking plate)…new injectors and glow plugs…Steinbauer Diesel Chip…additional ECU remap with Boost Controller and ‘Dongle’ fitted …this brings up the boost by 2 pounds but fools the ECU to not trip out….all these mods raise and increase cylinder pressure and heat which is probably why the head gasket failed..but i caught it early…it wasn’t overheating just going through coolant…no coolant in the oil…just black and sooty inside the overflow bottle….put a full bottle of Rislone in radiator…all good…that was 6 months ago…by the way my truck was at 262000km’s when all this happened…i realise its not a permanent fix but i’ve had no issues its my daily driver in Sydney traffic…but it’s bought me time to save the bucks for a new head
G'day Russell! I reckon this is exactly how to use this product! You caught the issue early and used it as a band aid with the intention of pulling the head and doing it properly - fingers crossed it holds out as long as you need to put away the folding for the new head and bits mate.
Those Hilux Diesel engines are tough as nails - @262xxxkm its barely getting out of bed!! heaps of life left in that mate!! Cheers for sharing your experience with it and for watching too mate!
@@MeatballGarage cheers brother!
I’ve been running my 2002 4runner with Rislone; and still no white smoke. It works.
Mate that is fantastic! You must have done a better job of it than us hacks!!
Is this the original soundproofing under the hood at 5:46?
My 207 haven't any soundproofing
Drafer Good question Drafer - it did look a bit out of place for us, however appeared to be factory. Possibly something unique to this model year?
What year was your car?
Thanks for watching!
@@MeatballGarage My model is from 2006, from Italy
@@drafer66 Cool - I will check with the owner what his was and let you know :)
I just found out it was a 2008 - which was Australian delivered. Hope that helps!
hi i own a garage and i have used many many many sealers . some work for a while but for the most part not very long . 3 years ago i discovered this guy bear who created bears head gasket sealer . so far ive done about 70 cars and it has never failed me . i charge a lot of money and i have never had to pull one head . i dont give a damn if you try it or not its just a tip
Good tip James - you have certainly saved a lot of peoples money if it works a treat! Thanks for watching mate!
@@MeatballGarage maybe Brian should try this stuff on the rex
Michael Sojevic he reckons it is going fine - not using any oil or coolant 🤷♂️. I’m sure it will do a gasket...not a matter of if, but when with his engine and KMs!
Very entertaining.
Cheers Mark!
The stuff only really works if your head gasket is leaky or has minor damage. If it’s absolutely blown, it won’t do anything but get you home or to the mechanic
Agree mate - I am not a massive fan of these chemicals being long term solutions. This worked for about a week for Dimi's car - before it was cactus!
@@MeatballGarage yeah exactly! I’ve tested it a few times- it shouldn’t hurt the vehicle at all, it’s strange that it happened to you
Who absolutely would blow a head gasket?
Anyone not a senior.
Grow up.
@@waynemasters8673 what? You alright?
@@MegaDevify
You so wrong.
You must trust YouthTube?
Just take two sticks of butter.
Worked for my commodore vz, had a minor head gasket issue.. dropping little coolant.. put this stuff and hasn't dropped a single drop since been almost a year
G'day Mr Weewool! Mate that is fantastic! I would be nervous using this as a permanent solution but geez if its working on your car and she is running mint, happy days!!
Good job boys
Cheers Richard 👍
1:19 I have the exact same engine whining noise on my 2010 peugeot 308 1.6 vti engine. do you know how to fix it or if can it be fixed?
G'day Einar - now that you mention it, that does sound a little whiney - but it could be just the engine under load. I will ask the owner of the car if it made that noise often and get back to you. Unfortunately, we cant test it as that it has now been put to sleep (poor little Pug!)
Thanks for watching!
@@MeatballGarage Thanks, I think it's the water pump because the water pump is behind the pulley and the noise is coming from where the pulley is, also the pulley in my car is rattling a bit
@@einark3846 Hi mate, I had a chat to him on the weekend - he reckons the noise was a little louder when the air con was on - so could be that pulley as well. If you have a long screw driver - try this. - ua-cam.com/video/U927cYhQXB4/v-deo.html - just keep it clear of the pulleys and belts - it might help you isolate that noise. Good luck and let us know how you go!
@@MeatballGarage Ok, Thank you very much for helping me🙂👍
@@einark3846 My pleasure mate! 👍
it works very well for me (until more than 12000 km at this day ) and for 3 other friends/family, one friend it didn't work at all. Don't just with one type of experience you made.
Geez 12000km on just the bottle. I hope it holds up for you!
Hoping you can help me. I went to a upholstery place today as I want my front driver's seat bought back to new.
He said he doesn't have the pattern or material Holden used in 2007 VE SS. Where can I get it from?
Hmmmm good question. Ebay has a few different seat covers you could buy - not sure of the quality though. Otherwise it might be a case of just reaching out to different motor trimmers. There should be someone out there that can has or can source that material. Let us know how you go!
@@MeatballGarage yeah cheers. I was taken a back by him saying you cannot get the same cloth. I could go down the full leather refurbish but I don't want to go away from original if I can.
On line so far they are just cheap rubbish really. $40 rubbish. I just have to look around.
I will keep you in touch and likewise if you hear anything
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 5 yrs on 2 bottles of Ris
Hi PLEASE HELP ME I took my 2001 Holden commodore acclaim to the garage today, I was using a lot of water over the last month it, twice I had to pull over because of over heating took it to the garage today it has 2 blown heads. Do you reckon this product for my car? I live in nz.
Gday Rata - Hmm that doesn’t sound good at all if you have blown both head gaskets in your ecotec! To be honest, I really don't like the idea of the product and would prefer to get my actual head gaskets replaced. However there are plenty of stories where this stuff and other products have worked well, and sometimes provided a permanent fix. In our mates car, it lasted about 1000km before his car gave up on him all together. So could be worth putting in to get you through the next little while before so you can decide what to do with the car.
If you try it, let us know how it goes! Good luck and hope all works out for you 👍
Cheers - Marc
@@MeatballGarage Thanks dude, yeah I'm gona do it coz it's gona cost $3700 the other way I only paid 2k for it. I'll let yah know how I get on
Ah there you go - definitely not worth the mechanics labour if its worth more than the car! Good luck, take your time and follow the steps carefully of the product you get to do the job and you will set! Cheers 👍
Your good humas
Thanks Mate!!
Does it really work?
If it were my car id just fix the root cause. Seems like you can use this in a pinch to get you home, but maybe not as a long term solution. Others in the comments swear by it though haha!
Are you going to give it a go?
And yet he still wants an Alfa Romeo!!!
I think it is going to take some effort to change that man’s mind!
In fairness I didn't get an alfa 😁
