- Modified Mitsubishi Pajero NJ Modified Episode 26. Finally we have a Pajero on modified (aka Mitsubishi Shogun)! This one being a Mitsubishi Pajero NJ built on a budget by two backpackers from Germany Felix and Bennett.
There are so many quick fix/bush fix ideas all over this Pajero and its a great vehicle to point out the fact that you don't need to spend big dollars on a 4WD to get you out there.

I started watching this, having a bit of a laugh.
But by the end, these lads have impressed me, they have learned what they needed to know and they are out there having the same experience as people whom spend $120K on Landcruiser Sahara for $8000. And learnt a ship load during the process. Good on them!
Hugh Jazz thanks a lot mate!
Bennet Janz hahaha alter Verwalter, you guys did an awesome job, I've just come back from the Mojave desert(death valley), with a budget build Ford Explorer 4x4 (bed mod only) $1500 and have been inspired to conquer anything between me and the beauty of the natural world, I am a Carpenter and was considering Australia seriously, but I think it's a done deal, I'll be hopefully heading to Australia this year, buying a rig and emulating you! Top notch! Thanks for the post Ronny, can't stop poaching ideas from this channel, so many cool builds, you Germans keep up the stellar work, and Ronny same to you and keep the quality coming!
I couldn't agree more. Very funny yet enlightening.
Why are you having a laugh??? What was so funny?
"custom fitted with a sock" lol. so good to see guys keeping it real. you dont need a 100k land cruiser to get out there. I bet these guys go further than most...
Just been to The Cape and back 😎
Felix Hackenberg I've just watched this and I'm in the same boat, got a 4x4 and want to kit it out ready to tackle the trails, how and where did you learn to do all of this? Are you on Facebook?
This is the way to do it, it's virtually a disposable 4wd!
But do they get home lol
@@carlmenzel8744 their home is in the swag😂😎
These guys knew their stuff. Definitely not the typical back packers I see around. Gr8 vid.
Must be THE BEST modified you've done so far. Really enjoyed what those guys have done and how they have done it. They were also entertaining and seemed like top blokes. I wish you both all the best for the rest of your time in Aussie. Thumbs up.
finally a Pajero! Love the budget look. Shows you can still go out without needing to spend thousands of dollars.
Indeed
Ha, it's not just a budget "look". It is budget :D
The car still goes. I'm driving it around the country at the moment :)
Love... they should post some actual footage of the vehicle... will be so great...
Really
@@wafimokhtar1 yes but i sold it in June 2018 to another backpacker
This is what 4wding is all about !
Notice they weren’t talking about torque figures, kilowatts, mud patterns, and power chips.
Keep the dream alive lads !
They had it all sorted . Living the dream
There is something about budget builds that leaves you wanting more. It goes to show that you don't need to brake the bank. Hats off to these guys for their quick learning and handy work.
My heart goes out to them. As someone whose modified and lived in a 4wd overseas and had to leave it behind. They will be heart broken, you develop such a connection to it.
"Montero" here in the states. very overlooked but great vehicles.
Videos like this means anything is possible in the 4x4 world. Thanks!
One of the better videos so far, no fancy new stuff but well/smart self-build pajero. Guys know there stuff and not to lazy to dig in themselves!!
This was such a good episode. These guys look like they're having a blast on a budget.
we are! budget could be less if it wouldn't break so much but hey
Hey Ronny! sensational video mate, budget builds are something that should definetly be continued in the future, great to see some cars with good character and history!
Bravo to Bennett and Felix! I'm currently doing up my own budget build MQ Patrol. Huge respect to these guys for jumping into the deep end in a foreign country and chasing their dreams. Would love to catch up for a beer!
Let us know where you are! Would love to hit the bush with a little mq! we just did Cape York and almost in Cairns now.
Felix Hackenberg Awesome, sounds unreal! All the way down in Melbourne aha
A Pajero at last! hell yea :) Now we just need a vid on a NM Pajero 3.2 DID :) Keep up the awesome vids Ronny!
'99, 2.8 Turbo Diesel, Intercooler pls!!!...
Reckon this is your best Modified episode to date Ronny. Love their brand loyalty with Gumtree & ebay :)
So happy to see this! my first was an NH Paj the same colour. totally agree on the vac system and super select... never ending issues with it. i would never have changed to the cruiser if I didn't roll the Paj earlier in the year. the petty paj goes so hard!
