The other film I found really creepy was The Black Phone Ethan Hawke was so good in his role. Another very recent watch was Cobweb suitably creepy as well as Japanese Ringu.
Absolutely! And I tell anyone who didn't like The Black Phone to watch it with the subtitles on and it becomes an entirely new and horrifying film. I agree about Ringu and it's actually in the video I'm uploading right now of Japanese and Korean Horror Movies. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
One that still gets me after all these years is the episode titled " A Drop of Water" from Mario Bava's anthology film Black Sabbath. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is another that fills me with dread
Yes!! That part of Black Sabbath is terrifying for sure. Autopsy Of Jane Doe is another great one that has it all. The fact that it takes place during a terrible storm makes it even more unsettling. That's one where I always say the building is almost another character in the movie. So creepy. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
Poltergeist still scares me to this day, I saw it when I was 4 years old and had to act brave in front of my parents to not let them know it gave me nightmares. Even the chair stacking scene still gets to me.
Yep. I totally understand. So many people seem to have trauma with certain films because maybe we saw them at such a young age. I guess those images just stick with us right to our adult years. The Brood is another one I watched way too young and it still bothers me. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 🎃🎃
So glad you mentioned Host! I rewatched it recently after Dan Drambles did a video on it recently, and damn is it good! I think it’s so effective because the cast was playing loose with their lines and the effects are mostly practical. Believable characters with an economical runtime. Also saw Haunt for the first time recently and was very pleasantly surprised! Effective at tension and a satisfying ending. Cheers!
I think you nailed it. Thank you for that perfect summation of why Host scares the life out of me. I feel better, honestly. It was so well done and effective, especially when you consider the situation they were working it. Glad you enjoyed, Haunt. It's a great one for Halloween season. 🎃🎃
I, too, found the new 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie absolutely terrifying. When I originally saw in the theater with my sister and brother-in-law, it took me about 30 minutes to calm down after the movie ended. My heart was pounding and I was really on edge. I have tried re-watching it, but I have a very hard time doing so.
I believe it. That's one terrifying movie and I'm just grateful I didn't see it for the first time in a theater. I feel like that would have done me in. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 🎃🎃
Great to know! So freaked out by renting a house and not knowing if I'm being watched, etc. The Strangers never gets easier for me. 😂😂 Thanks so much for sharing. 🎃
Totally get that. I think everyone has their own experiences with each movie and genre. I can understand why Paranormal Activity got under your skin. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃
Great video today, very enjoyable! When I think of movies that scare me it’s usually The Strangers or It Follows. The idea of seeing something that others can’t see, or something you cant escape really gets to me.
Oh yes, It Follows is another great one. I just gave that a rewatch the beginning of the month and it just holds up every time. Very unique movie. I can definitely relate to The Strangers, it's just absolutely terrifying from the first knock on the door. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
My father and sister took me to see JAWS in 1975 when I was 6 y/o. The opening scene touches on three major fears: 1) fear of the night, 2) fear of drowning, and 3) fear of being eaten alive. All contribute to a feeling of being out-of-control.
You just nailed it. Couldn't have said it any better. My grandparents took me and there I was thinking I was having the time of my life. Until it was time to go swimming the next day. Nope. Not happening. 😂😂 Thanks so much gote watching the video. I really do appreciate it. 🎃
I went with friends to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre when it opened in 2003 (can't believe that's been 20 years!). It really is very well made but brutal and sometimes unpleasant. The original is my favorite horror movie, but I do really like the remake. Gruv had that Blu-ray on sale but it's currently sold out. I'll buy it if they get more in stock while they're having this sale. I streamed it a couple weeks ago on Max, which was the first time I'd seen it in years.
I was just thinking the same thing about it being 20 years old. I'm mmk officially feeling old. 😂😂 I love the original TCM and think it's such an important and influential film. It didn't scare me per se but it's absolutely a moody and atmospheric movie. The remake is just brutal and I wasn't ready for it at all. Hopefully you'll be able to grab a copy on Gruv very soon. Check Hamilton Book also because they have some great titles for really good prices. Thanks so much for watching and the great comment. 🎃🎃
Awesome T-shirt! With you being such a huge horror fan, I can’t even imagine how scary these movies would be for someone like me. Ha ha! I think Buried is one of Ryan Reynolds best performances. Such a great film! Not in a million years would I watch The Exorcist. Couldn’t do it. Love Jaws! Great video Stephanie!
