    Hey Sam, hate seeing the old gal looking so sad and stuck in the shed! Such a beast of an 80 that deserves to be out on the tracks. I'm a mechanic that lives just over the victorian border on the NSW side. If you wanted a hand to pull the motor out yourself to save some cash let me know, always willing to help out a fellow Aussie.

    Mate I had a Welsh plug leaking at the back of motor. So tried this stuff. Took about 10 minutes it stopped the water from pissing out. I left it in there for 4 years and it never leaked again. Good luck

    Rough time for you mate. But before you go drop $12k on another engine build I'd reccomend just trying another block. The hz and hdt blocks are pretty much the same. It's the pistons and rods that are different. Hz blocks are dirt cheap to pick up, transfer everything across and see how that holds up. That's a cheaper solution.
    But I'd also be hammering the company that originally did the rebuild. The fact that you put all these parts in and it lifted a head seems like it wasn't bolt down correct or the block wasn't machined right. Either way a brand new built motor shouldn't be doing this and engine builders shouldn't be blaming high boost or incorrect driving for a motor popping a head after less than 10k km. They need to be held accountable.

    • @td42williams77

      100% I'd be in their faces every week to hold them accountable. They should have definitely had this sorted

      Before he spends any money on the engine swapping blocks etc who built the engine needs to be held accountable and pay for the repairs. If it hasn’t somehow done heaps of km there is no reason for them not to repair at their expense. Otherwise time to get onto ACCC. But also I’ll mention you didn’t say in this video how many km since rebuild, how much boost & hp/tq or if they were standard head bolts or upgraded.

    Mate i used this on a 93 swb pajero and it got me 8 months of doing everything. As a temp solution to tide you over it worked but you will still need the rebuild. It is also dependent on the size of the gap it need to fill. Cos once my head went i tried a last ditch effort of this again to limp it home annnnnd yer no deal! Haha

    Head gasket repair / sealer is a stop gap method. Youll get a few months out of it then either need to redo it, or have repaired the cause. Im in the same boat, but for oil gallery to outside engine. Im gonna do it again next week and look into getting another engine and rebuild it.

    We bought a suzuki jimny with this stuff in it we had the engine in it reconditioned it fucked up a new head, it blocked a channel in the head and created a hot spot warping it, that shit can get stuck In the radiator and heater core, it's like cancer for cars. Hope you manage to get it up running and reliable

    Used this stuff in my 6vd1. Had a cracked head and coolant being pushed into the middle passenger side spark plug tube. Was filling the resovoir tank 2-3 times a week. Poured half a bottle of this stuff into the reservoir and the other half into the radiator and it was fixed the next time I drove it
    I'm still yet to see how long it lasts

  • @micktaylorwolfcreekmechanical

    genuine head gasket, new head bolts, copper spray on head gasket, if head gasket keeps blowing in the same spot its the head or the block is warped/cracked or bolt holes are damaged, I've used blue devil head gasket repair on a 4runner years ago and i got another 4 years before i needed to rebuild the engine and replace head gasket also with radiator leaks on my 80 series i have used a product called k seal was about 300km from home and rad blew n went to a local shop were i was on holidays was a 2-4week wait on genuine toyota rad n he chucked 2 bottles of k seal in my 80 that old rad lasted 6 more years before i had to replace it. some times that snake oil in a bottle works sometimes it doesn't but the 2 products i have found that work are blue devil and k seal also that nulon and Wynn's main seal stuff works good for seal oil leaks

    Not sure what u have or haven’t tried with the 80 but ive used the cheap $10 gasket sealer before with no coolant i took it for a good run and it held for a while. And that what was a blown gasket pushing water in a td42.
    I decked my block with a stone and installed a new head and it lasted till the new owner did a snapped crank haha

  • @jacksonwelch9870

    As a mechanic I hate that stuff
    Only tip I’ll give to people who are going to use it is don’t run your heater for several days once you’ve put it in
    The heater core is essentially a small radiator and as it’s smaller and the tubes are skinny it’s very easy for them to become blocked with this stuff, radiators can as well but old radiators like in 80s don’t have as thin tubes and are less likely to become blocked

    • @jacksonwelch9870
      @jacksonwelch9870 Рік тому +2

      Better off having a blocked radiator than a blocked heater core

    I paid 1250 to fix my car overheating. They flushed the radiator, replaced the thermostat & water pump . Still overheats . Run fine . No smoke , no white in the oil . They did a head gasket test at first & said it was ok . Now they’re saying it the head gasket & gave me a bottle of sealant didn’t work yet . Gezz . I paid 850 for the coil presuming the head gasket was ok too . Arghhh

  • @AllTerrainAction
    @AllTerrainAction Рік тому

    Yeah the logic is sound with these things, in most of the time they do work for awhile. In your case not at all. Feel you on the front of not having your car… when I had to rebuild mine and decided to do it myself a lot of lost time in the shed but after you get past that it’s quite good to finally be back out on the tracks. Good luck mate, feel your pain… funny you mention beachport, we’re up at the limestone just after the Easter break, will be a sick one 👌

  • @MrHC1983
    @MrHC1983 Рік тому +1

    Can I just say looking at your head gasket you showed as an example when you've done the head gasket mate did you get a straight edge and check the head wasn't warped? Because if it is, that'd explain the constant replacement, only has to be out a tad and that coolant will make it's way through same with if you don't do coolant changes it becomes acidic I beleive and will also eat away at it. So if you ever take the head off again just make sure.... buy a straight edge in prep and if it's not flat, you can DIY a standing solution (youtube it) if you don't wana take it somewhere to get done or buy a new one. Also you were meant to crack the heater on inside the car.... and you should have reved it a few times when u were doing it initially to cause that gap to widen a tad and suck in that stuff.... I don't think the idle for 15 mins is the go as they claim on the bottle.

I'd suggest you give them one last chance to refund you or pay for someone else who knows what they're doing to rebuild it. If they don't come to the party.
