Can't beat a good Hex! I'm an upper level Advanced player and the Hex is a workhorse in my back. I would say it flies like a seasoned Buzzz when it's new.
The plastic really affects the flight i have an eclipse hex that flies like 5,5,0,1.5 and a fission hex that flies 5,5,-1.5,1.5

Eclipse Hex is stable enough to make the Reactor redundant for me. While Buzz does fly more OS than its numbers, the Eclipse Hex is definitely a replacement if adding just a tiny bit of hyzer into your throw is okay. The reward is a pushing, fadeless flight. My core two disc pairing right now is Hex in Eclipse and Fission.
These are fun videos as it's always interesting to get other's take on your disc selections. I'm using Mako3, Truth, Buzz, Roc3 and Reactor for mids so my bag fared pretty well in your evaluation.
Sleeping on the runway- it’s a faster zone. Love it for slightly longer approaches that I don’t feel good using the zone or if I want a little skip. Can take a lot of power/torque and won’t turn over as well
Is that from streamline? I love their stabilizer approach discs
I find the Kaxe Z to be versatile. I can push it further than any of my mids. But it's also is good for short skip shots, skipping more like an FD. I've hit basket with it several times on the same dogleg 200' hole which requires a big hyzer and flare skip.
I think of it as a slower FD
There is another comment on here and I agree. The Kaxe and Z are really more fairway. I’d put the Svea or Gote from Kasta in the mid category. My Kaxe flies like a 7-8 speed.
My K3 Kaxe is almost an overstable fairway driver (a slower beefy Teebird) My K1 Kaxe is like a slower FD. Gote is definitely a midrange disc and is like a Comet with more HSS, or a Mako3 but not quite as straight. Svea is definitely an under stable mid … like an RPM Piwakawaka - super glidey, easy to flip, and neutral finish. Don’t sleep on the Svea in K3 hard.
Runway is way OS.. and as an MVP thrower I would put it in the good category, but you should have had the pyro in this conversation instead, which should be in the great to swanky category. It goes dead straight forever then fades right at the end. It's similar to the e-mac Truth IMHO but more OS at the end of it's flight.
With Catrina Allen signing with DGA, I'd love to see you test out their lineup.

Kaxe Z is more of a hybrid fairway/mid and goes sooo far and soooo straight it pushes like 50-100 ft further than my buzzz.
The buzzz was my go to for years as the only midrange I threw constantly and consistently. Now with the hex that's my go to midrange for almost any shot, but I do still bag my buzzz for certain shots.

The hex is not a buzz replacement.. but I like the hex more then the buzz. I find that it holds most lines a bit better..
And maybe you won't like them as much.. but throwing different discs is always helpful to remind you why you like the discs you like.
I bag a Malta and I agree that it's very similar to a Zone, however, I don't like throwing the Zone backhand, so the Malta has become my overstable backhand approach disc, while the Zone is my overstable forehand approach disc. I also use the Malta if I want to make sure that I finish right (LHBH). On my local course there's 2 holes with OB all along the left side and if I throw a Buzzz LHBH, slight anhyzer will be OB for sure, while the Malta will always want to come back in. I definitely throw more shots with my Buzzz and Zone, but the Malta has a specific purpose in my bag, and i usually pull it out at least 3-4 times per round

Okay, so a new-ish Runway is a meat hook...basically a longer Entropy (kinda like a Mutant). And you are right, the Hex is a great compliment to the Reactor, but they really aren't that different until they finish unless you're pushing it past 300ft. 300-350+ you'll definitely notice the turn (or lack of) at that point. Also, the Kaxe Z and the Hex are almost identical in flight and feel. It's a tiny bit deeper and has a bit more glide. The K1 translucent plastic is the nicest plastic I've ever felt in a disc. Problem is...they're translucent. So I swap it and the Hex depending on the course and how much I feel like looking for it, I do prefer the Kaxe Z though and usually only bag it and the Runway for mids.
My hex is definitely a lot more flippy than my reactor. I bag both and the runway. But I think you’re right. It’s not super noticeable until you get past 300.
The malta hate is blasphemous
I have a Buzzz, Buzzz OS , and a Truth. I rarely throw my Truth because I like my Buzzz better. I throw it mostly on holes that I'm afraid loose my Buzzz.
Where’s the new Discmania MD1 from the Black Friday Mystery Box. I’m loving that disc and the only thing I’m not liking is that I have no way to get any backups for my bag so I get hesitant to throw it on shots I probably should be throwing it on. But MD3 and the new MD1 are amazing mids.
There's a war in my mid-range slots between discmania and MVP/Axiom. The MD1 is fantastic...like a Mako3 but without the touchiness ... and I agree...I'm worried it's going to get destroyed or lost before they start selling them individually
The best midrange is Latitude64 Compass :)

