Daniel, Yes I enjoyed it greatly. Great video. Lots of fish, accurate shots and educational. What a great day in the water. Many thanks for all your efforts and enthusiasm.
So interesting, pollock for me its a very mild flavored fish so i always go for raw recipes like ceviche or i aged the fish for 2 or 3 days. Definitely gonna try this next! Thanks daniel always great
Absolutely love your recipes. Will definitely try this out. Last week I gave the salt baked fish a go. It went so good I cooked it again the day after!
.You should take care of Anisakis worm... This fish is a predator like a cod, I think it is better to freeze the fish during few days before eating it raw, even if the flesh was salted😉
If we are talking about a challenge, Mediteranian in (Croatia and Italy) is a real challenge. Try to spear some fish where fish is nowere to be seen..😂
Now just need to get some fish, I really like the idea of adding shot of vodka to it, this should improve marinating process. When you freeze fish for just 2-3 days, do you wrap it in paper towels? myself I try to avoid using plastic bags on any raw fish. Must start doing that with pollock, since I refuse to buy any farmed salmon but would love something similar with sliced tomato and white mozzarella on bread.
Goodmorning mate, that was a fishy day! Almost every shot a headshot, leaving the fillets perfect! Nice fishing and a great total catch! Happy new month! 👊😎
I make gravlax on a fairly regular basis with salmon, but I've never tried to cure a white flesh fish... I think there is a cured rock fish in my future!
Next time try to make a dip with 50pct. mustard, 20pct.dild, 20pct.brown sugar, pinch of salt and 10pct.oliveoil put it on top of your fish. I use it mostly on gravad salmon but Is allso pretty good with the pollack and cod version. 👌🐟 its allso greate as a marinade for fish on barbecue! 😅
Nice. That looks like it would be a nice option for our Spotted Sea Trout here. Not exactly a cold water fish, but definitely a light and soft variety.
I’ve seen other videos using a similar weight method, however, I cure my game meat quite often, and I don’t believe putting weight on top of the curing meat/fish is necessary. If you’re crunched for fridge space, put the meat in a ziplock bag, and flip it every 12 hours or so for a few days. It’ll cure just fine and you’ll get the same result.
Great catch. My only word of advice is to not use paper towels when brushing off the fish @11:06 simple due to the fact that paper towels are bleached in toxic chemicals. Many people don't know this but easy to research online.
Not sure about that. Always sightings of porbeagle sharks in England on the south coast, especially around Dorset during the summer. Certainly not a new thing. People always line fish for mako & blue sharks too.
Luciano , Brazil obrigado
Combination of many things. Looking at google maps, nautical charts, navionics, local knowledge and then of course after that it’s finding out what makes a spot work. Some places are dead on one tide and alive a few hours later on the other. Take a lot of time in the water.
How are you liking the mares foot pockets? I tought they could only be used with the new mares blades. Did you screw the blades in or did you glue them? I'm thinking of selling them in my store but was looking for first hand reviews from individuals. Thanks!
I really like the new X wing pockets. Fit really nicely with my DiveR Innegras. I screwed the blades in with the fixing kit. A welcome upgrade from the older Mares razor pockets.
Hi its the yank in Germany! Coming up to England next week and wanted to dive the southern shore! How can i find some people, charters, or dive spots? I have learned so much from your channel. Cant say Thank You enough!!! Is it ok to ask where u are located?
Just a tip - if you gut straight away you minimise the amount of worms that make their way into the flesh. Always do it straight away now and it makes such a difference.
It is such a vast coastline I can’t really answer that. Vis is generally better on a high tide if you’re near a river but so many other factors go in to it. More importantly, when the slack water is.
Hey Daniel, AWESOME content.... quick question For the curing mix, if someone cannot use Vodka or alcohol liquid, what non-alcoholic alternative can you recommend ?
Fab recipe Daniel…. Now to catch some pollock. Been dire up here in NE Scotland, heading west soon towards Skye for better luck I hope. Love the videos and the cook ups, keep ‘em coming !!! ❤
Thanks @@DanielMann. Your UK coast is quite similar to what I have over here (murky and lack of fish close to shore). I will try your method to swim further like this.
@@DanielMann Thank you Daniel! Oh I can see it now you've mentioned it :P Might have to try it and hope I don't get some strange looks.. or maybe even start a new trend! 😅
Yes I am feeding myself and my family. Catch and release just tortures the fish and throws it back with some degree of mortality so you can’t tell me you have a moral high ground.
It's nice to have a breath hold like yours ..being inspired with your videos
For fishers in Australia. It's tailor season and tailor are great to make gravad lax/gravadlax/gravlax with.
Im definitely trying your recipe can't wait to try it
Brilliant video, love gravlax! Good to see you back in England with some great spearing :)
Cheers Ben, been out quite a lot in the past few months which is nice.
Chapel in the water ❤❤❤
Interesting and different recipe, might try it. Another cool video, thanks!!
Scott Mann is a legend
Yes he is
Love your videos!👍
Thank you!
One of the most enjoyable episodes so far. Nice shot placement, testing visibility and buddy diving 👈👍👍👍
Who are you and what have you done with big bopper?
@@DanielMann Credit when credit is due Dan. I reserve the right to call bullshit from time to time. 😎 I've earned it 👈
Daniel....I just arrived at work and saw this video posted. Am looking forward to watching this tonight....Thanks for posting it.
Hope you enjoy Mark!

