    Awesome Kit. Way more affordable and addresses rust better than competitors even though the welding install will cost more. Recommend to anyone with rusted out frames

      Thanks, I'm not sure sometimes whether to be more descriptive or try to make the videos move quicker. Difficult line to walk.

    It was nice the jeep engineers made the drum radius the same radius as the patch metal so you can form the curve with a hammer. Love that simplicity. Also like its passive cooling by having the entire roof come off. I'm going to miss this truck when I can afford a non project car.

      @@TabooCustoms I didn’t see a lot of information about body/tub repair… Do you do that kind of work as well, or is there somebody else you could recommend… ? I am up in New Brunswick Canada, so doubtful that you know anybody up my way, but it might be worth my while to make a road trip down your way…
      I’ve rust proofed my vehicle since I’ve owned it, so I am fairly optimistic that the rust is minimal, but I do have some areas on the body that are starting to show. I did manage to get two of the last Mopar fenders available for my TJ, so I’m pretty well covered there!

      We have done some tub repair in the past we just don't have any kits released yet. We do ship a fair amount to Canada, Elin Yakov is one you might try in Canada. He is on UA-cam under that name, he mainly works on Triumphs but has done some work with us in the past on a Jeep. If you did decide you want to travel and bring it down to the US, Rust Revival in Iowa City we recommend a lot.

    Great video! Really like your explanation of your process. I do have a 60's Mercury with rust in the frame rails. Quite similar to how this Jeep looks. I want to make repairs to my car, but I am unsure if I should cut out the rust or do a repair as you have shown and build "repair" patches and weld to the existing frame. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

    Great instruction! I've tried to re-weld the rear axle upper control mount at the axle, after grinding clean the old mount. For some reason, it's not allowing the weld to set. I suppose rewelding the old bracket won't work? It broke off somewhat clean; which is why I'm attempting to reuse it. Is a new one the only material (surface) weldable?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  Рік тому +1

      On the axle end? Both the bracket and axle tube should be easily weldable. What do you mean by didn't set? Maybe sending a picture of what it looks like after you welded it would help. Dave@taboocustoms.com

      We are located in SE Iowa, Montrose IA. But we do have information on installers that may be closer. Per side, I'd say 3-500 on labor plus parts.

    Does anybody know how much will a job like this cost ?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  2 місяці тому

      There will be a lot of variation depending on who does it, where your at and other factors. I will tell you in my area I charge $400-600 a kit installed. Most Jeeps need a couple kits. Once you start to get to where your doing a whole frame or many kits the cost per kit drops some. Some trucks we do get up to $3k total.

    Can this kit be used if you cut out the lower portion of the frame? I noticed you went over the old frame without removing lower portion where the rust is. I would think in time the rust will continue to bleed through to the new piece. I like the kit but wondering if it will still work if the frame is cut out?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  3 роки тому

      Yes, the more rust that can be cut out the better.

    Got a video on removing the gas tank and fuel/brake lines?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  3 роки тому

      Nothing specific, the lines just snap into holders on the inside of the frame. Typically the issue with the removal of the brake lines is rust casing them to break.

      Sorry we currently do not. We just moved into a different shop and wont be setup for quite a while for repair work. We are also located in Montrose IA, so it would be a haul. If you have a local jeep club I typically recommend contacting them and they often know who might do that type of repair in your area. Looking at my list of shops that will do those repairs I do have one in Arcanum OH, Brickhouse Collision & Customs. You might try them.

    What are you using for a welder and wire size?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  3 роки тому

      A 220V welder is needed, not that it isnt possible with a 110 but I cant recommend it. For wire I use .035. As for specific I was using MST 400 with a Lincoln LN7 Feeder, but now I use a Lincoln CV400 and LF 72 feeder.
