Not sure I've ever bothered to mention it, but I appreciate the large warnings that you are just going to be using generic background footage, and we can safely put the video in the background and just listen to it. It's a little thing, but I appreciate that you do it.
The part that stuck in my head was if you want to make money in the game, prepared to be screwed by the cost of legal play and griefers. If you want to run cargo, everything if the game is designed against you. How about you use your ship in illegal actions your insurance and repair fees are tripled? Agreed, i feel like there needs to be consequences for being a griefer need to make them think twice. Insane insurance premiums would be a good starting point - even double down on insurance and timer, but only apply to CS2+ where authorities are hostile.
@@guysolomon7904 Prison and hostile reputation are the consequences. What else can they do? It takes a lot of time to logistically get things done in Star Citizen, if they spend all their money on griefing, they won't be able to rearm, repair, or retrieve their ship. Star Citizen is designed essentially to make griefing not worth it.
I noticed a lot of people that complain about griefing don't actually know what griefing is and tend to define griefing as anything that happens to them at the hand of another player that they don't like. But that's not griefing.
@@mattb8754 I am referring to in game violence that has no reason like pad ramming. I think those folks are the minority vs, the other. I think this would be a good way to even out the risk of both game play. As of right now the unlawful game play has little risk. Where is the lawfull play risk everything. It's pretty simple.
@@Billy-bc8pk Jail cost me 5 min or so to get back out, Getting a crime stat removed is pretty easy, taking out a comm so I will not get in trouble at all don't take long. If I lose a caro haul worth 1.4 mil, I will lose the ship, the cargo, and the time to get 1.4 mill in the first place. Earning money now will take a lot longer in the new live.

One problem is; those 90s games like Wing Commander and X-wing vs Tie Fighter were fun because you mostly played single-player, and there were *missions*. Those missions usually took place on maps that gave a battle a shape and goals. Like flying along and around a giant Star Destroyer.
Because it was in 3D space, I think folks didn't recognize how much of the fun of those games came from the map design.
Without those objectives and big terrain objects, without AI that can be told to fly a certain way, if its just you and another actual human player? You're gonna get jousting.
At least looting seems a little more lucrative. I did a 55k bunker and sold 32k worth of mostly armor from that bunker at a cargo kiosk. Cargo boxes seem bugged but if you buy a cargo box you can leave it in the local inventory and drag items into it then just sell the box and content at the same cargo kiosk where you just bought the box.

I hope they clarify the wipe chatter of "aUEC and Rentals" since the last part doesn't make sense. Guessing (like everyone else) it means all in-game ships you've purchased plus possibly all inventory.
Rental Ships have a bad habit of not actually leaving your inventory when they're supposed to...
I'm assuming they're going to clean all of those up.
@@Jenan_Tahnik I certainly hope that is the case, but CIG stated last year (? or before) that they can wipe 3 things:
1. aUEC
2. Stuff (inventory)
3. Reputation
I don't see "rental ships" on the known "We can wipe these" list. Ray's Guide did a very good video about the wipe and I think he's on point about what's going to happen.
@@tripperdan They can also wipe ships, as they've done in the past.
A buff for bed logging would be nice! Maybe a short duration to reputation gain or contract payout? Heightened reflexes that affect fps combat and flight controls?

The Quanta/Quantum naming scheme for AI is indeed confusing, when it's used for travel mechanics too. I'd like to see a ToW game-mode at some point, but it should not be a priority.

I have no idea if all the play loops will have higher payouts in .23, to match the 2x, 3x and more aUEC ship prices. If that is not the case, I'll personally be spending a lot less time in the verse, just don't see a point in grinding for months, for things that can arbitrarily be taken away.

Sniper glint is dumb. Its a one in a million perfect situation which has been fixed and countered for decades. Gotta love having a 10,000 lumen light slapped on top of your head for a "recon/stealth" role.

@@KikoLatte No matter what features are added or how complete the game looks or feels, there will always be one final wipe before it goes live. So choosing to 'grind' is a choice you're making with the knowledge that will be erased no matter what happens.

Gotta wipe those credits and ships for the sale! And with most in game ship prices doubling or tripling, won’t it be easier to just buy the ship you want with real money?
I'm very much looking forward to a wipe. I'm legitimately nervous about this game releasing to 1.0 because I feel like by day 30 every player will have billions of credits and every ship in the game, and that would be so boring, not to mention detrimental to the game's longevity.
Wipes give CIG data on how to balance properly so we don't reach endgame in 24 hours, because when everyone is broke they get to see how people get their wealth back.
This is different than grinding meta as the meta becomes apparent, because a lot of meta-grinders are already rich so they only touch meta to learn it as opposed to relying on it to get their first billion.
Theres a ton more data they get from wipes too, like which professions players choose at the start, which factions they choose for rep-building, how many are renting ships vs buying them, and more. All of that stuff has been long abandoned by players because we're all wealthy and just doing whatever right now.

Called ToWs death as soon as it was announced. Stupid idea. Disappointing that there was 1 dev, let alone many high ranking devs, that thought it was viable.
It is, especially as a test bed for upcoming technologies. I suspect they will be using it as a safe environment to test dynamic server meshing.
I just don't like the ship increasing prices: it devaluates even more the aUEC which will be worth nothing..they should have kept the ship prices and rethought expenses, repair and living costs, with drastically reduced incomes for menial works.
On the contrary, entry level roles should pay out more or less what they do now, whether that's Merc work or just package delivery. They should pay even more, actually, with the price changes. Why? So that new players who have just a basic aurora have a relatively quick way to get into the role they want to play in without days of soulless grinding. Those initial days are incredibly important, and without a hook and the learning curve for this game resembling a wall more than a slope, many will just quit.
As a new player I should still be able to grab a Vulture or Prospector within two or three days, if I play three to four hours a day.

When this game isn’t being a time sink with boring shit, it’s trying to screw your character financially. Jousting is crap. Which bodes badly for 42’s success.This games less appealing all the time.
Can you imagine is SQ42 is a great success and the PU never takes off as popular
I think 80% of the player base would be furious. I don't speak for all but many of us have dropped thousands for the PU.