@@noahdensmore6016 I like it in Opto. My first ever midrange was a Ricky Wysocki signature Compass and five years later the same disc is my go to.

good job guys - The Hex is always in my bag and a zline Buzzz is right next to it - only 2 mids I throw.
I tried hard to find a use for a Mako3. Had a champ and a star. They flew straight when I wanted them to turn. They turned when I wanted them to go straight.
I bag two Meteors because they are infinitely better than the Mako3. The Van Dyken Meteor holds up in wind, it is very stable, flies like a Buzzz but farther. Standard Z and ESP Meteors both handle turnover shots between 320-350' for me with ease. Laser straight when hyzer flipped. Give it another shot but not in Jawbreaker. I have a Jawbreaker Zone that is less stable than any of my Meteors.
BuzzzOS is the disc that went into my bag as an "I'd throw it over water" disc and is now an indispensable disc that gets thrown several times a round, especially on windy days. It magically makes shots for me that people want to know what I threw as soon as they see it fly.
Surprised that the Verdict didnt make this video. Its great to S-tier in my mind, does everything that the Malta was supposed to do. It feels and flies fantastic.
KaxeZ is my 'single disc round' disc. Not the best at anything, but good at everything.
Great video, but sad to see no DGA mids on the list, I guess not enough people throw them😅. I think that they're really underrated though, I bag the rift, quake, and aftershock and love all 3. Was curious to hear your all's thoughts on the molds

You're missing the Gateway Element, Gateway Prophecy, AGL Magnolia, and AGL Spruce. All are wonderful.
I’ve thrown Mako3, MD1, MD3, Buzzz, Pathfinder, and the Hex is the best midrange out there. The Eclipse plastic has a perfect stability. Unmatched feel in the hand. On full power, it rides arrow straight with a nice little fade. I’ll never bag anything else.
I love the mako3 it was my first midrange and haven't found a disc I like more for that slot one you didn't mention that I use all the time is the discmania method i love the beeded midrange feel
Pathfinder is one of my favorite discs! I think the emac and roc3 should be top tier, and the mako3 is mid great.
I actually really enjoy the Westside harp putter, I also have the thought space putter which is liken to the harp. I find I'm enjoying them the more I throw.
My personal tier list:
Swank: buzzz, harp, emac truth
Great: meteor, md3, reactor, fuse, hex
Good: atlas, pathfinder, roc3, m3
Water: m1, malta, m2
Dog: origin, mako3, runway, maestro
Never threw the kaxe. My favorite mids are the innova lion and lat64 truth but they werent on this list
So stoked to see the hex where it belongs in the swanky teir.
I have a pink MD3. It is NOT flippy. It’s dead straight with a baby fade when thrown flat but will not flip up when thrown on hyzer, even in the Oklahoma headwinds. It’s not over stable either though
No element? ...the diamond version is the closest flying disc to a buzzz that I've thrown

I bag 3 Reactors, they replaced my Buzzz’s and my Hez. Sooooo good. The best mid in my opinion.
I actually bag a genius. Maybe it’s just the one I got but for me who only throws a backhand and has tons of Conrad vibes…it turns over and rides for me and the one I have actually feels good. I can’t say that for other ones. I was lucky and it was in the mystery box or I wouldn’t have ever gotten it.
I have a Roc in Star plastic that is much flatter than a DX Roc. It flies really great for me.
Love your videos. Keep 'em coming. As for mid-ranges, I bought a Buzzz and a Mako3 on recommendations from friends. I tried, really tried to like them, couldn't. They are both in a box in my office. The Roc3 and the Truth (not emac truth) are my go to mids.
Get a axiom PYRO you won't regret it

@@tuckerwoodson4134 I use it like a zone. And throw it in alot. It's very consistent high speed and low speed. It's kinda like a firebird with some glide. I use a pig too but the pig will hold Annie angle and won't skip

I got the active line for my mom since she wanted to get into disc golf. She loves them im not a huge fan but will say her set is much more durable than dx plastic but seems quite rubbery. Her friend got the same set and the plastic isnt rubbery at all and seems pretty much like dx so its really a crap shoot but great for a first set.
I picked up a fuse mainly for the stamp and to dye and hang on my wall 😂

