Thank you RJ! We're thrilled to have you along. This is of course one of our earliest efforts, and we honestly find some of those episodes cringe-worthy. 😄 We encourage you to check out some of our latest material, too.
Love this location. Whenever I pass through on I 80, I try to make sure I am driving along the salt flats so I can see the sunset over the mountains in Wendover.
2:40 The 5ft thick you quote was accurate back in the 1950's & the BLM will also quote that number to mask the loss of Bonneville for profit through slurry mining that has been going on for decades. The reason you shouldn't drive on it now when it's wet is because the crust is so thin you will break through & sink into the mud. Thickness in the center is now down to one inch & the length is now barely 5 miles.
Was going to check out your Bonneville video and immediately noted that it look familiar. Just noticed I watched it a month ago and left a comment! Small world - lol! Enjoy your week!
Yep, free roaming across the Salt Flats in your vehicle is legal as long as it's dry. You don't want to wander too far off the thickest patch of the salt, though, for falling through means an expensive tow job. Camping on the Flats, however, is prohibited so you have to camp nearby as we did in this video.
@@GrandAdventure If it's dry enough...( i've been out there before) and you can shoot off the main road far enough....could you build a fire...if you got far enough away from the main thoroughfare and other people coming thru?...( Digging a small pit, and cleaning up your mess, of course) Thanks for the info.
Stumbled across your channel and what a joy! No loud crappy music. No ego stroking. Truly my hats off to you gents.

Awesome shots. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching, Bonnie!

And as you saw in this video, Mike, those mountains make for some terrific boondocking if you want to pull over for a day or two.
Just amazing vistas! Thanks.
Thank you Kim!

Interesting, thanks for sharing your info! We did indeed obtain that figure from the BLM.

Americas Parks Too funny!
Nice site - literally right on the edge! Nice footage over the top of the mountains.
Is it still legal to just...'drive on out onto the flats, and 'free roam? or...better yet, Boondock Camp? ( Dry...of course)

@@drumdude46 I'm not sure what the ground fire regulations are. I doubt it but you could consult the BLM website.
Excellent drone footage of those craggy mountains. The music was great, too -- maybe William Ackerman??
How cool! When we were in the area, we skipped the salt flats. Your video makes we wish we hadn't!
Next trip through be sure to stop, if only for a few minutes -- it's truly other-worldly. Thanks for watching!
Don't tell a flat earther that you can see the curvature.
🤣
The drone footage made me subscribe. The location is stunning.
Thank you Naz! We're thrilled to have you along.
Excellent video! Was able to make a solo stop there one evening in 1995. So fascinated by this place.
Beautiful and scenic! Appreciate the shorter videos, easier on my Verizon :)
Thank you! Yeah, I know, I know...for you it's all about Verizon. ;))))
What do the salt flats taste like? That is, do they taste like table salt?
You oughtta know.
I rode my motorcycle across it in 2010, and then stopped in the middle of it and tasted a pinch of it. Just like table salt, but even more saltier.
