I vaguely recall seeing this container on a camping trip with my family and dad's father as a child in the late 90s. My grandfather was a sheriff's deputy and SAR member for Clear Water County Idaho, he had so many interesting things to look at in his garage.
The pit dug in the ground is a solar still which is used to collect water. Some survival expert say it is a waste of time as you will sweat more than you will get back from the still.
In the 70's a teacher tasked us with making a kit like this. Mine had all of that type stuff plus a fishing kit and rope. I don't remember everything, but I got the only A+! LOL Maybe REI is the winner now. And I live in Tacoma, WA.👍
Really liking the upload schedule for this channel lately. Great mix of rations and survival kits. Phillip is really starting the master the camera, too!
Thats awesome how they repurposed the can like that. Some good items in the tin but so many more better suited, perhaps this wasn't a take seriously kit and was more a boy scout type thing. Still interesting though.
Interesting choices in this kit I am glad they have improved since then cause there is a lot better items that could be put in there. Cool to see history on the can how they reused can and it was a American motors can also. Awesome to see this Nathan well done.
Oh yeah love those old cans mate :) cigarets before '68 lol. Btw, Nathan I reported the nasty scammer beyond. Why they come up with porn, don't know. They come from hell and they go back to hell :) right? :-)
Wow this brings me back. I won one of those when I was in 5th grade at a school wilderness camp. Great review guys 👍
How times have changed, I have no idea how old a 5th grader is but I'm guessing its young.... don't play with matches kids🤣.

Neat kit. It is always a big debate whether to break the seal or not. Thank you for the review, Nathan. Stay safe and stay warm

It was actually really cool to see the reused can. It's a very small detail, but one of my favorites from your channel.

You know I carried a bandaid tin box full of stuff in my hunting coat from 1966 to 1980… lots of boys repurposed bandaid tins..
I'm more amazed that they used an AMC can.
Very neat
The shelter you were looking at is a water still
This hole in the ground isn't a shelter, this is the method to collect the water.
Steve would try them. Could you link to the red plastic box kit please?
Back in the day, there was chrome all over cars!, C'mon!!!, LoL
I saw another one of these kits on a different page but the tin was a MOPAR waxed polishing cloth.
1933., Ready to eat meal. And a 1975 ready meal
Looks like a Bandaid Tin they used?
Man up!!! Drink the tea n eat the bouillon cube. Taste better than it smells👍🏻
Nice, I recently got me one off of ebay but the paper label's condition isn't as great as yours!
9:34 is a solar still for capturing water
Next time, Nathan has bad bullion cube flashbacks and is committed for shock treatment and a lobotomy.
That not a shelter it is a solar still by using plastic sheeting to generate water through condensation! Shelter LOL!
I thought he was joking!?
Figure if stored properly it would be good for 10+ years
There is a rei in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania also its a odd place
Can you please give a link for the knife. Thanks.
warning: FIRECHIEF matches can explode!
Imagine drinking buion out of that survival can using it to boil
There's no cloth. It's just directions on how to make them. Good grief.
...LOOKS VERY BASIC, NO FRENCH CUISINE....LOL...GOOD ONE ,KEEP SAFE...
