I love watching the games between you and your father. I have learned a few things that help with my game play. This game shows how even if you are close to removing the checkers, one bad move or roll of the dice changes the game.
White didn't play the wrong move.. he played the odds.. he should have got away with his opponent not throwing a one for at least one throw.. crazily, he threw a one when needed three times running ! Who would believe ? !!!
3:37 1,2,3,5?! Black dice guy should have caught that. But by miscounting this you screwed up your own move at 4:06 when you rolled 5&2, and instead of actually blocking #1, you ended up having to leave your guy exposed at #1 and then getting knocked off of #1 at 4:25
So, this is a New player question. Am I able to hit two blots with the same checker during the same roll of the dice? Not saying it's a double and I roll a 1 and a 4 and there is a blot 1 and 4 positions from me.
why didn't he move 10 points when he got double five at 3: 27 . isn't he allowed to play 10 two times or move like 20 at one single time . just the 10 it self would of helped him get his checker back in the game .
Brilliant, excellent instructional video, l’m trying to learn the game, wow, l thought chess was bad...where can l buy a board like you have? Thanks for that, be good if you could break down the rules by showing moves, really great video....Robert.
Will make more backgammon videos solely because of your comment right here! :) I would say you can best quality boards at the best prices if you visit Iran or some other Middle-eastern countries, but with the on-going pandemic, I don't think you'd be able to anytime soon. So, I am guessing you can find similar boards on Amazon or e-bay or other such websites. If you were not able to find any, feel free to contact me so I personally go to the market to find a good one to ship to you.
Nice to hear from you, more video’s would be a bonus, lol, just play a little slower, you both were so fast l had to re run to understand what what was going on, l’m only a simple Scots man living in France. Re the boards, there are plenty of them around as you say on Amazon etc, however l’d like a board l could pass on in my family. I’ve no idea what to buy or size etc. I liked the board you both were playing on, therefore l’ve been looking for something similar, of nice quality that will be both attractive and playable. I appreciate your reply, please pass on my best to your father. I’ll post a pic of me dressed in my kilt to show l’m the real deal, ie, Scots...best wishes Robert.
@@robcarr23 Hi again dear Robert, I only read your comment just before shooting "Episode 5", I did ask my father to do more commentary :) I can only imagine how much your kids would love that, I will post a photo of a set my friend bought when he visited me two years ago on my IG at: instagram.com/capitanlazy/ One of the things I have always wanted to do is to try and wear kilts, to maybe look a little more like "the real deal"!! Stay Safe!
Hi Robert. The board that is featured is the Helena Board, manufactured by the Helena Company in Turkey. it is featured in Backgammon Champ Marc Olsen board collection. (UA-cam Marc Olsen Board collection) Olsen reviews 5 boards and the Helena is the 5th 10 minutes into the video..
@Robert Caruthers - DO NOT buy a board like this, buy one with a soft playing surface. Playing on a wooden board is noisy and very annoying and you will not see any tournament players owning one.
Drives me nuts seeing dad remove the dice from the board before the son's move is even started. Dice should almost never be touched until the moves are complete.
When your dad stayed on the bar with the 6-3 (2.01) that was a double and pass. After that you were playing fantasy backgammon. Miracle turn-arounds are always possible but in REAL backgammon you have to pay for the chance at that turn-around by accepting a double. The video also demonstrates a view that I have long held; wooden boards are awful.
I agree, playing with money is more exciting and loosing at that game means loosing money. I have grown up with wooden boards and I find the noise they make fascinating while playing.
@qvistus82 - Who the heck mentioned westerners? Oh! that's right, it was YOU. Furthermore what I mean by 'real Backgammon' is the version that has resulted in the widespread and still rising popularity of the game worldwide, the version that involves the Doubling Cube. Without the doubling cube Backgammon would be little more than a regional curiosity played by tourists with the locals.
@@cryax3447thanks mate 🙏 why can’t he jump straight to the 9th column though? I thought the rule allows to use either do 3 and a 6 with two pieces or a 9 with only one piece.
@@Handel369 Yes he can move one checker 9 spaces, but they have to move in a sequence. So he has to first move the checker 3 spaces, and then 6 spaces, or move 6 spaces, and then 3. You can't jump over checkers blocked by your opponent.
That 5-2 move at 4:13 was just ridiculous. The dad would have come in on the 1 and the guy could have started taking his men off the board. I stopped watching because it was just stupid at that point.
Well I was aiming to win him at double, after all the chances of him landing was only one over six, also he had another open bead at him home-base.. These are the decisions you make at the spot and sometimes you never think how wrong you are.
What is the maximum number of your pieces you can have one point/spike? Ive watched a few tutorials on how to play and nobody has mentioned it i dont think. Thanks

3:39 3 and 5. you did 1,2,3,5 and then the three, but you move 4 spaces
unintentional mistakes happen... not an official game.
@Captain Lazy and we notice that with the 52 2 rolls later you would have closed your home board :)
i am actually so happy, i am trying to understand the rules and i thought i was getting crazy ahah
These matches with your dad are great. Id love to see more
Your teaching style is very good for beginners. Easy to follow and not so confusing.
I like this style of backgammon although I prefer the tournament style this is a lot more laid back
Great video. Interesitng, funny, informative. Thanks a lot
That was such a great game, very fun to watch.
White didn't play the wrong move.. he played the odds.. he should have got away with his opponent not throwing a one for at least one throw.. crazily, he threw a one when needed three times running ! Who would believe ? !!!
Double 6 you can move 24 times
That is a beautiful board

Good catch. Youre right. 1 miscount led to him losing.....1,2,3,5 haha
Interesting and informative

Yes, Ofc. As long as you are not in your home quarter. In your home quarter, you cannot hit and go.
You can in backgammon, not in tavla.
Double 6 cant you move one Piece 4 times
Should do more of your gameplay vids
I like the rules of having to move a different piece with each die.. Makes it more challenging and forces better strategy..

3:40 was wrong number it was 3.5 and you played 3.4
Fun match
At 9:06 why didn’t brown shirt take the 2 in 7 spot and move them on the double 6 roll?
Only one (1) of his four sixes was legally playable.
You have to shake the dice in your hand !!!!

He made an error. In 3:34 he had 3 and 5 but he played 3 and 4.
Great game :D
Very exciting
I forgot to play this game, let me remember.
2:02 why can’t he move to 9th column?
He can't jump straight to the 9th point. He has to enter the checker on either 3 or 6 first, but he can't because those points are blocked.

nice board
just because you missplayed on 3:39 minute you played 4 instead of 5 you missed the chance to block every square with 5/2 on 4:12 minute
I love how they say3 tree
You made an illegal move at 3:36 - You counter 1-5 but skipped 4. Game is invalid.
I still dont know how to play
I hate wooden backgammon boards. Leather/felt ones are the ones to go for
My friend, You’re going to the wrong way around the board!
jish kon roo dastet
4:54 wrong move, 6 and 2
😂😂 all those 1 rolls…. You poor guy
Ur counting....

God your opponent is so annoying.
He isn't the smartest player
This is theft... Numbers all over the globe are said in the Kurdish language in this game, why do you say them in English??!!!
Your a fool