And there goes the invitation I just mailed you for my Exorcist party. 😂😂😂 I'm assuming you're now not going to bring the Doritos. I love Buried and Ryan Reynolds absolutely carried that movie in a way that few actors could. But it absolutely hit every anxious nerve in me. I sweat every time I watch it. Thanks so much for checking out the video, Jon. See you at the exorcism. 🎃🎃🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video, Stephanie! The possible situations in your films are truly frightening. I really need to check out The Strangers and Buried. Some eerie Northeastern setting movies scare me like The Sentinel (1977) that I saw as tween. (The Brooklyn Brownstone with a gateway to hell). I bought the Blu-Ray, but I have not yet summoned the courage to watch it again as an adult. I vowed to watch it again this weekend. I grew up in CT with abundant ghost stories told. Ghost stories do scare me. My Mom took we three children to The Changeling (1980). We all still talk about it decades later. "My medal..." Poor Joseph. - Heather
Hi Heather and thanks so much for watching and sharing your experiences. The Strangers is truly terrifying, especially the first time. Buried is so well acted but horrific if you have the fear of enclosed spaces. I still sweat if I watch it. I really like The Sentinel but can absolutely understand your issue with it. I get those Northeast ghost stories (growing up and a lifer of NJ) and the father north you go, it seems the more ghost and witch stories there are. There's nothing better than New England horror in my book. Second would be anything from Australia. Thanks so much for watching and I really enjoyed reading your comment. 🎃🎃
When I heard your intro I immediately thought of Buried. That was the scariest film I have ever seen. I have the same fear as you. Luckily I enjoy being scared. Great movie.
We're the same. I love to be scared but it's rare that it happens. Buried gets me every single time. I think it's a common fear that can be executed in many situations. They just did such a great job with the movie and Ryan Reynolds sold it all around. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
Great picks for films that really scared you. And I couldn’t agree more about THE RENTAL: I think that’s a really underrated film. Recently, the movie FALL terrified me. For someone who is scared of heights, it gave me the worst anxiety. So well done!
So happy to hear I'm not alone in my fear triggered by, The Rental. I also agree with you that I really didn't think it was bad but people really didn't take to it. Underrated for sure. Fall definitely got to me as well. Absolutely scared to death of heights. I could do these kinds of videos all day. So many fears. 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. 🎃
Of the movies in the video I've only seen Jaws. I may watch The Exorcist one day if I build up the courage. I have older brothers who traumatized me back when the movie came out by pretending to be possessed. I still get freaked out if I hear Tubular Bells. Maybe I'll watch it some morning so I can recover a bit before it gets dark. Of the other films in the video I think buried would bother me quite a bit. I think I'm pretty much going to stick with lighter horror for a while. Another great video, though. You do a great job telling enough of the story of these movies to keep things interesting without giving too much away. I always enjoy hearing what you have to say even when I think I'll never be brave enough to watch the film you're describing. See you Saturday.
Hi Steve and thanks so much for watching this month. I know horror isn't really your favorite and I promise it will be business as usual very soon. Back to snacking and Pickle. 😂😂 I can absolutely understand how any trauma can carry through and make certain movies a hard pass for people. Tell your brothers that wasn't very nice to pretend to be possessed. 😮😮😮 I think there's plenty of lighter thriller/horror out there to keep people in the October mood without the added anxiety. I hope you've been having fun with wherever you're watching. See you soon and thanks for being here. 🎃🎃
I just watched Host a couple of nights ago and was impressed by it. The various jumps and scares were really well done. The Strangers definitely unsettled me the first time I saw it.