My family has 3 of those Pajeros! ❤️ Bulletproof af
Great work as always Ronny, I really enjoyed this episode and both Felix and Bennett have fantastic can do attitudes that show what you can accomplish with the right mindset and a little bit of cash. Cheers Darren.
Great project. I'm selling my '98 Pajero 2.8L TDI after 14 yrs. Had some technical issues but love it regardless. At 460k mileage now. I considered to re-build it but, time to move on. Good memories.
just got myself a challenger and this has given me plenty of ideas for cheap yet useful mods. thanks for the video!
Best episode so far.
Something different.
Agreed. These guys seem so genuine and motivated to enjoy life.
Always nice to see those budget builds! Gives me hope
Good video. I'm getting an old Pajero myself that I plan on modifying. So it's good to see others doing it too. Pajeros are very underrated.
Best interview! These guys were so laid back u sure they're not Aussies 😀? Good luck lads, so jealous! More budget builds pls Ronny. 👍👍👍
Hahaha. Spot on.
I really like your review videos they give me a lot of usef ideas every time and I think this is one of the best reviews ever :) I like the way of thinking that those guys have! Great Pajero, great adventures, living a dream I would say! Keep on driving guys!
So cool. Holiday on a budget. I love how practical these guys are. they certainly know what they are doing. The trusty old PAJERO, so reliable off road.
What a great video! These guys are living their best life!
Great episode of modified. Could be the best one yet
These boys are awesome! Good luck with ur travel around Australia! Hope to see u guys on the tracks one day
You may! Look out for Manfred in FNQ at the moment ;)
Best mod film thus far Ronny lad. Good luck boys on the road. ATB Moose in Vic.
great episode, budget builds and 4wding go hand in hand. it's about making due with what you have and problem solving
Thanks Ronny. Loving the Paj and deffo keep the budget builds coming for us poor people lol.
Still the best budget build to date. This beast should be stuck in a museum!!
Awesome Ronny, I loved this budget build video. it's insperation and made my day. By the way those guys did a great job.
EmuOnWheels thanks 😁
Ronny! Love this video! I'd love to see more of these budget builds!
one of the best modified episode so far!!!
Sweet build and seem like some cool dudes!
The mighty NJ Pajero! What a weapon!
Man, Ronny I must say thank you mate for this video. Great stuff, these pajeros are dirt cheap where I'm from and I have always wondered if to go this route.
ThisIsAPrettyLongUserNameWhyTheFuckWouldHeDoThatSoThatEveryoneWouldThumbsUpIt get the 3.5l! I have one and the thing goes hard as fuck!
@@beefmomma 3.5l is alright but the 3.0 is better if you would ever like to power it I've read
Awesome Ronny, thanks for the first budget build, these guys nailed it! I was a bit surprised that rust wasn't one of the things to look out for. No 4WD does not have a potential rust problem but over here (I'm Swiss) the Pajeros have a tendency to be the worst. When we went to Western Africa our mates' Pajero suffered a broken frame three times because it was rusted from the inside to an extent that wasn't visible from the outside...
hey, my Pajero (in the Video) surprisingly has no rust at all even after taking it through lots of salt lakes and water. I've never seen a gen 2 Pajero (worked on lots of backpacker pajeros) with major rust, especially not on the frame. they seem to rust proof them really well over here! schöne grüße in die Schweiz ;)
Long time viewer, first time commenting. Definitely one of my favorite eps!!
awesome stuff! the best one yet, funny couple of blokes too!! good to see a budget build :-)
Great episode Ronny, loved it!!
Love your build and how you learned to fix stuff yourself!
The best episode so far. I love Pajero, mine is a 2.8L with diesel engine. I wish you both all the best, and when you come to the Europe, came to Portugal to say hello and drive a Pajero.
we'll let you know! but you should come to oz first. it's amazing
Nice edit Ronny.! My mate rolled one of these back when we got our first 4X4s that was a life time ago 😁👍
Jim
these guys are seriously inspiring. About to sell my Mazda Demio. Was thinking about going after a 80's Landcruiser but they just cost soo much. But these 2nd gen Pajeros keep coming up and I'm really keen on them.
oh how i miss backpacking in my 84 60series great vid as always ronny
I had a 96 3.5ltr 5spd petrol paj, no mods. always flogging the motor and never broke down. did 300,000km and was still going strong before I sold it
Really enjoyed this video (as i do the others) and Felix and Bennett seem like top blokes too!
