Why Causal thinking trumps statistical thinking in the world of Intuition

The intuitive mind runs ahead of the facts in constructing a rich image of the operant situation, on the basis of scraps of evidence. It is not prone to doubt, suppresses ambiguity and spontaneously constructs stories that are as coherent as possible. Unless blatantly obvious as false, the associations that it evokes will spread as if the message were true.
This leads to many logical fallacies, and throws candidates off-track in tests of higher-order cognition such as the GMAT or CAT.
