I know it was probably a pain in the ass, but I love that you actually swatched the eye products on your eyelids. How something can swatch on your arm will obviously be very different from the lid. Your hard work is much appreciated! Hope you're feeling better, BTW!

I also find Glossier's choice of packaging very interesting, especially as a conscious millennial brand, I think they need an entire overhaul of their packaging practices.
I appreciate that you highlighted the excessive packaging, I find it esp. tone-deaf from a millennial brand. At least if something was reusable, like their pouches (say a cute 70's-jean pocket w/a "Play" tag?)...This line, as a whole, seems like a disappointing execution of a very cool concept/aesthetic (night out/"70's disco" inspired). When I 1st saw the branding, I thought they were trying to entice a more colorful/adventurous makeup wearer to Glossier. Now that I see how the products perform, I think they're just offering more variety to their core customer base.The brand placement of the line just seems weird, & overall it feels unfocused.The lip formula & highlighter could easily be part of their regular line, the liners have such a cool color selection in such a seemingly subpar formula (you can get MUCH better formulas @ the drugstore), & the glitters are more a novelty/night out item (for most people) than an everyday "wearable" glitter (like Stila). It feels like either an expensive version of Colourpop, or a (marginally) less expensive version of Linda Hallberg; but w/out the focus or consistency of those brands. Time will tell if this line lasts, or is added to. I personally see myself trying the highlighter & lip vinyl. Thanks Jamie, for all of your hard work!

Jamie, have you tried using the silicone applicator with the glitters? I find that it applied SOOO much easier with their applicator. I actually don't like them without the applicator. Like, for real. Try them with the applicator!!

I really liked that you didn’t do a full face of testing new products. I liked that you did individual searches- honestly I find that the most accurate because it really shows how products perform vs when people do a full face of new products.
Lemonhead Lemonhead Lemonhead! They are just the best for the glitter in Gel products. Houdini is my fave and multiple people ask me about it whenever I wear it and that includes makeup counters from MAC to Armani.
how do you wear Houdini? on a bare lid, or over another color? I just got it and I love it but I'm still trying to find the best way to wear it.... I also agree that Lemonhead is the BEST for wearable glitter.
If we could have a Jamie review on every makeup product one could buy especially those only available online not in stores then I I would always know exactly what I was getting in said products and what likely won’t work for me. Jamie, you can totally see all the hard work you’ve done creating this one with all the in-depth swatching, that even Glossier Play failed to do. Seriously. I have nothing bad to say. I'm so glad I waited to buy until your video came out. I will say, I would love to see you give the glitters a shot over some of the eye pencils, like Dacey Cash.. But if you did that in this video, it would have given a false idea of what these products can do.
Great video Jamie! I really dont know how I feel about this launch honestly. I think they should've worked on it more. The glitters are perfect for festivals and to put on the area where you add highlight. I think I would only but the lip vinyls

I could get behind the highlighter and the lips, but why does a "minimalist" brand need body glitter! Who thought that was a good idea aha. Also A++ for critiquing the excessive packaging!
Same thoughts! I'm starting to think it's all just a way to take our money. We had colours & glitter & brown lips & shiny pouts before, till the industry went and popularised a fresh face with barely there makeup and gorgeous skin. All of which had us running towards minimalist brands to get the same look! Now that our vanities are filled with makeup (that's barely visible) they do a complete 180° and say, long live the colour! Three cheers for creativity and 'playing' with makeup. Leaves me fed up to be honest. 😑

Love you, Jamie! Your reviews are always so helpful and thorough. I feel like Glossier, for it’s price range, puts out products with a lot of caveats attached. The skin tint barely has pigment and then the eye glitters didn’t seem very user friendly. The eyeliner look like they require a bit of finessing. I understand that’s what they’re going for- “less is more”- but sometimes it just seems lackluster. I’m not sure about them as a brand just yet. I feel like the drugstore puts out more pigmented, user friendly products at a lower cost 🤷🏻♀️ I hope to see more things from them in the future for sure