Host really gets to me way more than I feel like it should. I'm not one to really get freaked out by most things but something about it just gets under my skin. I was impressed by how well it was done considering what it was and how they did it. The Strangers gets me every time. 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
Oh yeah. Candyman is crazy scary if you see it at the wrong time in life. I'm that way with one called, The Brood. Freaked me out beyond belief because I think I was only in 8th grade when I watched it. I'm with you and anything with bugs and creepy crawlers still gets me every time. I have a thing with ants so people have tried to get me to watch Phase IV but I haven't gotten there just yet. 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
I'm with you, friend. It scares the life out of me but I love watching it. Crazy as that might sound. 😂😂 It's definitely very well done and real feeling. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃
Hi and welcome to the channel. I'm really happy you found us and decided to join our community of movie enthusiasts. I guess you already know I cover all genres but we're having some fun with horror for October. Lots more things coming in the future so if you're ever interested in anything in particular, feel free to drop it in the comments. Glad you've seen the lives as well. Dave and I are having so much fun with that. Thanks for watching the video and again, welcome. 🎃🎃
@@MovieChatter01 Horror is my favorite genre! And I get really excited when you talk about Asian horror movies. I dont comment much here but I do watch all your videos so far! I listen to you and Dave when I work and sometimes when Im in bed. Hehe
@@soymilkthat's awesome! I love meeting fellow horror fans. I could talk horror all the time but most people enjoy when I mix things up. I still do horror during the rest of the year but the focus changes to a wide variety of genes. 😊
Host doesnt get tge recognition it deserves. I believe im like you in that its very rare that i get freaked out by a horror movie but this one was so well done, extremely effective movie.!
I agree and they did such an amazing job with the situation they were working with. Highly effective movie that stays with you long after watching. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I really do appreciate it. 🎃
@MovieChatter01 Sometimes creative minds work better with limited resources, that's where their creativity can often shine! They always find a way of conveying what they want on the screen in the end! No problem, came across yourself and Cinema Dave on YT a while ago and love both of your channels and the live stream videos, the best movie videos to watch are the totally down the earth general conversation videos and them streams are excellent! 👏
@@Kev_Cosabsolutely agree with that. The less restrictions, the better for the creative folks. Thank you so much for the very kind words about the channels and Livestreams. Dave is such a great friend and a wonderful person. We're having so much fun with the Saturday lives. Thanks for being here. 🎃
It gets creepier: The medical technician prepping Regan in that scene was not an actor. He was later suspected (but never charged) of perpetrating real serial murders around New York City, and would serve as the inspiration for the director's notorious 1980 thriller Cruising.
I've been wanting to check out Strangerland & Buried. The Strangers I still need to watch in full. Home invasion flicks really gets to me. I get that fear of meeting unknown people. Audition I've been meaning to pickup. Jaws...not a fan of the ocean, which is why only go maybe once a year. Some good titles.
Hey friend. Strangeland was definitely ahead of it's time but it got the job done in 1998. The rating is so low but I think it holds up for a look at the early internet days. Buried is great but oh so tough to watch. Home Invasions freak me out and I'm really happy to be out of the dating years. 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching. I really do appreciate it. 🎃🎃
I just found your channel and subscribed. Your horror tastes are the same as mine 😍 Heres my list of movies that scare me: -The Collector and The Strangers...the reasons are the same as yours. -Jeepers Creepers scared the crap out of me the first time i saw it. The beginning being terrorized on the road, and then the part where Darry goes down the pipe 😱. The ending still gets me...something about Trish watching her brother being taken away, knowing theres nothing she can do, and then hearing Darry's screams of pain... ugh it just gets me. -The conjuring scares me for obvious reasons -The Descent. Im also extremeley claustrophobic, and cave exploring freaks me out. Plus the creatures. -The Exorcist for obvious reasons. -Jaws. I still go swimming and stuff, but i always think of Jaws when i do. Even if im alone in a pool i have an irrational fear that a shark is in there 😅 Im sure im missing some but these were the first ones to come to mind.
Hi and welcome. I'm so happy you found our community of movie enthusiasts and decided to subscribe. I love horror so October is always a favorite month for me especially with horror content. I agree with you re: Jeepers Creepers and Darry going down the pipe. I was yelling no, no, no at the screen. 😂😂 So many things trigger my fears but it's mostly things/situations that can happen. I never thought of a shark getting in a pool but now you've got me thinking. 😳😳😳😂😂 Thanks so much for watching, commenting and subbing. Looking forward to chatting movies with you. 🎃🎃
The only movies that scared me were "It's Alive" (1974) and "The Amityville Horror" (1979). I has under 10 years old and was traumatized by them for years. Seeing lumps under sheets and red lights in the dark freaked me out.
