Hi, James. Great videos. I'm just now immersing myself into Polizio after roughly 20 years of being obsessed with the Italian master composers like Micalizzi, Morricone, Cipriani, the brothers de Angelis, and those normally outside the Polizio genre like Umiliani, Piccioni, etc. I had of course been familiar with the films and many of their plots via the artwork, cross-readings and parallel to my detailed viewings and readings of Spaghetti Westerns, so I am working through your channel as a companion to my current Polizio obsession. What sets your videos apart in my opinion is your ability to articulate the importance of these films using descriptive terminology beyond a generic retelling of the plot, along with your ability to do so in a very concise and interesting way. I hope you'll keep the videos coming and I'd even look forward to a few more Spag videos. Thanks!
Right on. Thanks for following. Really appreciate the kind words. Yeah I love spags too and was my first Italian genre love. It's been more covered than poliziottescho so I haven't focused on it but it's a good idea to do a few eps there as the genres are very interconnected.
I really like Tony Arzenta (1973) a lot, I love most of Delon's French crime movies anyway like Two Men in Town (1973), Three Men to Kill (1980), For a Cop's Hide (1981) or The Figther (1983), I suppose they could count as eurocrime given the location. I also have a soft spot the slightly cheaper productions like The Eye of the Spider (1971), Emergency Squad (1974) or Meet Him and Die (1976), shoestring crimers usually have a smaller cast which I quite like they're to the point with basic stories that tend to leave out weird sub plots or too many wacky characters.
Right on. I'll need to check out those Delon films. I'm also a big fan of Arzenta, just ordered the blu ray from Radiance so I'll definitely review that later this year or early next year.
Great to see your video. I love the Di Leo trilogy too probably the Connection best. I really like the Brescia/Merola flicks of the late 70s and early 80s. I am trying to remember a flick maybe you can remember the name at the start of it a guy is putting together a machine gin and in slow motion he starts blasting everyone in the room. Anyway, thanks for new.
Those Brescia/Merola films are some deep cuts. I like a few of them too.. Hmm, I thought on this for a few days but nothing comes to mind. If I think of it I'll comment back here.
Great viideo. I maybe would put in the list Rabid Dogs 1974, and at least one Merli. Unfortunately I can't say which one I liked the most. Don't remember ... And I LOOOOOVE The Suspicious Death of a Minor.
Thank you! Yeah maybe Violent Naples for Merli. I'm in general a little lukewarm on his films. That's a good reminder. Rabid Dogs I am very due for a rewatch, saw it super early in my poliziotteschi journey and haven't revisited yet. Really liked it but it was my first Bava, would see it very differently now.
@@italianpoliziotteschigialli Yeah, I have to rewatch it too. But I am a little bit confused with the 2 versions and I have no idea which one I watched many years ago ...

Great video, James. Do you own most of these?
Um good question. I ran through them and own 7 of 12. Most recent acquisition was Tony Arzenta.
@@italianpoliziotteschigialli Nice! Alain Delon passed on the 18th. My favorite performance of his was in Le Samourai.
Great video, thank you, James! Gives me many new films to see.
Thank you. Enjoy! Some fun ones in here for sure :).

Great channel. Are you on Facebook?
Nope, not on facebook.
@@italianpoliziotteschigialli That’s a shame because there are some good groups for poliziotteschi and gialli.