Super geile Aktion Jungs!!!!
Really impressed with these guys. Proof that you can live an awesome lifeon just about any budget.
One of the best modified I’ve seen
love the budget build, please do more modified episode with budget cars!
What bloody legends, hope to meet these guys down at the coorong one day!!
Great video! Loving my 93 montero here in the states. I'm really jealous of that 5 speed gearbox I have a dogmatic!
What's the low ratio like on the dogmatic
I like it. learning as you go while still on a budget. 👍
Good onya guys! Thanks Ronny, really good to see these guys just getting out there.
+mat they are living the dream that's for sure
Great Video these clowns are awesome!! Good luck on your travels!!
Awsome budget build. Exactly what i was looking for lol
Danke an euch ;)
Just bought a 2012 200 series - Want it to go fast too so will paint the engine with red paint too! Great vid and great guys. Good shit fellas 😎
Sweet ep Ron, keep up the good work :)
Awesome as always, Ronny :)
the red baron! ducks at 17:19 cracked me up
Really enjoyed this review!
Offroading like a Boss! I love easy solutions that work, and adapt well to different shite. Cuz your shite is gonna change. A lot. Nice budget build!
Best video you have ever done mate!
Funny guys! Great build! Love a good budget build that doesn’t look janky
Just saw this Pajero in BRISBANE!!!
nice one Ronny. I love pajeros. got p4 now. really nice drive. cheers from europe
Good work to kitting it out cheaply and getting out there.
Awesome episode!!!
Still best episode to this date.
great story, this guys are adventures and o like their simple but very usefull preparation.
quintessential budget build!
thats an awesome trip those blokes are doing
Great rig! Function over form. Roll it over and still have fun and a lot of budget to get another one for cheap. Roll an expensive 4x4 and your done, most insurer wont sound nice when you need them. Long term offroading is about bashing a car while having fun anyway. Its about how skilled you are in bush fixing it, expensive cars arent always bulletproof in the bush.
Cool truck. Love old Shoguns.
Awesome mods, miss my 93 Paj but not to worry new model in the works :)
yas yas yas was waiting so long for this vid thanks mate
awesome work ! greetings from México
I own a 98 Montero winter package (factory lockers and adj susp) here in the states. I love this thing...230k still on the same motor and drivetrain it left the factory with.
awesome show ronny
Nice Pajero. excellent mods
Haha these guys are a trip! Bring them along on a trip!
Actually, that is a good idea....
Choose a vehicle from "Modded" each few months to tag only on a Trip with you guys, as a more long term test on their Modded or Budget build.
And just to compare it to the benchmark 79 series rigs.
awesome, more budget builds please!
Great guys, great spirit! Verdammt!
Cheers Ronny looking forward to the Challenger build. You need to get over to NZ for a 4wd
thank you!!! my off-road vehicle in a 95 pajro
This episode is very good
Great video, great vehicle! This is what I am dreaming about by still beeing realistic.
Mal sehen was als nächstes kommt...
great review Ronny, travel safe guys, probably a tigerz 11 winch
I like watching the modified episodes because I see vehicles I can't see here in the states. When I first saw this I thought, Pajero NJ, is that a town in New Jersey?I had to google it.
AWESOME BRO....THUMBS UP
More pajero love than 4wd Action shows and yours is a much better show. Nice one. BTW the link at the end of the clip for the Pajero build isn't there.
+Jason Wooler sorry will get onto tonight. You will find the full build at the website however 4-wheeling-in-western-Australia.com
Great video. Thanks
these are some good ideas, me and my stepdad are slowly rebuilding my 95 blazer i crashed about a month ago. (its my first car afterall and the damage was not as bad as it looked) I got super lucky finding it because everyone drives them until they die, i was able to find a non running 96 that had everything i needed and then some, but i can attest to the blazer's glory. they want to just keep going and if the A-frames on the parts truck werent so roached, it looks like the parts truck could run again. (its inspection expired in august of 2015)
It sounds kinda fun overlanding in different countries, and there are a couple countries i would not mind visiting.