I bet that did. It really does seem like a common thread are movies we saw before we probably should have. I swear those childhood memories/traumas really do carry over. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your scary movies. 🎃🎃
Great selection Steph thanks for the share, buried is a good movie i always have to remember there's a post credit scene after the movie credits have rolled I wasn't sure if you knew that😊. Funny story here in the UK a couple of days ago, a person was declared dead and was taken to the hospital/mortuary only to wake up later that day, your worst nightmare 😂
Oh my god. Jason, that is my number one nightmare. I've told everyone to just have me cremated because I'd rather be cooked than to wake up buried alive. 😳😳😳 I don't think I've seen the post credit scene. Now I'm going to put it in today and look. Thanks for that info because I'm honestly not sure if I knew that or not. Thanks so much for watching and hope all is well with you. ❤️🎃
@@MovieChatter01 hopefully it's on all blu ray copies and not just mine. I'm not too bad thank you, I'm slowly recovering I'm still getting some chest pain (angina) and waiting to have another 2 stents fitted within the month and then I'm hoping I will feel like my old self again. Thank you for asking.
Steph…an….ie…. Omg - I watched Haunt… finally and I think I said helllllll no like 50 times. The panicky thought of not being able to get out of a place is what gives me the most anxiety. But what a fun movie! Great recommendation!
😂😂😂 I now have a visual of you saying that and I absolutely understand why. It's a freaky movie but oh so much fun. Thanks so much for watching and glad you had a good time with the movie. 🎃🎃
Nice list. I woke up to find my daughter watching Strangers this morning. I love horror, but few have really scared me -- at least as an adult. That kind of makes me sad a bit. haha. Nowadays I am more frightened by movies like Office Space and the documentary The Corporation. Still, let me give it the ole college try... 1) When A Stranger Calls (79) - While the bulk of the movie is dull... the opening scene is one of the greatest scenes in horror history. My mom was a babysitter back when the "real" story actually happened. Maybe that added a little something to it for me. 2) Let's Scare Jessica To Death (71) - I was home alone one night when my parents went over a neighbors' house for a get together. I found this movie on TV that night. Truly frightened me. I've since watched it as an adult... it definitely has moments of dread and creepiness but is kind of a slog. 3) Audition - I agree wholeheartedly on this one. Maybe it's because I was a guy and I was single at the time, but I found this movie pretty worrisome. That ending! And of course... THE BAG! 4) The Nanny (Bette Davis, 1965) - I called my grandmother Nani and my dad told me this movie was about her. Made me a little afraid to spend the night at my grandmother's house for a while (hahaha). 5) The Descent - Not sure how scared I was, but it was pretty tense and claustrophobic. Very well done and it had me on the edge of my seat.
Hi friend and a big, oh my to finding your daughter watching, The Strangers. I still think that is one that scares me the most. I really enjoyed reading your list and agree with everything you said. I recently watched The Nanny and found it incredibly creepy. Bette Davis is so good at being so creepy. The Decent was an exercise in trying to breathe while watching these women try to fit through spaces I'd never even attempt. 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching and sharing the great list of movies. 🎃🎃
Only three movies have actually "scared" me, in the sense I couldn't sleep afterwards. House on Haunted Hill (1959) Return of the Fly (1959) The Ring (U.S.,, 2002).
I can understand why, too. Those are some creepy films. I watched The Strangers again and it still bothers me. Home invasions have always freaked me out though. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
I can see that. It's very atmospheric and gritty. A lot of us probably watched that one way younger than we should have, too. I saw a movie called Silent Scream when I was in about 8th grade. I went to the movies with a group of friends and we were horrified. When I look back at it now, it's a good movie but not terribly scary for me. I just remember not being able to sleep for so long after seeing it that first time. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
Steph, I hate movies about serial killers and I must confess I havent seen them(but I've read the reviews) but a few from Australia featuring some of our "Nasties" are "Snowtown" , "Wolf Creek" and a semi-doco called "Catching Milat"
I have my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice of all things so serial killers were a huge part of my college curriculum. They're a tough study, I'll give you that for sure. I have seen Snowtown, Wolf Creek but not Catching Milat. I'll have to look that one up. Thanks so much for watching and the movie list. I really do appreciate it. 🎃🎃
One that really scared me was The Others with Nicole Kidman. Really creepy, and right after I watched it MY HOUSE HAD A POWER CUT! As SOON AS THE CREDITS STARTED ROLLING!
No!!!! I can't even imagine. I just re-watched that one the other night as the Criterion release showed up. A great and effective film full of atmosphere and tension. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 🎃
Hi friend. I just gave Gothica a rewatch about a week ago and definitely agree with your thoughts. Very creepy and atmospheric. Halle Berry was very good as well. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃
Hello, I'm new here. Congratulations on your channel, I love the format, and your room. To tell you more, I've always wanted to do something similar in Spanish since I'm from Puerto Rico and we don't have enough podcasts about movies, much less about horror. I still haven't been able to see all your videos since I discovered you today (10/26/23). But a movie that was really creepy for me and still, is I Saw The Devil from South Korea pretty disturbing and unsettling one. Blessings 🙏.
