      @@thelonegroover Thank you, I like to see detail as well especially in difficult areas that’s not so obvious on video or how the video was shot. Thanks for the lovely comment 👍

    You have to show everything because that is where people will get stuck and give up. You really are trying to make it factory spec which is difficult. I've some rust to do but it won't be factory spec, just solid. The joy when it's all done will be worth it 😊👍🇮🇪

      Thank you Terry, yes you’re absolutely right there! Me recording these videos does encourage me to try and get it right in the end and also to carry on, as you say it encourages others to carry on as well, I’ve been there myself and have nearly given up on a project because of the frustrations of not getting it right.
      As you say as long as you make the repair strong again it really doesn’t matter what it looks like, as long as your car passes the NCT test then it doesn’t matter the car is on the road for another few years hopefully.
      Thank you for the encouragement. Steve.

    Hi Steve, a very interesting video as always mate I really don't think you need to worry about how much content you are including as I think you have got the balance pretty much spot on, we need enough content so people that are learning from this need to know what and how you are doing it so I would keep it as it is👌
    Repairing rust and fabricating new patch panels is a soul destroying endless task which is why a lot of people start their projects thinking it doesn't take long then end up getting disheartened and stops but both you and I knows it takes about 10 times longer than other people think it does, it's been many years since I was crawling under a car doing what you are here but you are doing a fantastic job mate👏👏👌👍

      Hi John thanks very much! It’s good to hear everyone’s opinion and so far it’s really positive so I’m really happy with that, and hearing that I’m getting the balance right as well, especially this type of work and as you say it is soul destroying as you seem like your not getting any where fast, I’m really pleased that everyone is enjoying what I put up as the way I have been presenting these videos feels right to me.
      Like you say many people give up (me included at one stage) because it’s so frustrating not getting anything right! But this project seems to be going well, I think that’s because I haven’t put to much pressure on myself getting perfect. Expectations have a big part to play on how a project turns out.
      Thanks mate hope all is well with you all the best. Steve.

      I really like all your videos mate as it takes me back to when I was in my 20's doing all my own car maintenance, the problem with modern cars is that you can't do much to the engine or electrics without a degree in computer science and own all the diagnostic software🤬😅
      I'm not to bad mate but I might have high BP so I'm having tests at the doc on Wednesday, not a huge fan of needles💉😦hope you are keeping well mate🤞🤞cheers Steeve👍

      @JohnWD40TC02 thanks very much John!!! That means a lot to me mate!
      Unfortunately it’s even worse that that, you can’t weld new cars unless you have the high strength steel welding wire, a lot of panels are glued together using a special adhesive I think this stuff is mega expensive hence one of the reasons that modern cars get written off so quickly.
      I’m sorry to hear of you health issues, I hope it’s nothing to serious mate! All good with me just so busy of late! Cheers mate

    Tip: from someone who’s been in the game for 35 years you definitely want to use weld to spray on any plate that overlaps to form a seam, I use Upol Copper Weld To Spray some use Zinc but I find copper has the best anti corrosion properties, it’s not cheap but if you don’t spray up the surfaces it WILL rot through.

    • @Cavalier_Steve
      @Cavalier_Steve  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you Noel, I thought the zinc stuff i was using would suffice, I have ordered a couple of tins of the upol copper weld, I will use that from now on.
      Thanks again for the tip, Kind regards Steve.

    Excellant work again steve. Stop being so hard on yourself, you are doing a cracking job and showing it warts and all.
    I think people need to understand that this work takes ages, even by people that haev been doing it for years. This is why a decent body shop & welder are a) worth thier weight in gold and b) expensive!
    i assume it will all be done for Vauxall and i can see the cav in all its glory? Just over a month to go........

      Thanks Alan, yeah I know I’m terrible aren’t I!
      Yes I agree with you I want to show everything as I feel it’s important to show everything, the stuff that does get shown is so reduced down that these projects can seem like a doddle, so much work goes into this I know you understand this yourself.
      Oh yeah! At rate that I’m progressing at it should be done next week 🤣🤣 thanks for your support as always Alan! 👍👍

    Hi Steve I think the time lapse thing is a great thing many people do with their videos now, I'm going to maybe start doing it with mine as I tend to miss out recording the long bits, but that's what people want to see. I done a video the other day and absolutely everything went to shit lol I turned the camera off and just got on with it; some days are like that. Great work as usual on your cav, fiddly bit that corner, especially the bumper hanger bit that's a pain to try and get right unless you have a cut off or a template from another car, if you get it too proud or too far in the bumper doesn't sit/mount right. Good stuff anyway 👍

    • @Cavalier_Steve
      @Cavalier_Steve  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Andy, thank you, I like the time lapses as it still shows what your doing whilst keeping the viewer engaged, that's the idea anyway, that way when stuff goes wrong you can show those bits if you want to.
      It's so frustrating when things go wrong but sometimes those videos can be more entertaining and people can learn from those mistakes or see how you come up to get round the issue if it's something like a sheared bolt or something like that. Keep them coming though Andy, working on cars is very annoying sometimes especially when things don't goto plan.
      Thanks for your support as always though mate, yes your right about the bumper hanger that's why I really wanted to use the old one m as I know it's right, I think rhe next video working on this would be interesting though... cheers Andy. 🍻

       @Cavalier_Steve Hi Steve always only to happy to support your channel, your working on cavaliers so it's interesting to see how you approach more or less the same bits I've had to fix.
      Yeah I did tend to spend a lot of time editing out bits of my videos but I reckoned what's the point, need to include the warts n all!
      Sometimes they really go to crap though or I'm in a real rush and don't have the time to set up and think a bit more as you have to do when recording.
      Glad to see it's all progressing and look forward to catching up on your next videos :)
