Because of this and another channel I have ordered some sashiko needles, thread, leather palm thimble, and some fabric marking pens. I'll try with fabrics I already have from my remnants collection or salvaged from old clothes.
I am intrigued by the spontaneous stitching styles. What a beautiful mat, great idea! Great accomplishment! Your explanations helped me understand these types of stitches better. Thank you!
ありがとうございました! I have wanted to make a sampler for quite some time now (western embroidery and/or sashiko) and this is the perfect visual tutorial for me!
Oh, my, goodness what a gorgeous piece of art! I looooooove this and now want to make this also. Just beautiful my friend❣ You are always in my mind when I do my Sashiko (almost every day).
This is so beautiful. I just received my first kit. Maybe, just maybe, one day in the future I will be able to make something like this. I need to take a break from crocheting and quilt making. I find sashiko to be intriguing and lovely.
This inspired me to add to a pillow project for a newborn. I am going to try to stitch his name in different designs on the back of the pillow. Yours is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent. Thank you for the inspiration.❤
What a lovely idea, and the finished results are beautiful! The tiny stitches are so even, it’s cool to watch. Will you do a similar video with different colour ways in future?
@@thegreenwrapper I think it would be very interesting! Maybe also try some of the tradition patterns but smaller, like the hitomezushi (I hope I spelled that correctly!) pattern you did here.
@creepycutiecrafty6637 Sashiko with multiple patterns are often called Yosemoyo. They are common but I haven’t done them on video as they take very long time to complete😅 It’s a great idea to make a small Yosemoyo👍
To start a pattern of sashiko, do you always draw a grid on your fabric. I found it very tedious and couldn't get it even - even though I measured and used a ruler. Any hints or suggestions? I love your tutorials - you are truly very talented!
If it’s Hitomezashi, it’s common to draw a grid but you don’t have to. You can stitch free hand as well. It can require more skills though. I normally stick a piece of fabric with a masking tape on a large cutting mat, and draw lines following the lines on the mat. From 00:50 in this video, I’m drawing a grid on a cutting mat⬇️ ua-cam.com/video/ACpplCXF8SI/v-deo.htmlsi=fvbHJMpscdTlVIDQ If it’s hard to draw small squares, you can draw a little larger squares such as 1cm or 1/2 in. It will be slightly harder to stitch accurately but many people do that too. For Moyozashi, you can trace a pattern. For Yokozashi, you only need your draw some vertical lines. Kogin is count stitch Sashiko, so you don’t need to draw anything in your fabric. It depends on the type of Sashiko you’d choose. For larger projects, I prefer not to draw a grid of small squares either😊
Thank you! I’m also interested how people use samplers these days😊 I use them literally as stitch samples. Especially this type of sampler with experimental stitches helps when I stitch on clothes as I can’t experiment on them beforehand. Also, many people make samplers to showcase their skills or to hand down some techniques. Sashiko Hanahukin (tea towel) was also used as a sampler to hand down the technique from mothers to daughters.