Hi and welcome to our community of movie enthusiasts. I'm so happy you found us. That would be great if you were able to start a channel about your collection/collecting. I cover all genres but horror is definitely my favorite. You could do a channel in Spanish and there's an option for subtitles if you wanted to add those in as well. I love I Saw The Devil and just highlighted it in my last video about Japanese and Korean Horror Films. Such a great revenge movie. Thanks so much for watching and joining us and best of luck to you if you decide to start a channel. Be sure to let me know if you do as I'd be happy to promote it here. Looking forward to talking movies with you. 🎃
@@MovieChatter01 I’m really flattered ❤️❤️❤️ I noticed you reply to almost all the comments, nonetheless it’s really amazing for me that you’ll support me if I decide to start making content. Wishing you the best -Jose- PS my writing in English is not the best since it is not my first language so I apologize if there is any spelling error. 😅
I get it. There was one called Silent Scream (still in my collection to this day) but I saw it in the theater way too young with a group of friends. Scared the life out of me for the longest time. I recently re-watched it and it really is a decent movie but definitely didn't scare me now. It's funny how so many of us saw things at younger ages and we'll always remember that fear. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 🎃🎃
When I was a kid I saw Hellraiser 3 and I thought it was terrifying! Yes I know a lot of people hated that one and thought it was cheesy but I liked it. I still cant watch that one or any of Hellraiser movies alone now.
I like Hellraiser. I think it's developed a good cult following these days and any time there's a release of some kind, it sells out really fast. I can definitely see why that would be super unsettling for so many people. Thanks so much for sharing that. 🎃
Host was really scary it worked so well it felt so real maybe because of the zoom element it preys on your basic fears the performances were so believable.
So scary. I've tried so many times to articulate why it freaks me out so much but I've never been able to clearly understand my reaction. It was a really well done film and especially for what they were working with. Thanks so much for the insight and for watching. 🎃🎃
Buried... It is the only film that I started and could not watch because it pushed all my buttons. I too am very claustrophobic. I used to leave the door open on phone booths because I could not close myself in one. None of the rest of the ones you showed bothered me.
I can absolutely understand. There are times when I need to crack a window in the car just because I'm freaked out about being enclosed. Buried freaked me out maybe more than anything else on the list. The Strangers gets me because I lived alone for so long and the thought of a home invasion just puts me right over the edge. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
I saw Puppet Master as a kid and the marionette puppets shocked me to my core. So bad that I couldn't stand Toy Story when it came out. I'm still unsettled by the Puppet Master movie at 38 years old. Three decades later.
I absolutely get that. Puppets, clowns, dolls, all freak me out to this day. Great call on the listing the Puppet Master movie to this list. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
These aren't necessarily my favorite horror movies but just the ones that scare me the most. I'll definitely be doing a list of my top Halloween films before the end of the month. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃
Great video. Think the host scared you do to waiting to see something happen and watching the corners of each screen for movement. What got my anxiety with the film. I said on absolutesublimes movies that scare you years ago. The strangers is my number 1. Horror films that can happen freak me out. Willard just can't and never finished since to afraid of rats Fall my anxiety was through the floor and was grabbing couch so tight since I'm terrified of highs. I sold it so fast after I watched it.
