I'm sure nobody will get the reference, but the whole chase thing just makes me think of a Benny Hill type scenario. The party starts off chasing a kobold thief. Then a pack of wolves starts chasing the party. Then a griffin swoops down and starts chasing the wolves. Before you know it, theres a whole conga line of PCs and monsters chasing eachother around the wilderness whilst various comedic mishaps occur. Just do a youtube search for 'Benny Hill chase' and you'll get what I mean...
It's another beautiful product again for 5th edition. Although they put the conditions in almost every campaign screens, the addition of the condition cards is a nice idea, give it to players and you can remember it for the next session of play if it's in your folder! The dry erase hex maps are cool if you don't have a nice campaign map to look at, i prefer what they gave us back in the old TSR box: a see through hex grid overlay! Maybe they should've added that and remove one of theirs... Thanks for the vid Naomi!

The box set that comes with the first module of Dragon of Icespire Peak. I'm remembering to get them out for our session tomorrow though! Thanks for that. I do love the artwork on this screen. It's not a must have but good for new players starting out because they have choices for which artwork they want on their screen.

Seeing as you are a new DM let me introduce you to the art of "Hand Waving". You don't really need hit points for every creature. Lets say your party gets attacked by 4 low level street thugs. Well, their hit points are 2 untrained punches, 1 well trained punch, 1 good dice roll or 2 bad ones. Thats it, describe liberally. If their boss comes out, maybe hes a bigger threat requiring 3 good hits or 10 weaker hits. Cost of items is easy. Mundane items should be a few coppers to a silver max. Good items are a few silver Special items, whether crafted, bred or stolen shoul be gold. Adjust higher or lower for quality and rarity and size. Having hand waved prices gives you the opportunity to drain off some coin AND for players to haggle prices. Besides, there is no reason why fresh fish bought from the coast should cost the same as fresh fish, bought further inland "imported" from the coast. Wood is as abundant as any forest, unless you live in a desert or that forest is infested with monsters or a grumpy druid. Playing with prices shows that events like war, famine, plague and distance, matter in your world.

Seems like WOTC didn’t hear all the complaints about the cards being too big to fit sleeves from the DM Essentials Kit. I was hoping they would’ve made them smaller. I cut and laminated my cards.

You could easily download such material without having to pay the prices they charge. I am very glad that I decided to sell all my WOTC DnD books in favor of going back to where I started in Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition. The only edition I actually enjoy.

I like a lot of it, but some I wouldn't use at all (initiative and status/condition cards, same with the dry erase hex maps...rather just use actual physical hex paper so we have a physical copy). It's also annoying that they went with Fahrenheit, but hey, American companies and all that. Would have been nice for them to put both imperial and metric though. .. For $35 though? Hmmm...tough sell. I'll have to think about it.
