Faux Embossing Technique

- Tutorial to show how to create the "Faux Embossing" technique using Stampin' Up! stamps and accessories :-) I forgot to mention in the video, but you can stamp the colored ink twice on top of the White Craft ink. This will give you a little darker contrast :-) Also, I added more samples of this card using the other In Colors on my blog: www.keenankreations.com/2013/0...
This. Is a fun technique for inks use. I have a stamp a majig but did not know to use the clear placement sheet. I put the stamp a majig down next to the block when I stamped the first time & tried to hold it and the paper while I reinked the stamp. Very difficult to keep all lined up. This is so much easier to keep the stampamajig in place on the project paper as you stamp repeatedly when using ombre coloring or creating a shadow effect or if the ink does not color completely the 1st stamp or you want to restart to make the color deeper.

Fantastic tutorial! I always forget about my handy Stampamajig (sp?)....beautiful card. Thank you for taking the time to show us how to do this...your instructions were very clear and easy to follow (not always the case with these things). And I agree with Dee, you have such a lovely voice, I could listen for hours!

Thanks Hazel but I didn't come up with this technique. I actually don't remember where I saw it, maybe online or at a Stampin' Up! convention? I'm trying to post more videos of techniques I've taught at classes so my customers have something to refer back to :-)
I think as long as you use a White Pigment ink (I have not tried the White Stazon ink) and a water-based ink the same color as your cardstock, you'll be fine :-) Thanks for subscribing too!

Love this technique but, where did you get the butterfly stamp???? It is not included in the "Just Believe" stamp set. I've visited your blog and you don't mention it at all. On this video you say that you faux embossed the butterfly as well. HELP?!

Hi Keenan, did you stamp the image on vellum paper?
Hi Liz! No vellum. I stamp the image directly on the cardstock, once in White Craft ink and once in Baked Brown Sugar. Just slightly offset to give the Faux Embossing look. Hope that helps!
Keenan Kreations Hi Keenan! I just watched the video again & you state that it was a plastic imaging sheet. I never heard of this. Where do you buy it?
Liz Hodge Oh! I'm so sorry Liz, I didn't realize that's what you were referring to. The plastic imaging sheet comes with the Stamp-a-majig and makes it possible to line up the 2nd stamping in exactly the right spot. I use the Stamp-a-majig from Stampin' Up! since I'm a demonstrator but I think you can find it in some of the retail craft stores. Do you have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator? Also, you could use a thicker Vellum (like cardstock Vellum) in place of the imaging sheet but you would still need the actual Stamp-a-majig.

Congratulations on becoming a demonstrator! I started out as a hobby demo almost 13 years ago - STILL love this stuff! The Stamp-a-majig is on page 197 in the current catalog and I think pg 235 in the new one :-)