Hey Joe!! Oh wow, you're so right about Fall and especially if you have that fear of heights. I'm not surprised that it didn't make the shelf. Anything like The Strangers that can really happen seem to be the things that truly scare me. And then along comes Host and I'm absolutely freaking out. 😂 Thanks so much for watching and hope all is well with you. 🎃🎃
Omg there’s no way I can watch that movie Buried, it’s my worst fear. To this day I cannot watch the beginning of The Bone Collector again for the same reason lol. I watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake at the theaters because an ex-girlfriend of mine wanted to see it and geesh I got out of there in a daze. Excellent movie but I’ll never watch it again lol
😂😂😂 it's amazing what we'll do to keep a date happy, right?? Buried is absolutely terrifying and someone here just told me about someone who was thought to be dead only to wake up the next day in the morgue. 😳😳😳😳 I can't. I just can't. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
Hi there! Great list! I think Host probably scares you because of the technology connection. We are from a generation that can associate technology with fear on an unconscious level. Three movies that “bug” me The Fourth Kind, The Creep, & Alien. I do have to agree about Jaws…the opening scene is NIGHTMARE FUEL. 😂 🦈
Absolutely makes sense. I feel like such a wuss when I watch Host and I'm a complete mess after. 😂😂😂 It definitely creeps me out and I've never been able to articulate why. Have you seen Fire In The Sky? That's another one that freaks me out a bit. Allen will always be on my list of movies that scared me but I think it was mostly the shock of the first watch abc being way too young at the time. Yeah, Jaws has ruined swimming for me forever. 😂😂 Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
I loved Fire In The Sky. That last segment is terrifying. I appreciate your videos and plan on commenting more. I have my own channel too and I know how much it means. :)@@MovieChatter01
The only two that really scared me as an adult are 'One Winter Night' and 'There Are Monsters'... Another one that might freak you out based off your descriptions is 'Scary Movie' (1991) starring John Hawkes (not the 2000 comedy of the same name)
I have Scary Movie in my Vinegar Syndrome collection so I'm definitely pulling that one out to watch. I don't think I've seen the two that scared you but I'm definitely going to look into them. Thanks so much for watching and the recommendation. 🎃🎃
@@MovieChatter01 Oh cool, I hope you enjoy it; I have 30 second recommendation videos about both One Winter Night and There Are Monsters on my channel...
Yep. You're absolutely right and those seem to be the type of things that really get under my skin. Home invasions have always been something that scares me. Especially when I was living alone with no other protection than my killer miniature dachshunds. 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for watching. 🎃
Hey Movie Chatter/Stephanie! Yeah, things that can really happen to you like serial killers and home invaders can get under my skin way better than possession stories or supernatural stuff, although I think Poltergeist scared me as a kid. Yeah, Haunt was definitely scary and creepy to me too. The thought that someone sadistic could do that to you is pretty daunting. I don't know how to feel about the Exorcist. Yeah, the medical tests and the doctors analyzing Regan are pretty disturbing, Father Karras dealing with his mother is treated are disturbing too but I don't really know if the possession part does anything for me. It might have used to scare me but I just don't believe in angels or demons anymore so it really doesn't strike a chord with me now. The trailer for Jaws scared the living crap out of me when I was a toddler. I think these days I find the film to be a bit overrated. I think Schindler's List and Minority Report are better Spielberg movies. I think his earlier period doesn't match up to some of his films in his later films but the ones from Spielberg's earlier period are still immensely entertaining. They're just not profound deep films to me. I don't know though. Maybe Close Encounters, Raiders and Temple of Doom are axceptions to that rule though. The original TCM is pretty nerve wracking. Maybe even with multiple viewings, you can't totally shake off the dread when you watch that film. Is the new TCM you're talking about with R. Lee Ermey in it? I think a fair amount of people hate that film but I like it because it shows how Leatherface became Leatherface and the role of R. Lee Ermey's character but I would have liked more exposition on the childhood of Leatherface to flesh out his character a little more.
Oh, just wanted to follow up with movies that either still scare me or did initially which are The Shining which just makes me laugh now but not on first viewing, Alien and Aliens, Dawn and Day of the Dead, the original Romero versions, the original TCM, Halloween, Black Christmas, Brian DePalma's Sisters, Rosemary's Baby, Repulsion, Eraserhead, Psycho. There's this French film about this couple being attacked by kids in their home, I think it's called Them maybe? there's one with two brothers who sew their mother's eyelids shut, Funny Games, Salo, Come And See, Wicker Man, Woman In The Dunes, Kuroneko, Audition to name a few.
Ugh. I wrote out a nice long answer and accidently erased it. 🤣🤣 I'm with you about not being scared by monsters or possession stuff but anything that can really happen just gets under my skin. I'm a huge Spielberg fan and a super fan of Jaws. I know it's not his best movie and absolutely agree that Schindler's List is brilliant. I grew up on Jaws and it just holds a special place with me for many reasons. I think it's tough find fault with pretty much most things Spielberg does because he's so great at jumping genres and taking on new things. Yes, that's the Leatherface I'm talking about. I know so many people really didn't like it but I thought it was really pretty good. I always tell people to take my opinion on that one with a grain of salt though. 🤣🤣🤣 That franchise is all over the place with some hits and some misses. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. I really enjoyed reading your comment. 🎃🎃

Yes!! That part of Black Sabbath is terrifying for sure. Autopsy Of Jane Doe is another great one that has it all. The fact that it takes place during a terrible storm makes it even more unsettling. That's one where I always say the building is almost another character in the movie. So creepy.

