Most of the reason Disney can’t replicate the success they had is because they lack the star power. No star they’ve had in the last 7-9 years has come close to Miley, selena, or Demi.
Zendaya is the best they’ve had in my opinion at least In sheer star power

I agree with this but Zendaya gained her star power years after her Disney Channel days. Almost all generations relate Zendaya to The Greatest Showman, Spider-Man and Euphoria, not Shake It Up. So many people have never even heard of Shake It Up which is insane! Miley, Demi and Selena gained their peak of popularity in their Disney Channel days with all 3 dipping in and out of popularity since then.

I believe you're overblowing the impact of the "drama" a little bit. I watched these shows when I was younger, and knew many people that did as well, and nobody cared or even knew about that, we mostly just watched because those were entertaining shows. The fact that Disney can no longer replicate their previous success probably has more to do with the rise of streaming and the internet. I'm not saying no one cared about the drama, it's just that this probably limited to a fraction of the total viewership and probably came from people who were already fans anyway. People usually don't care for drama about people they don't know.

    • @cc1526

Definitely! It wasn’t the “drama.” Zendaya and Bella apparently had beef too but no one cared. Lol I didn’t even start learning about the drama until my teen years when I was getting a bit old to be the target market anymore. It definitely had more to do with the popularity of cable tv dying and the rise of social media.

  • @RyanCalebSmith

I am an early 2000s kid and I watched Disney Channel by show premieres from 2000-2008. So, to me Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, That’s So Raven, Phil of the Future, The Suite Life, and Hannah Montana is what makes Disney Channel so popular. So, I can say the same for Kim Possible, Lilo&Stitch, and Phineas&Ferb.
Next, The first 2 installments of Circle of Stars are billions of times better than Sent It On as Circle of Life and Make A Wish consist of stars who have a blast doing those music videos unlike Sent It On consists of musicians who have an issue with each other.

    • @nanaasmah938
      @nanaasmah938 Рік тому +15

I agree but I’d say their success counts more for them individually then for the Disney Channel formula.
Sabrina acquired most of her success after leaving Hollywood Records. Olivia Rodrigo notoriously gained success after the release of Driver’s License. Which was so popular that she ended up leaving the Disney+ series she was part of. Zendaya focused more on acting and found great success there, but Disney Channel was very focused on making superstars with charting albums so her management team had to push for her acting success. And I’d say Dove Cameron is the closest Disney got to replicating the success of the previous era. Her role in Descendants sky-rocketed her popularity. But her individual music didn’t really gain as much success in charts until she released Boyfriend, which was after she left Disney.
All this to say that Miley, Demi, and Selena’s successes directly funneled money into Disney Channel while Sabrina, Zendaya, Dove, and Olivia used Disney more as a stepping stone for success they would have later.

The golden age was definitely high school musical/Hannah Montana/Joe bros/cheetah girls/Raven etc. Anyone who says otherwise isn’t being objective.
But I think a big reason why they were so big is because we were the last generation to grow up without social media (or at least it being what it is today). Facebook was for sharing weird pictures with your tongue hanging out - not like what Instagram is today with magazine worthy editing and sponsorships. UA-cam was goofy people like Jenna marbles, not millionaires like Mr beast. Being “internet famous” was a dream, not a reality. That’s why iCarly was so interesting. Today, Carly would just be one of the other million kids doing the exact same thing. Nothing special worthy of being one of the biggest shows. Kids today barely even watch cable. In our day, cable was all you had. That and webkinz and club penguin. We didn’t share TikToks - we discussed last nights juicy episode where Jake kissed Miley for the first time. Disney will never be able to compete with their old shows solely because of the time period they were released in. I think that’s why our old stars are still so popular today too. That deep seeded nostalgia is ingrained cause it was such a big part of our lives without social media to rot our brains. That’s what us kids bonded over. Disney and those stars are cashing in on that nostalgia bond and I’m here for it.

i will always blame nicelodeon who created the music formula for childstars and milking them for money.
    taina was the first.
it wassent until 2000s when drake and josh premiered than icarly where they did the fomula again the popstar factory to compete with disney channel.
nick did it first and disney perfected it.

Please find YHWH Elohim and keep the commandments in Exodus 20 and Leviticus 11.
Please read Exodus 20 and pray for forgiveness
    2nd Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:37- 40
Please read the book of Jonah, Matthew, Exodus you'll have the information you need.

Hollywood Records did Bridgit Mendler and Zendaya so dirty. They were the two stars who could have been the next leading ladies in the music industry, but HR decided to continue prioritizing Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato (which made no sense considering their contracts were almost up anyways). If they wanted more longevity rather than just short-term success milking out Selena as much as they could, they should have focused on Bridgit and Zendaya. Other artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson lacked support as well.

Indian Disney now is pitiful. We randomly have shows like Doremon and Kiteretsu, which are pretty bad shows but also don't resonate with the Disney milieu