Loved the recipe in this video!
Good to see you back in The Mother Land.. I'll be trying that recipe for sure ❤
Daniel is back Let’s gooooo❤

I prefer your spearfishing sessions in England more then Australia, much more challenging! thanx for the delicious recipe mate!
If we are talking about a challenge, Mediteranian in (Croatia and Italy) is a real challenge. Try to spear some fish where fish is nowere to be seen..😂
Different challenges in the U.K. and Australia. Of course the Mediterranean is most difficult but also easier for other reasons.

Kalimera Dimos. The b32’s are working really well for me! Hopefully some more nice catches to come this summer.

I'm inspired by that recipe! will try it with NZ Butterfish. Kia ora!
Thanks mate! Let us know how it goes! Would also go well with kahawai I suspect.
Looks great, sounds easy,
Yahoooo
Good skills on the gravalax and an epic dive. 🤿
Cheers!

Would definitely work well with a sea trout.
nice work Dan bloody awesome as always
Thanks mate!
Fantastic vid. Thanks!
Cheers mate!
Gosh! What a catch!
Cheers Zac!
Nice spearing Mate! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers Gazza!
I made recently some bass gravlax with grated beetroot, amazing color and flavor!
Sounds great, I've seen that done before in Sweden. Will have to give it a try next time.
@@DanielMann if you have a juice extractor, I believe you can also use the juice

Wonderful content Daniel. Keep up the hard work.👏
Nice one Dan - eating pollack gravlax tonight with the family following your recipe…
Hope it’s a hit!
Complimenti belle catture, un saluto.
Grazie Mario!
I'm gonna try this recipe with mullets
Let me know how it turns out 🙂
Have you seen any sharks off the south coast in recent years? Supposedly there are more to be seen due to conservation efforts over in Ireland…
Not sure about that. Always sightings of porbeagle sharks in England on the south coast, especially around Dorset during the summer. Certainly not a new thing. People always line fish for mako & blue sharks too.
nice hunt and the gravlax looked excellent
Thank you! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it if you try it yourself.
Amazing video as usual, keep up the good work!
Superb video, that fish looked beautiful, was that a viewing window on that float?
Thank you. Yes it’s a clear bubble but not really great for looking through.
Chouette vidéo :)
Pourrais tu faire une mise à jour concernant ton équipement et celui de ton ami ?
Ton fusil et ta bouée ont l’air top !
Bonne continuation 🙏
Merci! The speargun is a Meandros B32 75cm and the buoy is the Sevylor dive hunter. Sadly the buoy is no longer manufactured.

