- Join us as we spend the day at Chessington World Of Adventures for the 2019 Annual Pass Preview Day! In this vlog we check out the many different changes across the park for the new season. We also share a mix of on and off ride footage from some of our favourite rides at the park including Vampire, Zufari and The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure.
We also check out the maintenance work that's still taking place on some of the rides across the park along with sharing our thoughts on whether the park is ready to fully open for the 2019 season. The Gruffalo has purple prickles, the book says "His eyes are orange, his tongue is black, he has purple prickles all over his back" along with other descriptions of what he looks like. (I know people are probably not interested but unfortunately I know most of the book without looking at it thanks to having to read it at work a lot)

I felt disappointed at Chessington for the MAP day. The park looked dated and in need of freshening up.
As for Tiger Rock I’m in 2 minds if to ride it or not this season after seeing all the scaffolding everywhere.

I arrived early @ Chessington today (Sunday) to catch Broom @ 10am. **good tip** Zufari was virtually walk-on and Gruffalo woz 30 mins. Tomb was 75mins so left it. Funny Alex interaction with Jack

I think at the beginning of the day, the reason that the queue times are wrong is because there's not enough data yet to calculate the real values. Once there's a good hour or hour and a half of detectable traffic, it should settle to something reasonable. It can't accurately predict how long people stand in the queue when no one has yet. Same can be said for if a ride goes down and back up again, the system resets and gives out bad readings. Thanks for another great vlog guys, wonderful to see you both. :)

I'm honestly quite surprised that the park still isn't ready. It feels like an eternity since Howl'o'Ween and I'd expect something like Seastorm to be ready, definitely!

It was just so un-expected!
The coffins are old as I have seen a photo from the 1990’s but I think they have been painted! Also tiger rock was testing later that day so I think it is operating with scaffolding.

I agree with you but i think that for a merlin park the ride closures are unacceptable. It would be ok if it was just one ride. They have had sooo long to prepare!

Remember that Vamp/Gruffalo/Buccaneer/Seastorm plus a few others were all open until early January for the Winter event, so they definitely haven’t had the normal winter maintenance schedule that Towers and Thorpe have had.
They really shouldn't be opening rides over winter if they can't get them ready for the main season in my opinion!
The coffins were definitely outside Vampire at Howl'o'Ween but I can't remember if I saw them before then, I'll have to check through my photos!
Regarding the America trip (and actually any abroad trip that you do. Even if you've done one before for the park but get there a different way) I'd love a travel vlog! The excitement of travelling to the park as well as the information of how to get there are as good the vlogs imo! Keep up the great content guys. Look forward to the next video :)

I love your vlogs together you make them so enjoyable. I think the parks should have everything going really i mean the other parks that you visited in Europe before Christmas they had rides going . Our parks have been closed much longer you would think that everything would be ready im mean theme parks make a lot of money they should be up running and everything sorted its not good for the general public who pay good money and deserve better service . Btw yesterday, somebody got stuck half way up tiger rock! They obviously hadn't fixed it properly. Now it's up and running, yay!

The effect on zufari wasn't working when I went last September 2018.
It's crazy how they haven't fixed it over winter!
Black Buccaneer, Dragons Fury, Griffins Galleon, Ramases Revenge, Rattle Snake, Scorpion Express, Tiger Rock, Vampire & Room on the Broom were all closed on the official opening day of Chessington. I completely understand about some of them being closed because of the weather issues, but not having at least 4 of the rides not finished really for opening day, plus ROTB being down all day due to "technically problems" just isn't good really. Also noticed though that Chessington would then be closed the following day after opening (Monday 11th) until it reopens again this weekend (Saturday 16th). Feels more like next weekend will be the "Official Opening Day" not Sunday just gone.

Was awesome to see you on park and of course have a catch up with you both aswell!! We had a few issues with wind alarms but ,ade the most of our day.....must have only been a few minutes between you ending the clip before dragons fury and us shouting themeparkworldwide on youtube to you both!!

That grand opening of Just Chicken was wonderful! I would love to see chatty Vlogs from your American trip. Like just chatting in the hotel room reviewing the day(s) and what you did/how unbelievable its been, doesn't need to be every day. Even a big long vlog talking about it all when you get home would be great.

At the end you should do a award show type thing saying your favourite roller coaster theme park food hotel and car park
I went to Chessington in august and black buccaneer was shut, vampire was on one car and the queue was 2 hours , dragons fury was slow and noisy , tiger rock was closed half the day and I managed to get on as one of the first cars. Overall , not looking good for Chessington
Added to that was the fact that on zufari a giraffe had a tranquil dart in his rear end,rhinos where looking placid and didn’t have space. Although one upside was Ramses revenge was running wonderfully. Chessington is looking bad on merlons record and Merlin is 8nvesting a lot more money in Alton and LEGOLAND, while Chessington and Thorpe are lacking

My opinion on maintenance is that I would prefer something not to be open when if it’s not safe and also I would prefer any theme park to focus on making sure that all the main roller coasters and popular attractions are maintained for, how many months that the theme park is closed for, because the other rides that aren’t popular wouldn’t affect me personally if they were open, but the standard should be to make sure that all the main coasters and popular attractions are maintained well and ready for opening day.

