Someone needs to say this loud and clear. Nuggets front office is straight up incompetent.
A lot of people our here are saying Calvin Booth sucks. His contact is up after the 24-25 season. So if the Kronke's want to make a change, they can. Maybe throw some money to get Bob Myers. I bet he'd love to build a team around Jokic. Now that I typed, that's actually a great idea.
Serbian fans totally disregard what that championship meant to the city of Denver and only care about their boy racking up the titles so they can say they have the best player of all time. Be a nuggets fan, it's way more fulfilling, guys.
Now I don't know if that's fair! It's the league making it harder to repeat and retain championship caliber players

Valid criticisms:
* Malone does not play young guys which depresses their trade value and exhausts the starters.
* Because of the above, Malone has had friction with several young guys (Isaiah Hartenstein, Bol Bol, Bones Hyland, Thomas Bryant, etc).
* Malone cannot find any successful non-Jokic lineups over multiple years. (This is his worst trait, in my opinion.) Even the random Lakers coaches managed to get value out of undrafted and end-of-bench guys when the stars are sitting.
* Booth gave bad contacts to Reggie Jackson and Zeke Nnaji. The Murray max extension might also turn out to be quite bad.
* Booth traded up in multiple drafts for non-lottery guys when he didn't need to. The risk of losing DaRon Holmes II, for instance, cannot be that big a deal, and certainly not worth three 2nds.
* Booth loses too much value when dumping players (Bones Hyland, Reggie Jackson, etc).
* Malone and Booth don't seem to be on the same page lately.
Things they've done well:
* Nuggets got the 1st seed for the first time in team history.
* Nuggets won their first championship.
* Nuggets tied the team record for wins.
* Nuggets have exceeded the vegas line for wins every year.
* The Bruce Brown signing was the most valuable FA signing in terms of $ per performance in Nuggets history.
* The trade of Will Barton and Monte Morris for KCP and Ish Smith might be the greatest Nuggets trade of all-time.
* Getting high quality minutes from both Braun and Watson means that the 2022 draft was really great. It's difficult to hit on two picks late in the 1st. The jury is still out on the 2023 draft.
* Nuggets are above the 1st apron but not the 2nd. I consider that to be the ideal place to be for multi-year competitiveness.
Neutral:
* Losing Bruce Brown and KCP was pretty much inevitable in both cases. It would have taken too much sacrifice to try to keep either player.
The Murray extension has to happen. He's a great player

Let's see...he traded for Aaron Gordon & KCP for next to nothing, drafted Christian Braun & Peyton Watson, won a championship & now they've added a guy in the draft at the 22nd spot who should have gone in the lottery. I'd say that's the definition of managing Joker's prime quite well. Booth is not the reason the Nuggets gave up a 20+ point lead in the second half against the T-Wolves. If not for the moves Booth made, this team would have never even made the WC Finals, let alone won the title. Fans who know almost nothing about any of these players listen to media geeks who know no more than they do. I trust the people in the organization, not podcasters, UA-camrs or the ecosystem of clowns masquerading as actual sports journalists...which none of them are.

I honestly want to watch the Olympics to see how Vlatko looks. Not expecting him to be 6th man or anything but can he be a reliable body off the bench? If so, its some much needed positive news for our bench. Because beyond that (so far)...yikes.

I was very down on the Westbrook idea, but if Jokić wants him, I will bow to that. As long as we have some good ball handlers, a decent center for the bench, and someone who can make consistent buckets on the bench, then I have hope.

Tho I think letting KCP walk is a mistake I think the fan base needs to take a breath. We still have one of the best cores in basketball and oh yeah the best player on planet earth. The fact that Denver is looked at “not a contender” is completely ludicrous. KCP will be missed no doubt but CB does has potential.
We are doing real good in drafting decent players in the last 5 years, there is no need to break up the original group. Should have done EVERYTHING in our power to bring KCP back.

