I love how there is no mention of Nico Harrison. The man drafted Hardy, did great in this years draft, signed ky while keeping the mle. The man deserves way more praise than what anybody is giving him. And he is not done yet.
Brunson? Do we give him praise for that too?
We don't know if he did good in this draft yet. He took what was there
@@halfstream1461that wasn’t really his fault tbh. The previous front office didn’t give Brunson a option on the last year of his contract. Literally every draft pick gets it, idk why we didn’t give Brunson one. That would of put him in restricted free agency and the Mavs get the chance to match any offer he would of gotten. He wouldn’t have been able to leave unless he played out the new contract or request a trade.
@@halfstream1461 pretty sure that wasn't on Nico. Cuban even said he dropped the ball on that. I mean really that's not that hard to read into with Rick brunson.
@@bartholomew1608 ok #1 got off the bertans contract, picked up the best center in the draft and a kid who pretty much shut down the best players he played against in college. Also picked up a vet center. All that with the 10th pick.
Bringing him back was honestly the best decision for the mavs.
Only decision
Dude was amazing with the Mavs last season on offense.
They were doing better without him .
@@GGonzalez-um2ew I agree. I don't expect the Mavs to contend again next season. Look what happened to the Celtics when Kyrie was there. I'm not gullible enough to know next season will be another failure for the Mavs. Bad fit by all means having Luka and Kyrie together.
@@GGonzalez-um2ew Jalen Brunson was a much better fit alongside Luka. The Mavs need another Jalen Brunson type player who has a solid IQ and can play a traditional PG that Kyrie is not.
My reaction is happy cuz ESPN is gonna be crying all summer cuz the he ain’t going to the Lakers.
The Lakers got to the conference finals and get more heat for losing to the champs than Dallas who couldn’t even make the play in.

“played pretty well”?? Kyrie looked amazing with the Mavs. Dominant offensive performances nightly.
Played pretty well 🤔 is about winning and with him they were losing.
@@GGonzalez-um2ewThey can’t win with no defenders individually Kyrie did his part
Luka looked ordinary next to Kyrie!
"Kyrie looked amazing"
Yeah but the Mavs didn't! They went from comfortably having a winning record without Kyrie on the team to a losing record with him! I don't even want to hear the excuses. The jarring contrast in the Mavs record before and after Kyrie says it all! They had one of the better records in the west before he arrived and then had one of the worst records in the entire league after.
He's a terrible fit. He always was. Even with him playing very well on the offensive end, the team is simply worse with him than without him. He's a defensive liability, and having him in the starting lineup takes the ball away from Luka. I can see if he was a 6th man coming in for Luka to add an added attacking punch off the bench. But the team doesn't seem to work when they're both on the court. It's as simple as that. Kyrie is like Russel Westbrook. Skillful, flashy, can put up numbers....But he doesn't make his teams better or put them over the top. He's an individualist player. And just like Westbrook, his presence actually shackles the potential of his teams. It's happened in Boston, then Brooklyn, and now it's happening in Dallas. That's not a coincidence.
He just need to learn to feed the other guys. Kyrie playing without Luka and he had No assists that game, Luka without kyrie, Luka would have 10 assist in the first quarter 😂
Just gotta share instead of stupid shots. Kyrie gotta play thru Luka. Not no solo dolo NY ball kyrie always tries to play
There's no way the Mavs were gonna just let Kyrie walk after only half a season with him. $126 million is pretty high for only 3 years, but good on them. They got it done. Let's see what they do with the rest of the roster.
$126 is not high. Kyrie could have gotten 5 years $272 from Dallas who was not stupid enough to give it to him being that no other team wanted Kyrie.
Hope Luka leaves asap. Kyrie kills his teams.
I think this contract is easier to trade after the first year if it doesn’t work out and someone else want him.
it was 16 games
breaking news lebron getting traded to dallas
When she mentioned "over a billion dollars in contracts already"

Honestly their offense with just them 2 were top 3 in the league in offensive efficiency. The problem was rim protection and rebounding. An issue they had before the Kyrie trade but was masked because of DFS perimeter defensive skills. I say masked because their defense was still bad with their offense still being stagnant with DFS because Luka had to do everything on offensive as no other point guard could get their own shot up as a 3 level threat. You got that with Kyrie now just find the right perimeter defender and a vet center who can rebound then it helps level out this team. For them to be championship contenders its going to depend on Luka not bringing the ball up but calling for more low post opportunities. While also finding a center who can man the paint because Dwight Powell ain't it. So Dereck Lively development would have to be swift

At his best Kyrie is a TOP 10 Player in the world. 27ppg on 51% from the field and 40% from 3 point range! THATS all world elite on all levels of offense
He's won 2 play-off series in the last 6 years...."top 10 player"???
He's won exactly one playoff series in his career where his teammate wasn't LeBron James or Kevin Durant. Not to mention his dribble-heavy, shoot-first game has never made a team better (Cleveland pre-LeBron return, Boston, Brooklyn and Dallas last year). He's an indifferent defender, a mediocre passer and has been team chemistry killer at every stop in his career. Not to mention he's always good to miss 20 games because of an injury.
Get rid of Malika plz
Its a 3 year del with a player option he will play 2 years with mavs and opt out that 3rd year get another contract so good move by kyrie
I love when free agency happens and you find out all these guys with inside information and rumours are all BS.
They need to replace the defense they lost and stop letting mark Cuban make basketball decisions and make their offense less Luka dependent.
Yeah....... but why didn't ESPN fire Perkins?
Y’all gotta get Perk off TV, his takes are horrible bro. Saying Luka played bad last year is actually insane. Bro is 1st team all nba, & was out a lot of those games toward the end of season & still avg 34 9 & 8 like c’mon.
Luka wasn’t elite. Luka missed too many 3’s despite shooting a ton every game. Luka had too many turnovers, followed by no hustle, and usually bad defense. He got 1st team all-NBA a little bit out of charity. He wasn’t one of the 5 best in the league last season after the first few months. I’m a Mavs fan.

It's because Kyrie Irving's numbers never have had much positive impact on teams getting better (Cleveland pre-LeBron James return, Boston, Brooklyn, Dallas a year ago. In some cases, the teams got worse with him because his dribble-heavy, shoot-first game never has been conducive to teambuilding and winning. And you can't blame it on his teammates since he left Cleveland, because he's played with All-Star and All-NBA players at his last three stops.

Add context. Chris Paul was important to that phoenix team. Round 2 goes 7 with Cp3 and I’m not sure I’m taking Denver.
I saw McMahon on The Hoop Collective prior to signing and I thought he nailed it in that he commented (a) no real other market for Kyrie in terms of giving him leverage for a long contract ( b) but Mavericks had created their own leverage against themselves because it would be too embarrasing to lose him ( especially in the eyes of Luka) and if they had to give him enough of a term and money so he would not "sulk" claiming to have been "disrespected " . Dallas was the fourth seed in the Western Conference when it acquired Irving and proceeded to drop to 11th. And it's not just that Doncic and Irving don't complement each other -- Irving's dribble-heavy, shoot-first game is not conducive to teambuilding. And it's not just with Doncic -- we saw Irving play my turn, your turn with Kevin Durant and it didn't work. And let's mention Irving's final season in Boston, which was a team chemistry disaster.
The only time it worked was when Irving played with arguably the greatest small forward in NBA history (LeBron James), who effectively was the point guard while Irving was more of a scoring guard. And even then, Irving chafed in the role because he wanted more attention.