I think the worst thing you can experience at a major theme park especially a Merlin park is seeing rides in pieces, it looks untidy plus guests will complain that rides are closed

It's my favorite theme park and the queues in Summer on the weekend are MAX 30-60 minutes! Also you get free entry on the day of your birthday!

Got to we went last Saturday. First weekends. What a waste. All water rides shut due to maintenance. The wind shut Vampire and Dragon furry and rattle snake. Small boat storm was shut. The big boat was shut. So everyone was at gruffalo and Room on a broom and sea life. Or went home.no money back for bad weather

My partner went to Chessington on Sunday just gone and none of the coasters were open due to weather conditions and Room on the broom was shut due to technical difficulties for the whole time he was there. Needs a good old update in my opinion.

My Florida theme park work mates always burst into the animal kingdom avatar song lol ALEX version was amazing .
As for the maintenance debate, I think that if they are going to charge full admission price on opening day, everything should be finished. I understand that for some older rides, maintenance takes longer and has to take more are, but surely, Merlin a multi billion pound global corporation can account for the additional time needed to maintain and look after these rides over winter in order to have them back for opening day. It just seems a bit sloppy for Merlin to be charging so highly for reduced offering. Like I say, I'm not slating or dissing Merlin, they do a fantastic job with these parks (sometimes), It's just that I think personally with the 4 months of closed season, they should be able to dismantle, repair or replace parts and have it built and tested ready for people on opening day of a park.
It puzzles me how Blackpool Pleasure Beach are able to maintain and keep Britain's oldest rides running for an opening day (OK maybe not the best scenario given this year's offering), but they manage to do it with very little downtime on the whole, Yet a huge corporation like Merlin struggle.

I agree with your comments about chessington. Although it is more family orientated it used to have the best theming. Considering merlin is a world market leader I find the parks are over shadowed by europa park, phantasialand, well any European park. I haven’t been to Alton towers for years due to short opening times. If you share your views you never get a response. I wish you had more influence Shaun. Minnie rant over. Always enjoy the videos

Although I know you guys didn’t pay full price for your trip that day, but if I came to the park and paid £30 for a ticket and saw so many rides not ready for the season, I would feel cheated! Merlin should either open the parks when they are ready or charge less for entry at the beginning of the season when not everything will be open

Some parks have a shorter off season than the UK merlin parks so their rides and park should be ready in time for the season

So sad that Transylvania is basically gone and bubble works has been replaced with the bloody gruffalo, couldn’t they have brought bubble works in to the 21st century, like an update and re launch would have been amazing
Don't understand why tiger rock has scaffolding, it's had a revamp, it should be working fine, if not they've had closed season to get it done. Everything should be ready if not ,half price entry until it is .they would soon get there act together. That boats been out for a whole year i think.

I always been a themepark fan but never been activly part of the community only in the last 4 years .I made new friends that are realy into parks. I enjoy going to parks with my other friends but its just fun to be with the ppl who enjoy it as much as u do. I start listening to dutch themepark podcasts. I hope to see more vlogs of new parks.I also would love a vlog with ppl with disabillities and visiting a park and see how they experience it. I understand that sometimes its the safety rules that prevent ppl from going on rides and usually not that they can.t ride but more about the evacuation when a ride would stall. I hope manufacturers will find solutions for ppl to ride too with new inventions in technology by having special ride vehicles or ways to evacuate . Keep doing what u do.Only question remains ?? Where are the goats ??? 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐😂

I guess they should have rides sorted for opening day buuuuttt I have to say as long as the staple rides which would attract many people to the park are open, the pirate ship and sea storm not being open isn’t too much of an inconvenience but maybe tiger rock as people was attracted to Chessington last season for the flume

Wow, I don’t know how to feel about Chessington this year, seems to be lacking in atmosphere especially with some rides closed, run down theming and scaffolding around Tiger Rock. As for the America trip, can’t remember if you’re going near there but I’d like to see a closed park documentary on Six Flags New Orleans, similar to the American Adventure one you did!

When you go to Orlando, what theme parks are you going to be going to?
We'll be visiting all the Disney and Universal parks along with Sea World, Busch Gardens and the Fun Spots!
I think that the parks should be open all year and do maintenance like the Disney parks. Or they could open like europa park; having a Christmas season and a summer season.
Keep a running tally (coaster-counter) during your US trip. Maybe an active map of the trip as well?
