The discard for cost/activation happens first and then if it resolves you can choose from any eligible card in your graveyard including the card you just discarded.
Telegraphing that this is their last chance to nib, waiting for them to say no, then continuing to play now that you can reasonably assume they don't have it, is the kind of thing that elevates a decent player to a great player. Thanks for the helpful tutorial! I'll be trying these out at some point soon 🙏
That doesn’t always play out the way you want. Ss plays ttt, and if you see them going chao route, you just hold nib because it won’t accomplish anything and you play into thrust/talent. You just punish them for doing this line
The other issue with that in this deck, especially now that Swordsoul isn’t as common, is that your opponent just might not understand that it MIGHT be their last chance to Nib. If you have Baxia + Adhara on board, but the opponent has no idea what Chaofeng even is, they aren’t going to consider it, they’re going to wonder what LV9 synchro or link 2 you’re making while wyrm locked lol. So if you play into it, you can still get punished pretty hard
@15:00 combo doesn't work, "You can target 1 "Swordsoul" monster, or Wyrm monster, you control; increase or decrease its Level by 1 until the end of this turn.". Chixiao is back to level 8 when you return to your own turn. you'd have to hope the chixiao survived and banish the emergence on your own turn. Yes I know this video is 8 months old but these combos are still relevant to swordsoul so people might make this mistake.
In the first combo - isnt it smarter having draw effects as chain link 3 and 2 so you can add to your hand something you didnt draw? The way you have it, you could add Longyuan with search effect and then draw it again later in the chain🤔
This video is sooo helpful. I appreciate you showing us how to play through relevant interruptions. I just bought this deck a week ago and would like to eventually become a competitive player.
Baxia's effect is not hard once per turn, so you can use it again if you summon another Baxia. It would be hard once per turn if it described the name of the card. Like Ash Blossom text for example: "You can only use this effect of "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" once per turn.".
So many people commenting "mistake here, mistake there, o.p.t. eff and you used it twice etc", while this dude here is a pro swordsoul player, he knows what he is doing and everything he did was on point and correct! People should be more careful, to read patiently the cards and fully understand what they do! Congrats on a great video WUNAX!
In the first combo, when ordering the chain that triggers off of Chixiao's summon, wouldn't it be preferable to keep it as CL1 still? I get the reasoning of wanting to dig for non-engine cards, but is that really the play when drawing into Long Yuan or Blackout lets you search the other, with Blackout likely being a better card than most of everything non-engine you could draw, considering you're about to make Chengying?
Unknown interruptions go a long way. I think in the current format, you want to maximize drawing ash for branded or nibiru for Kash etc. You could set up blackout Chixiao Chengying Sinister and your opp would know just about all the cards you have and then all your interruptions get turned off by one eclipse
@@Chackothewacko I agree that it depends on the matchup quite a bit. Branded is a good example of Blackout not doing as much as other options. That said, against most matchups or blind I think it's safe to say that it'd do more than any hand trap will. That being said, it's not even a question of choosing X option that I was raising, but a question of improving the odds of your draws being live. If the draw effects are resolved first, drawing into Long Yuan or Emergence (if the starting hand had Taia instead of the latter) is a live draw, since you can then resolve the Chixiao search for another live card in Blackout. However, if you went to resolve the search first, then drawing into any of those three/six cards is redundant. I think those odds are far more likely to be relevant than putting Chixiao's thinning as CL3 would be.
1st combo there is a mistake, when you upgrade Baxia lvl, you special summon taia’s Token which you have to use if you synchro. So you have to make your synchro 8 first
@@xxl3noxswordsoul monsters all say you can not summon from the extra except synchros while the token is on the field, not that you have to use that token when you synchro summon.
It does not protect from Nib, if Baxia summons Adhara then summons Chaofeng, opponent cannot activate Nib. Meaning, if the opponent wants to Nib, they would have to do it at Baxia + Adhara. But you can still play even if you get Nib'd then, it's a Nib check to see if you can full combo or not. It is possible the opponent may hold on to Nib, in which case going full combo will lose you the game unless you go into Chaofeng right after.
@@pl2578 I know, I'm going off what he said and when he said it, the protection would be either too late or hope for an opponent to not know when to nib
