A great video for newer GIS professionals like myself (~2 years FTE). I've already registered, but I was pretty much clueless as to where to go from there. This video was very insightful and answered my question about when exactly the "clock starts ticking". Thanks!
Joe - Can you please contact us at info@egisassociates.com. You have been selected as one of the comment winners in our contest to reach 2000 subs. You will receive a copy of the ArcGIS Pro 2.x Cookbook eBook. Details will be provided once you contact us. Congrats.
It was a very helpful video! I passed an exam in June 2019 and now I am working on my portfolio. GISCI should definately link this series of GISP videos on their website! Thank you!
Thanks you for the details video, Please could you confirm the minimum number of correct answer based on 190 question ? or If not achieve that number , what is next procedure ?
Good question. The minimum score needed to pass the exam is 75%. If you fail to meet or exceed that score you do not pass. If you do not pass you may retake the exam the next time it is offered. If you fail it a second time you must wait at least a year before you can retake it a third time. Each time you take the exam you have to pay the exam fee. Before anyone gets mad about that, this is largely a function of the PSI, the company which hosts the exam. They have a fee for each person taking the exam regardless of how many times you may have taken it. So most of the exam fee goes to PSI, not GISCI. You might want to look at the Exam Candidates Manual which you can download from the GISCI website. Here is the link - www.gisci.org/Portals/0/PDF's/EXAM%20CANDIDATE%20MANUAL%207-1-18.pdf. Hope this answers your question.
@@eGISAssociates Wait, so now I have to wait until the exam is offered in the Winter? That might be the worst news I've heard all year. "Hey, you suck at taking exams and failed again. Let that fester an entire year before getting this part of the process behind you". UHHHGGGGG!
@@meganbleess8671 It all depends on how many times you were not successful at passing the exam. If you have taken it once and not passed, then you could sign up to take it this summer. However if you have failed to pass it twice, then yes you must wait 12 months to take it again. That is what GISCI has told us. So please don't shoot the messenger.
Thank you for the insightful video. But slide 9 says that there is no renewal fee and yet there is a $95 fee every year. Can you please elaborate on this?
The $95 is the annual fee for maintaining the Certification. GISCI does not charge an additional fee to renew on top of the annual fee. Prior to the exam and the move to the 3 year renewal, GISCI only changed you a fee when you renewed. Hope this helps and makes sense.
Sadly there are not that many out there. GISCI has a few listed on their site - www.gisci.org/ExamInfo/ExamCandidateInformation/ExamPreparationInfo.aspx. URISA has been offering a one day workshop at their conferences such as GIS-Pro - www.urisa.org/gis-pro. Also TeachMeGIS has a class they offer as well - teachmegis.com/outlines/1-GISP-100.pdf. Hope this helps
