During the winter in the US the sun is furthest away, it gets dark sooner so why wouldn't you think that Antarctica wouldn't be in summer and have daylight all day, the Sun is closer duh. But it's still not close enough to be hot because it's a little higher. If it were about the tilt of the Earth and the position of a sun 93 million miles away the summer in Antarctica would be as hot as anywhere else but it's not.
@fpvangel4495 That's moronic, aircraft use altimeters to measure air pressure and that's how they know and maintain their altitude. On a spherical earth they simply fly level with the ground since the air pressure is consistent at every altitude. It's hilarious how you guys can't think in 3d.

Does anyone know the cause of the flickering of the sun at 0:25 - 0:29 and 0:50 - 0:56, and an apparent line at the latter period? The two orientations appear to situate at 180 degree of each other. I suspect it was some liquid smear on the lens. Is it and why?
Hello, beautiful great time lapse! Do you authorize me to use this video in a debate with people that defends flat earth on the terra tretismo channel?
It's probably easier to check the period where this exact location experiences polar day. Because the important thing is that it experiences polar day at all.
@@pretentiousjackal Correct. 'arktos' is ancient greek for bear, meaning not polar bear but the constellation which appears in the north. The 'ant' part is for 'anti', meaning opposite. The ancient Greeks knew that antarctic existed. "Of these fixed poles the one is always visible, being at the summit of the axis in the northern region of the sky, and is called the Arctic [ἀρκτικὸς] ; the other is always hidden beneath the earth to the south and is called the Antarctic [ἀνταρκτικὸς]. "
@@pretentiousjackal I think there's some speculation as to whether it's named for the constellation or that there are bears living there. Antarctica was theorized long before it was discovered as it made logical sense that there would be a southern equivalent that was opposite or "anti" the Arctic. The fact that there are no bears there may just be a coincidence but it's a good way to remember that if you're in Antarctica your safe from bear attacks.
This is the best proof that the Earth is spherical. 🌍🌎🌏. In a flat-earth model, when looking from Antarctica... you'll see the sun moving closer and farther in one area of the sky during winter.

@@Flat_Lloyd_Wright If 24 hour sunlight is witnessed at the south pole (which it has been since people ventured there over 200 years ago mind you), the flat earth model is completely debunked. On that model Antarctica is a ring around everything, on which if true obviously the sun cannot be visible 100% of the time over a 24 hour period. Flight paths alone completely debunk any flat earth model as it is. But as soon as reality and undeniable proof kicks in, FEers go into denial mode. @@Flat_Lloyd_Wright it doesn't make it curved. Because it's already curved. It just completely shits on your model and falsifies it without a shadow of a doubt. The sun appears to travel in opposite directions depending on which side of the earth you're on. In the northern hemisphere, the sun moves from left to right (clockwise) and reaches it's highest point south of your position. In the southern hemisphere, the sun travels from right to left (anticlockwise) and reaches it's highest point to the north of your position. So, if the sun is moving to the right, it's the Arctic, and if to the left, it's Antarctic.
24 hour sunlight occurs in summer inside the polar circles, both arctic and antarctic. E.g. you can see it in Jokkmokk (66.5N) or Abisko (68N) at the right time of year. It just so happens Antarctica nearly fills the antarctic circle, so you have to go there to watch the anticlockwise 24 hour sun. The habitable southern landmasses just don't go that far (e.g. Puerto Williams at 55S). An example UA-cam video showing midnight sun in the north is Tom Scott's "The Sundial That Works 24 Hours A Day", recorded in Svalbard. It's not very exciting, as he had terrible luck with the weather and didn't record a long duration. "24 hour sun time lapse" is a decent search phrase for finding more videos like this one.
Well it's just a pole in the ground. A complete sundial would have some way to count the hours with markings or rocks or something on the ground. However, there is just dirt and rocks. By your logic, the camera stand is a sundial, the fence posts, and even the flag pole. All are just one piece of the "sundial"
Set video speed to 0.25. Look at the back of the wooden sign on the right of the wooden sculpture between 0:32 and 0:33. There's a shining light traveling across the board, except the light doesn't illuminate the areas where the vertical poles are attached to the sign. Clearly CGI trickery. It reminds of that famous quote: "It's photoshopped, but it has to be"
Sorry, but my computer skills are not that good. Maybe you should just crawl out of the rabbilt hole and just book a cruise with Heritage Expeditions and come to the same spot and see it for yourself.
Just took a look, and the technical term you are looking for is called a reflection. The sun is reflecting off the windows of the building in the background... in a square shape that is... the size of the window... so it illuminates and area the size of the window, not everything in sight. You can even see the reflections hitting the camera lens from the building wall around the windows.
@@antzkiwi Let's call it a reflection then, but why are you not addressing what I'm pointing out? The places, where the vertical poles are attached to the sign on the right of the wooden sculpture, do not get illuminted by "the reflection" travelling across the horizontal board/sign.
Look at "the final experiment", flat earther and globe earther are going to antartica to film it together to see if 24h Sun does exist to end the debate. It will show if this is real or not.

Are you for real? No FE model accounts for a 24h Sun, because there is no accurate map let alone a model of the FE. In the most common ones that represent the earth as a flat disk (which are of course terribly inaccurate), the circling Sun would need to a) light the entire Antarctica (which is a ring around the entire surface) b) light half of the Earth's area and c) leave the rest of the Earth in darkness. I think flat earthers need to go to Antarctica with analog video camera's and the abillity to live stream. This way we can once and for all end this discussion which has been going on for way too long already.

It's probably easier to check the period where this exact location experiences polar day. Because the important thing is that it experiences polar day at all.
It’s called Antarctica because the sun makes an anti arc south of the equator and an arc north
So how does explain the 24 hour sun there?
I heard that the word Arctic had to do with the bear constellations and polar bears living there.

Or ask one of the thousands of tourists that visit every year. Better yet, book a cruise and visit this spot yourself.
Position aside .. you acknowledge this video clearly shows the sun is visible for the complete 24 hour period ..
Because the sun is going right to left. In the northern hemisphere it goes left to right.
well shoot...
This looks like it’s only right over antártica. What about the rest of the world?
24hr sunlight with souther clouds boriaulids?
Oh wow so is this artwork acting like a sundial?
Well it's just a pole in the ground. A complete sundial would have some way to count the hours with markings or rocks or something on the ground. However, there is just dirt and rocks.
@@Everything_is_alright because the reflection is a square the size of the window, that does not align with the whole sign, basic trigonometry.

No FE model accounts for a 24h Sun, because there is no accurate map let alone a model of the FE.