Hi Daniel, love the videos
do you have a technique for finding good spearing spots?
Cheers
Combination of many things. Looking at google maps, nautical charts, navionics, local knowledge and then of course after that it’s finding out what makes a spot work. Some places are dead on one tide and alive a few hours later on the other. Take a lot of time in the water.

You can check out UK Spearfishing buddies on Facebook or the Frenchman ltd does charters.
Victorinox boning knife is the 🐐 filleting knife
Can’t beat it!
Just a tip - if you gut straight away you minimise the amount of worms that make their way into the flesh. Always do it straight away now and it makes such a difference.
Good to know. I’ve found worms in bass though right up in the shoulders even after filleting the same day. I guess some fish have more than others.
Another one🎉🔥
Where do you usually dive near London?
Sussex.
Great video as always! Just wondering, when you dive the channel coast, what tides do you find the best vis and/or most fish numbers?
It is such a vast coastline I can’t really answer that. Vis is generally better on a high tide if you’re near a river but so many other factors go in to it. More importantly, when the slack water is.
Hey Daniel, AWESOME content.... quick question

Thank you. You can omit the vodka. It will work the same just a slightly different flavour.

Cheers Fraser, loads of pollack in that part of the country, have fun!
@@DanielMann By the way, went to buy a tee shirt, the bluey coloured one but out of stock… any more coming?
Appreciated! I’ve not got a new order coming yet for shirts but maybe in the next few months sorry.
@@DanielMann No problem, thanks for the response….
Hay Daniel! I've been a subscriber for a while, and i just love your content. can you please tell me the brand of the float you are using?
Thank you! It’s a Sevylor dive hunter. Sadly discontinued some years ago.
Hey Daniel, how far were you from the shore to that spot? 1, 2km or closer?
Less than 1km at this particular spot. It just gets deep quickly.
Thanks @@DanielMann. Your UK coast is quite similar to what I have over here (murky and lack of fish close to shore). I will try your method to swim further like this.
Nice one ❤
Thankyou!
How do you make sire they are above the size limit before shooting them?
Shape of the fish. Juveniles look and swim differently. Can also gauge by other things underwater. If in doubt, don’t shoot.
@@DanielMann thanks, love the videos
What size gun should i get for UK waters please?
I use a 75cm and 90cm.
Is there any sharks in those waters or is it too cold?
Yes we have blue, mako, porbeagle as well as basking sharks.
Nice video
Thank you 🙂
Love your videos.
Question, do you ever have trouble with mask leaking due to face stubble?
It's stressing me out!
No, I just shave the 5mm below my nose and the mask seals great.
@@DanielMann Thank you Daniel!
Oh I can see it now you've mentioned it :P
Might have to try it and hope I don't get some strange looks.. or maybe even start a new trend! 😅
nice man
Can u explaine the setting of your speargun ? Tnx
75cm gun, 6.25mm shaft and 17.5mm band.
@@DanielMann I wait for you in Sicily for a holiday :)
would this work with aussi salmon ?
I’ve never shot one but I don’t see why not.
Dans Book of Recipes😂🤙
Got to keep a few for the second edition 🤓
Great catches and final recipe Daniel! Do I need any permits to fish in England? I would like to fish there one day
Ciao Mario, no permits for spearfishing but in some areas you need to pay for a shellfish license which is easy online.
@@DanielMann thank you!!
👍
Moi maintenant je ne mange plus du tout de lieu, ni de bar frais, obligé de le mettre au congélateur car les poissons sont remplis de vert anisakis ….
Where is this?
South coast of England.
HALLLL EEEEE BBOOOOOOOOOOOOT
You say pollock with vodka??? Hmmm🤔....
Just a little hint of it.
Great but unfortunately there is no catch and release . Kill ,kill kill . Human cannot help themselves .
Yes I am feeding myself and my family. Catch and release just tortures the fish and throws it back with some degree of mortality so you can’t tell me you have a moral high ground.
I release loads of fish by not taking them and letting them swim away.
@@DanielMann you took the bait . Well played .Nice cooking .
