- Happy #ClassicCountryCovers Monday, fam! In observance of #MemorialDay I thought I’d do a song that has aways resonated with me. Written by Bruce Robison, made famous by the Dixie Chicks, this song tells the story of an 18 year old soldier that lost his life in Vietnam and the impact it had on the girl waiting for him here at home. We remember the fallen today as this story has been lived out hundreds of thousands of different ways. Thank God for the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that you and I can live this blessed life we lead in this great nation. We are the land of the free BECAUSE of the brave. Very great singing
I agree we should appreciate those who serve our country however I haven't seen a song written for those who stay behind keeping their families and homes together while their spouse is over seas serving ! Then when the vet returns from war theres a huge transition for that soldier to regain their civilian life and their family had to deal with that long stressful transition with them ! We know many vets end up divorced after their return home but what about the spouses that stay with them and help.them through for the rest of their lives! Those spouses need recognition and respect also!!