The other thing is I would absolutely love to see you do a review of the original creator of the gel type glitters, Lemonhead. I just have to say, Lemonhead LA did NOT invent the glitter gel formula concept...Chanel had a formula like that more than 10 yrs. ago., & in the late 90's-early 2000's those formulas were everywhere & usually very inexpensive. Have they come out w/a good formula & repopularized that type of product, YES! Did they invent it, no...
Natalie Valentina I had a feeling someone was going to correct me about that. Lol. When Colourpop came out with their glitter gels, I was watching the Lemonhead LA IG live and they were talking about how they felt were being copied and they had records that Colourpop, as well as the person they were collabing with at the time, had purchased their entire line 6 months prior to coming out with their own and since then I have seen quite a few brands releasing very similar products. They claim to be the first company to come out with products like theirs but perhaps they are referring to the formula and how it works as opposed to just the idea of mixing glitter and a gel like substance together.
@@katiesbeenyarnified I know what you mean, & I'm sure LHLA doesn't appreciate other brands coming out w/similar products, as that's their market space. But unfortunately, that's how a free market works (if it's not something that can be patented). However, I also think that the average makeup wearer probably hasn't heard of them, & wouldn't be willing to pay their prices for what will only be a novelty/special occasion product for them.They are a niche, high-end brand, & at least they're getting exposure anytime an item like this comes out from another brand...
Natalie Valentina agreed, they are pricey. They are starting to make more minis which is really nice, and I’m kind of interested to try their supposed transfer proof glitter lip gel, and heard those were in minis. Anyway, I don’t even have any kind of weird loyalty to them at all, I just really like to owner a lot. I kind of stumbled across them on IG one day and started following them and just like that that they are really open to beauty being inclusive and the general vibe I get is always really genuine. Their products are super fun and unique and everyone can use them, but I do think they gear their advertising more towards makeup artists.
I really like the way the lip products look, but I have to say that given the name of the product and some of the pictures I’ve seen of them, I didn’t think they looked that shiny. I was expecting a vinyl shine but it didn’t even look glossy to me. I thought that were going to be much more glossy, almost like the new Wet Cherry glosses from Lime Crime, which are probably my favorite gloss I’ve ever tried. ♥️♥️♥️

I love glossier! My favorites are the foundation, highlighter, lipgloss, concealer, and serums. Haven’t tried the eyeliner or shadows, but I’m more into the natural look.
So funny that glossier got rid of their sticker sheets with every order to save on “waste” and then released these with such wasteful packaging... seems counterproductive. Thanks for this review!!
Love the brutally honest, in-depth review. I kinda find the entire spin-off of this brand to be quite gimmicky, tbh, but your review was spot on. You tried to give these a chance and when they didn't work as well, you were honest. No you're not being negative at all 💓
I agree with your thoughts! Glossier tried so hard to plug ‘skin before makeup’ and now they went hardcore Coachella to milk that population. Not a fan.

I loved the glitters! Put them all over the lid and inner corner and had no fall out, or problems with the inner corner pieces moving into my eye! Also found is super easy to apply?! Especially with the silicone applicator

As someone who’s trying to seriously reduce their waste the packaging is a major drawback for me for these products. I love the eyeliners are really want to try them out and I think with the review you gave I’d be able to work with them myself. Thank you for such an open and honest review!
I haven’t tried the Nightshine, but otherwise agree with you that Color Slide Eye Pencil in Early Girl is an unusual shade. I love the Vinylic Lip Lacquers and like the shade Disco a lot more than I would. I just ordered Pony and Blow Up, just because of your swatches. 😊
I had been waiting for this video so I was so excited to watch it. And let me tell you Jamie you didn’t dissapoint me! Such thorough and honest review. ✨♥️ Without trying the products I’m most excited about the highlighters and I kinda see myself buying one of the shades in the future. 😁 The lip vinyls also seem to be intriguing. I’m a bit dissapointed that the eyeliners don’t glide on as smoothly as one would expect, but I love the colours especially ‘Disaster class’. Lastly, the glitters just seem so chunky and painful to wear to me. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m interested to see whether Glossier Play will change their packaging. (I hope they will.)

thank you so much for this review and getting it posted as fast as possible!! I've been searching youtube every single day since it launched and it feels like there was NO PR SENT for this. which obv would be nice to tell ppl what's going on with such an out of left field product launch from glossier. I will be honest, when they launched the logo, with the seventies font and silk sheets, I thought it was going to be a sexy body product line and the foil packaging just goes along with that, in a not so classy or high end experience kind of way. I am still curious about the silicone tool with other gel glitters or jelly products.
Thanks for the thorough review! The only thing I was interested in was the glitter but I think I'll pass. My problem with Glossier is that it's all about the branding. I could find products that do the same thing or far better that are easier to access (drugstore, Sephora, Ulta). Don't get me wrong, I do like and use a few of their products, but there are very few things that stand out to me. I also find the "cool model girl" vibe to be a little pretentious, whereas brands like Hourglass, Loreal, Mac, Anastasia, etc are a bit more elegant.

I'm actually really intrigued by the new glossier play products. I am interested in the highlighter drops and the colorful liners. I think theres a few other products from the brand that I was interested in but I can't remember them all lol.
I think they also sold a silicon brush to go with the jelly glitters. It sucks to have to use a specific tool to apply them, but maybe that would give more control over placement?

I prefer the normal Glossier line. Although I'm not quite into that super duper mega natural makeup of glossier, but I prefer it than this Play line. I think they went too "child" makeup with this one.

