All great films there. A few I'd also recommend; So Sweet, So Dead (1972), Death Walks on High Heels (1971), The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion (1970) and Smile Before Death (1972). I definitely agree that The Fifth Cord (1971) is one of the best looking gialli ever if not the best, superb photography and it doesn't hurt it to have Silvia Monti co-starring either one of the most beautiful actresses ever in front of a camera, makes a Claudia Cadinale seem almost ordinary by comparison. Caught her in The Sicilian Connection (1972) recently, stunning there too.
All good picks. I like both of those Ercoli films. One of those directors that has a handful of good films but is always a little under the radar.
Nice list. Glad to see House of the laughing ... and Tarantula in there! -
A few underseen and underrated (in my opinion) that come to mind:
- A Quiet Place in the Country 1968
- Plot of Fear 1976
- The Double 1971
. Dagger Eyes 1983 (aka Mystère)
- Psychout for Murder 1969
- Eye in the Labyrinth 1972
- Puzzle 1974
- The Weekend Murders 1970
- In the Eye of the Hurricane 1971
Right on. Good list! These are like the graduate level gialli deep cuts. I think my favorites of those are The Double and The Weekend Murders.
@@italianpoliziotteschigialli Yeah, both are great. I wished there were better versions of both. Or are they? Haven't checked for years.
@@the3rdpillblog934 Not to my knowledge either. I have memories of watching fairly poor quality versions of all of those with the possible exceptions of Plot of Fear and A Quiet Place in the Country.
Discovered your channel just last week. Was looking for a list of good poliziotteschi film to get started with and you channel has been a great help. I started with Italian horror and have since moved to gialli. It is a great list you have made. My own favorite from your list is Who Saw Her Die - the setting and atmosphere is second to none. If we include the great gialli directors, Lizard in a Woman's Skin and Deep Red fill out my top 3.
Right on. Yeah I love the big three or four directors a lot, but there's a lot of great films beyond just those too. it's nice that these films are available now too.
I really like Who Saw Her Die, but go back and forth between that and Short Night of Glass Dolls as my favorite Aldo Lado film. An embarrassment of riches!
Thanks for following!
This is a great video James.
It has actually given me an idea possibly for our new stream ;).
Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Sounds good. Had a very fun time on the last one.
Great list, I think it's important to let people know about these lesser seen Gialli. Good to see The Killer must kill again that film is so underrated. Keep up the good work James looking forward to doing our next live stream.
Thank you! Yes I love that film. Always surprised to see how seldomly it is mentioned. Looking forward to it.
Hi James. I found your channel a few months ago and have been bingeing non stop. Thanks for all the Damiano Damiani . I love Confession of a Police Captain & as far as Amityville films go -Possession is the only good one.
Thanks for following! Yeah Damiani is one of those directors that has a ton of good films but his name is relatively unsung.
when you google Damiano Damiani , you are front & center. pretty cool
That's amazing. I guess I am winning at the super niche google search terms :).
