Something I just realized, here you the mentor who's a being who's big head made of light and a goofy robot made for comic relief aiding teenaged like super heroes. I guess Power Rangers was doing the old bit before it even began.
You are correct, the title change happened during the movies that boosted the Space race and NBC asked Filmation to change the title to take advantage. Around the same time Star Wars & Star Trek the motion picture was in the Theaters.
Fauna reminds of Rima who was a little known from Super Friends. Also do anyone think that she could of been the inspiration for Poison Ivy from Bat-Man?
Yeah like Rima too, her the Wonder Twins and Giantia and maybe a few others that I maybe overlooking . What I meant when I said that Rima was a little known character she was only use for a hand full of the earlier episodes before while they used other characters was created for Super Friends were way more. She wasn't one of the well intentioned racial stereotypes that were unusable time progressed, DC Comics didn't have too many good jungle characters male or female and I think her ability to summon animals was more versatile than a guy that could only summon fish and also breath under water not mention she one more female member besides Wonder Woman to a team that were vastly male.
I just meant that she didn't get as air time as Apache Chief, Black Vulcan, Samurai, and Eldorado, I should watch I say around people obviously know their Saturday cartoons. Rima, the Wonder Twins and Gianta and maybe few other I maybe overlooking that were used years later while well intention racial stereotypes that were created for the show are probably better left alone. DC didn't have too many good jungle characters male or female. She had her own comic book and her ability to summon animals was more versatile than can only talk to fish and breath under water. Plus she would have been one more female member on team that was vastly male.
And before I get myself into another endless geek debate, no I'm saying she have should have the main roster instead of Aquaman. She better off as the members they for the missions they as filler even thought that was stupid how they thought some situations only rate two members is like saying "we care but we don't care that much" it always seemed those stories took place in the separate universe from main roster where the second string didn't seemed to exist. And that said if they had to do that Aquaman shouldn't been on the main team because he was ineffectual when the adventures took them far from a body of water like in outer space or desert. I think the Flash would of been a better choice or maybe even Green Lantern.
The following year, the show changed to the Freedom Force and added Isis and dumped the Black Chick and kept the Asian guy, but he became a Giant Samurai, I guess they learned Mercury wasn't Asian.
Nope, Adam West was working on the New Adventures of Batman. Lou Scheimer (1928-2013), who was the co-founder and executive producer for Filmation Associates, was the voice of MO (Maintenance Operator) and Dr. Carlin in this episode. Btw, Lou's wife, Jay Scheimer (1931-2009) was the voice of the other scientist, and their daughter Erika, a veteran voice-over artist at Filmation, voiced the character of Fauna.
research shows that if she was raised by wolves at age 2 she'd have lost the ability to speak by 7. the part of the brain that controls speech would have turned off as it wasn't used. she'd also be a lot more animalistic. basically acting like a wolf.

I don't remember ever hearing about or seeing this cartoon before. Awesome that the heroes are so diverse, especially for the 70s..
Funny enough Astrya who has the powers of Vixen is actualy older than her.
Another cool 70s cartoon. The Space Sentinels were an obscure bunch created by Filmation
Yep, late 70s, I used to watch this along with a load of other super cool stuff.
I loved this cartoon as a kid ...Filmation were the best ....
The opening alone is better than anything of today's garbage
That's nostalgia talking and you know it🤦🏿♂️

If my memory is correct, this was originally titled "The Young Sentinels" changed to the Space Sentinels.

Yep, even in the late 70s the "Woke" Guardian reading lefties ruined everything.
What a thing for Fauna to say she hate's humans and yet she is human.
Not in terms of self-image. She thinks of herself as an oddly-shaped super intelligent wolf.
specterman2000 sounds like White liberals and antifa! They hate themselves too!
Essentially she's a Female Tarzan and she shares a kinship with Forest Animals cause they Raised her(she has no real connection with Humans)
Mercury is mah man. Cool as 70s ice.
lions and tigers and bears o my.

Poison Ivy first appeared in the comics in 1966, so NO.
Wow ! They still have newspapers.
Holy spin-off Batman. #🌱
Some kind of....Manbeast
Someone apparently had been reading Roy Thomas' Adam Warlock/Counter-Earth arc a few years earlier. Didn't even hide it.
Adorei ver esse desenho de novo pena que não é dublado mais nossa geração teve a melhor infância e boas influência
I do wonder, did the Astria character inspire DC Comics 's Vixen Character
Desenho pre - histórico!!
wow these guys could one shot justice league n avengers...
lol. nice retro super hero toon.
One of those animals was running backwards
That Forrest lab looks an awful lot like The Palace on Eternia.
And the voices of Hercules, Fauna, and the robot sound suspiciously like Bow, Frosta, and Broom, respectively 😄.
Amazing!!
The following year, the show changed to the Freedom Force and added Isis and dumped the Black Chick and kept the Asian guy, but he became a Giant Samurai, I guess they learned Mercury wasn't Asian.
He isn't?! That trickster...
At least they dropped the black chick. Kudos on that.
Shit! Turn down the reverb on that mic!
Fauna 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

So the talking wolf went to grandma's house to wait for Red riding hood.

I guess the writers didn't do enough research on that subject.
well no... this is the late 70s early 80s and a kids cartoon... its a common over used under researched trope... just kinda always bugged me.
She also has superpowers to speak and influence animals so...
It's just fiction, folks.
