    When I sank my Chevy 4x4 in a lake waaaay back in my teen days, we let it sit there overnight as guys were camping, so I gave a guy the rest of my beer to camp under the truck. We came back the next day with a new starter, 5 quarts of oil and an oil filter. When I took the oil plug out, clear water ran out for like 30 seconds to a minute. You could've drank it, it was so clear, before the gloppy oil came out. Long story short, we took the plugs out, dried the water out of the distributor, put the new starter on, put the new oil in and turned it over with the plugs out to blow the water out of the cylinders, put the plugs back in, turned it over, and with my wonderful MSD5 ignition system, she started right back up and I spent the day mudding. Gotta love a Chevy 350 block!!!!
    So, hopefully, yes, your water sat down in the pan, not corroding your internal parts. Hope she starts right up for you.

    I have the same 2000 Capri , and I am the second owner ,the first owner never had the boat out of his garage except to put it in the the water ,and I have garaged it also . Boats very clean,' floors tight , engine has very low hrs under 250 . for a 21 year old boat but .Point is down here in Florida if you leave any boat outside to the wet weather and we have a lot of that . Then any boat will eventually look like your Bayliner Capri ...My Hats of to you for showing that any boat even a Bayliner that most would have taking to the dump can be restored

      Thanks for Watching. its 99% done. Just waiting for warm weather to do a few final touches. Glad to hear you didn't have to go through What I did. I only paid $800 for boat and trailer.

      So sorry for the late reply. Good luck on your Bayliner. I found after I had finished that other problems arose once on the water. I will have to fix a gear oil leak and adjust my throttle so I can have a smooth take off with having to gun it.

    On a inboad boat motor, if you drain the oil and the first thing that comes out is a stream of water. most likely water sat in the block and cranked it, draining water into the oil pan. Really idk why there isnt a drain hooked up to those block plugs on each side of the block. That would save winterizing mistakes and cracked blocks.

      Thanks man. It's tough doing this in the driveway. Maybe I will find a place with a garage soon.

    I used an axe and a pointed shovel to get all the foam out, it seemed to be a little more effective

      Thanks for watching. Unfortunately the Bayliner that I named the Relic Riser, was on the water only 3 times. The last time, we ran aground and the engine Hydro-locked. I was not able to repair the engine and sold her at a loss. Please take a look at the final video in my playlist to see how nice it looked at the end. If you plan to restore a boat, get a boat with an outboard engine. Thanks again

      Thanks. The boat is out of commission right now. I had it hydro lock on an outing, so not sure if its repairable. Hoping to get her going soon.

      You are right ! You never know what to expect on something that has sat under the rain for a couple years. Thanks for watching.

    Making progress! Plastics have gotten so good now, hopefully they are not making those seat compartments out of plywood anymore.

      The seats are toast as you can see. Plenty of affordable replacements out there.

    Enjoy the video, can not believe your not wearing anything to protect yourself from the fiberglass your cutting, there is no immediate threat but long term it will wreak havoc on your lungs and breathing.

      Thanks for watching. I agree, I should have worn a mask, however, I do not seem to be having any problem at the moment. I hope there is no long term effect. I also work in steel fabrication where I am breathing metal dust quite often.

    How did you fill the seat hole?

    • @DIGOLOGIST
      @DIGOLOGIST  2 роки тому

      So sorry for the late response. As far as the seat, I covered it in 3/4 plywood, then drilled a hole about 2inches round and filled it with 2 part expanding foam. Usually called AB foam. Then I covered the deck in fiberglass. Thanks for watching.

    I'm in the same spot I want to rebuild the seat box but I really dont want to destroy it

    • @DIGOLOGIST
      @DIGOLOGIST  3 роки тому

      If it is rotted badly then tear it out. You may find the foam under it is saturated with water. That needs to come out if so. Then replace the deck if rotted and put in new two part foam. Good luck with your project.

      This is my first boat and I'm rebuilding it it's just I want it to look stock and idk if I can rebuild the seat box but yeah I have to tear everything up

    • @DIGOLOGIST
      @DIGOLOGIST  3 роки тому +1

      @@jamesgarcia9039 you can buy the box and seat together on amazon or ebay. You may be able to find the exact seat. Shop around and join a boat forum. People like to give free advice. If it is a Bayli ner go to Bayliner owners club (BOC) good luck James.