Thank you so much for being here. 🙂👋👋
And I also loved the rental! For the same reasons I loved the strangers- it just feels so real!
Great to know! So freaked out by renting a house and not knowing if I'm being watched, etc. The Strangers never gets easier for me. 😂😂
Thanks so much for sharing. 🎃
I find most horror movies to be creepy, suspenseful, gorey, unintentionally comedic 🤡. The only movie to actually scare me is paranormal activity.
Thanks so much gote watching the video.
Thanks for posting and thank you for being thankful!
I'm absolutely thankful for every person here. So thank you so much for being part of this very special community we have here.
@@MovieChatter01 Thank you, Stephanie! 😃👍.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I can absolutely understand how any trauma can carry through and make certain movies a hard pass for people.
I watched Haunt for the first time last night. It scared the living daylights out of me.
Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
CANDYMAN 1992 scared the hell out of me when I was a kid and Arachnophobia still scared me to this day is more like a phobia lol 😂
Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
Love the strangers!!!! It scares me every time and I watched it 10 times at least! Also love how real it feels!

Stop! Are you kidding me? That's terrifying and insane. Now I'm going to see the entire thing through different eyes. 😳😳😳
Thanks so much for watching. I really do appreciate it. 🎃🎃
I just found your channel and subscribed. Your horror tastes are the same as mine 😍 Heres my list of movies that scare me:
-The Collector and The Strangers...the reasons are the same as yours.
-The conjuring scares me for obvious reasons
-The Descent. Im also extremeley claustrophobic, and cave exploring freaks me out. Plus the creatures.
-The Exorcist for obvious reasons.
-Jaws. I still go swimming and stuff, but i always think of Jaws when i do. Even if im alone in a pool i have an irrational fear that a shark is in there 😅
Im sure im missing some but these were the first ones to come to mind.
So many things trigger my fears but it's mostly things/situations that can happen. I never thought of a shark getting in a pool but now you've got me thinking. 😳😳😳😂😂
Thanks so much for watching, commenting and subbing. Looking forward to chatting movies with you. 🎃🎃
@@MovieChatter01 thank you so much!!
I don't think I've seen the post credit scene.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing the great list of movies. 🎃🎃
Only three movies have actually "scared" me, in the sense I couldn't sleep afterwards.
House on Haunted Hill (1959)
Return of the Fly (1959)
The Ring (U.S.,, 2002).
I can understand why, too. Those are some creepy films. I watched The Strangers again and it still bothers me. Home invasions have always freaked me out though.
Thanks so much for watching. 🎃🎃
The Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre traumatized me the most.
@@MovieChatter01 Yes, Steph, you struck me as being the analytical sort
One that really scared me was The Others with Nicole Kidman. Really creepy, and right after I watched it MY HOUSE HAD A POWER CUT! As SOON AS THE CREDITS STARTED ROLLING!
No!!!! I can't even imagine. I just re-watched that one the other night as the Criterion release showed up. A great and effective film full of atmosphere and tension.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 🎃
Somehow the song Captain Howdy from Twisted Sister is creepier than the movie was.
😂😂😂 agree!! Thanks for watching. 🎃
Hi Stephanie
The movie that gets under my skin is Gothika starring Halle Berry, I find that film creepy and unnerving.

Labyrinth and Dark Crystal scared me as a kid but not anymore.
A lot of excellent choices but Halloween is the ultimate horror film.
Willard just can't and never finished since to afraid of rats
Fall my anxiety was through the floor and was grabbing couch so tight since I'm terrified of highs.
Thanks so much for watching and hope all is well with you. 🎃🎃

Thank you! We're having a great time. 🎃

Oh anything involving with any form of Clown's cause They always give me the Major Creeps!😯
Oh my, absolutely. Clowns are no one's friend. Thanks so much for watching. 🎃
Hi there!
Thanks so much for watching.
The strangers is creepy because it can actually happen.
Yep. You're absolutely right and those seem to be the type of things that really get under my skin. Home invasions have always been something that scares me. Especially when I was living alone with no other protection than my killer miniature dachshunds. 😂😂😂
Thanks so much for watching.