Jokic requesting a trade after next season
Would it really have mattered if Malone had played the young guys more and they lost a few games? Now they're the 4 seed instead of the 2 seed? The matchup would actually have been better. Meanwhile their young players would have some value and you could trade some of them! Maybe Zeke's contract wouldn't be totally untradeable! Maybe Jalen Pickett would be tradeable for a viable backup point guard. I have no problems with Westbrook for $4.5m though. That's peanuts in the NBA.
If Malone played the young guys any more then the Nuggets could have been in a fight to stay out of the play in.
That would depend on how many games they played. They could have lost 6 more game and still been a 5 seed! And they wouldn't have lost every game either! Not wit Jokic!
I'm not sure how trades work but if nuggets could trade Murray an zeke For Bruce Brown an Immanuel Quickley i'd be very happy with that.. Last time I'll say this Nuggets would not got past Lakers without MPJ 22.5 a game clip in 1st round an he's playing almost every game now Murray the one whos always hurt now.
I have a hard time listening to the analysis of someone who's managed to arrive at the conclusion that Jokic is responsible for the loss of the 20 point lead in game seven, because he gassed. Gee, I wonder why he gassed, when he had multiple seven footers thrown at him at all times, while the players who were supposed to take advantage of that and dish the punishment on the wolves completely disappeared. And no, Jamal is absolutely not good enough. Without Jokic, he's a completely forgettable player that has never made an all star team for a reason. Jokic-Westbrook will be a better pick and roll than Jokic-Murray, and Jokic having both Gordon and Westbrook attacking the rim, will make for a very fun season to watch. Dump Murray.

Plus, the MN series was a parade to the basket for Timberwolves guards....KCP couldn't handle Edwards and Murray can't handle anyone. Forget his streaky shooting.....Moore wants to criticize Jokic's defense.....but apparently Murray's traffic cone defense is a-ok.

Right now Denver is about to undergo growing pains as we find trust and reliability within our bench. Our bench is young and new. We only have 1-2 veterans on the bench.
Nuggets management has some huge wins (winning an NBA title in Denver is as huge as it gets), and a few very real mistakes (although for the most part smallish mistakes as its not like they’ve had multiple top 10 picks bust, which is true of a bunch of other teams). There is just no nuance with Nuggets’ fans right now - 75% of them are writing on boards and comments that the Nuggets FO is the most incompetent in the league, when these fans are apparently paying no attention to what has been going on in D.C. or Charlotte or Portland or Atlanta or Brooklyn or Chicago or Philly (yes its true most of that is in the eastern conference). I’m kinda with Matt in that it is tiresome even though I was very much hoping they’d re-sign KCP.

MPJ is a good shooter it is not about that, problem is that he is too limited in what he can do when he is missing and what he can do in general. He is probably scared to go all out because of the back. And yes I think he is very replaceable and upgradeable. Only scenario for MPJ to be worth having is if they have a good bench to replace him when he is missing.
Things nuggets to address :
Nuggets need a back up bigman that they can actually play in the playoffs.

Nuggets need to search through summer league for some cheap talent, and other ways to find cheap talent.

Booth is Jerry Kraus from the 90s Bulls. This is not the time for a rebuild youth movement. Starting to question his ego and strategy. Pro sports fans in general...including those in the Nuggets fan base...have very little comprehension as to how any of these salary cap considerations work. They also feel like they know more about the players than the coaches, which is stupidity on steroids. Take a good long look at the teams that dump huge amounts of money into free agents. Very rarely does this wind up working, & mostly it destroys a team. I have total confidence that Booth & Malone know what they are doing with this team, including how the evaluate the young players they have been developing.

You were half right. The Nuggets are not good with what they have after the big 4... So locking themselves into a roster without having the whole thing be ready to contend isn't smart.
It was point guard deficiency during the regular season and it was point guard deficiency in the playoffs. They had 5/8 of a starter and an accident waiting to happen at the backup. Blaming Jokic for being tired in game 7? He was demoralized by how lousy his teammates were!🙃😡
I think this year shows home court isn't that important. Getting the starters to the playoff in a good shape is much more important than getting the number 1 seed.
It starts with why did we lose last year? If you believe the team it was b/c our starters were worn out. If that is true then different analysis but if so, then the fault lies with Malone not playing the youth not the front office.

Strawther I liked the best out of those 3, but still there were better names on the board at all of those picks (not only did they not take those 3 above, but those 3 went to GSW, Memphis, Minnesota all teams in the west who are 45-55 win teams if 100% healthy).

If you feel you have a top 3-5 title contender signing KCP to 3 yrs 66 million and going into 2nd apron makes sense imo. I do like Braun it’s just the depth takes a big hit without KCP at the very least and their bench already wasn’t very good.
I do agree Westbrook at the minimum for energy, swagger, leadership off the bench playing 10-15 mins + also a guy who loves to encourage + cheer on teammates Westbrook is a no brainer. If he gives you what he did LAC last yr off bench for minimum that’s decent value. The biggest issue on the lakers was he was making a horrid 48 million per yr past prime + bad fit. If he’s 2-3 million per yr off bench energy guy with some DNPs + 15-20 mpg that’s diff then 35 mpg making 48 million (24x more!).