I'm probably not going to pick any of this up because I don't use a lot of glitter, and I only use biodegradable glitter, which I don't think these are (correct me if I'm wrong though!). I just have to say, Lemonhead LA did NOT invent the glitter gel formula concept...Chanel had a formula like that more than 10 yrs. ago., & in the late 90's-early 2000's those formulas were everywhere & usually very inexpensive. Natalie Valentina I had a feeling someone was going to correct me about that. Lol. When Colourpop came out with their glitter gels, I was watching the Lemonhead LA IG live and they were talking about how they felt were being copied and they had records that Colourpop, as well as the person they were collabing with at the time, had purchased their entire line 6 months prior to coming out with their own and since then I have seen quite a few brands releasing very similar products. They claim to be the first company to come out with products like theirs but perhaps they are referring to the formula and how it works as opposed to just the idea of mixing glitter and a gel like substance together.
@@katiesbeenyarnified I know what you mean, & I'm sure LHLA doesn't appreciate other brands coming out w/similar products, as that's their market space. But unfortunately, that's how a free market works (if it's not something that can be patented). However, I also think that the average makeup wearer probably hasn't heard of them, & wouldn't be willing to pay their prices for what will only be a novelty/special occasion product for them.They are a niche, high-end brand, & at least they're getting exposure anytime an item like this comes out from another brand...
Natalie Valentina agreed, they are pricey. They are starting to make more minis which is really nice, and I’m kind of interested to try their supposed transfer proof glitter lip gel, and heard those were in minis. Anyway, I don’t even have any kind of weird loyalty to them at all, I just really like to owner a lot. I kind of stumbled across them on IG one day and started following them and just like that that they are really open to beauty being inclusive and the general vibe I get is always really genuine. Their products are super fun and unique and everyone can use them, but I do think they gear their advertising more towards makeup artists.
I really like the way the lip products look, but I have to say that given the name of the product and some of the pictures I’ve seen of them, I didn’t think they looked that shiny. I was expecting a vinyl shine but it didn’t even look glossy to me. I thought that were going to be much more glossy, almost like the new Wet Cherry glosses from Lime Crime, which are probably my favorite gloss I’ve ever tried. ♥️♥️♥️
I went in here wanting the liner and so glad I watched. This is why I love you I would have been pissed if I got those‼️

I love glossier! My favorites are the foundation, highlighter, lipgloss, concealer, and serums. Haven’t tried the eyeliner or shadows, but I’m more into the natural look.
So funny that glossier got rid of their sticker sheets with every order to save on “waste” and then released these with such wasteful packaging... seems counterproductive. Thanks for this review!!

Love the brutally honest, in-depth review. I kinda find the entire spin-off of this brand to be quite gimmicky, tbh, but your review was spot on. You tried to give these a chance and when they didn't work as well, you were honest. No you're not being negative at all 💓

I agree with your thoughts! Glossier tried so hard to plug ‘skin before makeup’ and now they went hardcore Coachella to milk that population. Not a fan.
Thank you for your honest feedback as always.... have to say though, you may want to give that copper glitter one more shot because it actually looks quite beautiful on with your eyes and hair... kinda grungy but without going black... hope it makes sense and that you will revisit...play around with it and the tarte toasted palette😘

I loved the glitters! Put them all over the lid and inner corner and had no fall out, or problems with the inner corner pieces moving into my eye! Also found is super easy to apply?! Especially with the silicone applicator

I haven’t tried the Nightshine, but otherwise agree with you that Color Slide Eye Pencil in Early Girl is an unusual shade. I love the Vinylic Lip Lacquers and like the shade Disco a lot more than I would. I just ordered Pony and Blow Up, just because of your swatches. 😊

I’m a bit dissapointed that the eyeliners don’t glide on as smoothly as one would expect, but I love the colours especially ‘Disaster class’. Lastly, the glitters just seem so chunky and painful to wear to me. 🤷🏻♀️
I’m interested to see whether Glossier Play will change their packaging. (I hope they will.)

thank you so much for this review and getting it posted as fast as possible!! I've been searching youtube every single day since it launched and it feels like there was NO PR SENT for this. which obv would be nice to tell ppl what's going on with such an out of left field product launch from glossier. I will be honest, when they launched the logo, with the seventies font and silk sheets, I thought it was going to be a sexy body product line and the foil packaging just goes along with that, in a not so classy or high end experience kind of way. I am still curious about the silicone tool with other gel glitters or jelly products.
How does the Glossier nightshine highlighter concentrate compare to Becca Pearl liquid highlighter?

Thanks for the thorough review! The only thing I was interested in was the glitter but I think I'll pass. My problem with Glossier is that it's all about the branding. I could find products that do the same thing or far better that are easier to access (drugstore, Sephora, Ulta). Don't get me wrong, I do like and use a few of their products, but there are very few things that stand out to me. I also find the "cool model girl" vibe to be a little pretentious, whereas brands like Hourglass, Loreal, Mac, Anastasia, etc are a bit more elegant.

I'm actually really intrigued by the new glossier play products. I am interested in the highlighter drops and the colorful liners. I think theres a few other products from the brand that I was interested in but I can't remember them all lol.

I think they also sold a silicon brush to go with the jelly glitters. It sucks to have to use a specific tool to apply them, but maybe that would give more control over placement?

I prefer the normal Glossier line. Although I'm not quite into that super duper mega natural makeup of glossier, but I prefer it than this Play line. I think they went too "child" makeup with this one.

I'm probably not going to pick any of this up because I don't use a lot of glitter, and I only use biodegradable glitter, which I don't think these are (correct me if I'm wrong though!). The eyeliners entice me a bit but I'm not sure if I'd love the texture.