The meteor is an incredible disc for lower arm speed throwers. Or super satisfying, long turnover shots.
My esp meteor goes dead straight 275ft no turn no fade. Only discraft disc I use. Pairs perfectly with my PYRO and pig that's the only mids I bag
I have had several buzzz. I want to like them. Haven’t liked a single one and they have all been removed from my bag
Tried the Hex hype in all plastics. Buzzz SS just feels better to me. Good disc though. Love the Harp and Zone
With a Harp and a Buzzz only I feel you could shoot par on 90% of courses out there.
The Roc3 is actually a little less overstable than the Rancho Roc IN THE SAME PLASTIC. Y'all are I think comparing like champion Roc3s to DX Rocs
The gator3 is my go to over stable mid. The mako is dead straight and I dont use flippy mids.
Video Idea: buy similar discs from a range of companies in their baseline plastics, use it for 4-6 months, and see which one holds up the best. I've heard that the Discmania active basline plastics are bad (and that Yikun in general has weird plastics), but I've never seen any hard evidence that it lasts for less time than DX or Pro-D.
Could I ask the swanky team for help?? If I’m gonna buy a buzz for a neutral flying mid, intermediate arm speed: what buzz should i try? Plastic and make. Thanks y’all.
In my experience if you want a truly neutral flying mid at an intermediate level I would go with a Z plastic Buzzz SS they are much more straight flying. The Z buzzz is great too but can lean towards the side of slightly overstable

I found a ESP Archer. I use it for turnover approach. Hyserflip tunnel. I love it. Underrated.
The Roc3 is not overstable imo. The Roc3 should be more like a 4-3-0-1.5. I have a lot of Roc3s in different kinds of plastics and they all fly the same. If you throw a Roc X3 for about 2 months it will fly just like any other regular Roc3. Because of how they beat in I would say they are top end of the good tier.
Literally all of my mids are in the Great rating for you guys. I throw the roc3, emac truth, eclipse 2.0 reactor, and the fuse. They cover everything I have ever needed so far. I have contemplated getting a hex however just because I love the reactor so much and the envy has become a serious staple in my bag
You bag all of those and throw all of them? I don’t think I have the skill to utilize so many discs that are similar
I love the Innova kite .. it flies and feels like a driver but lands nice and soft like any putter.
The Hex is a hyzer flip monster for one disc rounds and putts surprisingly well. I don’t bag it, but the distance for a mid is insane if you can’t take all your discs. Also would love to see the new MD1 and Pyro on the list, instant Swanky category.

Interestingly, a few years ago at my home course, people started bagging what was called a "water kaxe", to have something semi-disposable to throw approaches with on a hole that had a pond just mere feet from the pin. So, if you ask ppl around here, its categorization would have been obvious. ^^

Alfa Apollo is getting a lot of love from people. It may challenge some of these old school discs soon. Maybe a good disc to consider for a disc review.
I’ve had my original fugitive in the bag ever since it came out in trilogy challenge. Not sure why it didn’t go over very well.
I noticed that you're rating very highly discs that have medium glide. Why is this? It's not hard to find equivalents with a glide of 5, 6, or even 7, getting you more distance. I'm a beginner, and would really like to know. thanks

Lattitude Core is a new favorite mid and go to for me but after that its Buzzz and Mako3 for me.
Its OOP now i think although you can still get it in the glory box for now but i believe the CORE is the best midrange ive ever thrown in the gold line plastic and chameleon plastics once its beat in works as a smooth turnover mid goes a long ways.
best thing of Meteor is that it does handle sidearm real good for understable disc.
If the Maestro a 4/3/0/2 can be on this list then the zone a 4/3/0/3 should have been too and it’s swanky as hell

Doing the runway dirty. Great overstable mid.
Been throwing a Malta for about 3 weeks. It is as long as my Glow Reactor off the tee and as reliable as my Roc for 40-50 yard throw-ins. I picked it up out of the used bin and I have been surprised by how well I throw it. The +1 turn is totally wrong. Personally, I'd rate it 5.5/5/0/1.5 (so pretty much a reactor)
To me the Hex replaced my buzz, my Hex is Skullboy max weight and is actually pretty stable. It is also thinner and just sits in my hand and comes out better than the buzz. I threw them a ton side by side and the Hex just pushed straighter a bit further and finish with a softer fade, so it was just more accurate and comfy than my big Z buzz. The thinner profile allows me to use it on forehands as well, though I usually use a reactor or matrix for those shots for the extra stability. Buzz never quite felt comfy forehand.
Also the active line is trash for sure EXCEPT the Astronaut in premium. For whatever reason that disc is so money, it's super flippy but somehow glidey and reliable comeback at the end. It is a hyzerflip machine at altitude in Denver. If you don't believe me check the lone disc video on my channel, 400ft easy tunnel shot.
Compass. Its swanky for sure. In Opto and Gold plastic. Or Retro if you want a more understable version. For me, its better than the Buzz. I tried so hard to like the buzz becuase it is objectively a good disc. Tried Xline, Zline and ESP, none of em did it for me 🤷♂️ maybe im just crazy 😂

Everybody's sleeping on the Gateway midranges! Prophecy and Element are one of the best stable and understable combinations on the market! Get them both in Diamond and you've got midranges for life

I don't thin the Emac Truth and Buzz have a similar hand feel at all. And the Emac is a little more stable
They don't I hate the buzz and love the truth. I grip lock the buzz almost every throw it i left it in the woods
