      the wiring will make you want to jump out of the window, the first guitar you make will never be as good as any after it so your first guitar you'll pay less attention to detail in areas you should pay more in because it's the small things that make a guitar my bridge pickup is crooked which is the most frustrating thing ever because im the only one who notices but its the one thing i see but it is straightforward and alot of fun just know you will make mistakes and your first one will not be perfect so don't go for a dream guitar on your first do something simple. have fun

      Grayson Adams Well... for sure it’s not a Les Paul!! Nothing wrong with a bolt on neck but immediately that just makes it a guitar vaguely shaped like a Les Paul with a bolt on neck. 🤷🏼‍♂️
      Oh... and on your “dream guitar” for $300 quality control issues like those on the binding (which were pretty obvious and significant really) are fine but smaller and easier to solve issues on the low priced $800 Gibsons are a huge issue for people?

    Recently I have just been buying bad second hand guitars on gumtree and pulling them apart instead of the diy kits because usually it costs less and usually I pay around $50-$70 (Aud) for them second hand and sometimes they have a nice finish I want to keep, but otherwise I just sand it off. Also, if they are a bit older, they are a cheep and easy way to make a guitar with a rosewood fretboard. Your vids are great thx

I would recommend to everyone - build a guitar instead of spending a $1000 at the big name guitar stores. Take your time - both my builds took about a month, but just be patient. UA-cam has everything you need to know to custom make your dream guitar.

      @@codyschrecengost197 I think it's a great idea, i will do some research and check my budget before ordering the kit, but there is a pretty good chance i do and building the guitar with my dad sounds incredible.
      But the pickups worry me, do you think they are good?

    • @codyschrecengost197
      @codyschrecengost197 5 років тому +3

      Don Palanqueto that’s another thing I would recommend. Get new electronics for sure. I upgraded the pots and switches on mine as well as put Seymour Duncan pickups in. I never actually used the kit pickups so I’m not sure what quality they are. I went into my build with a plan in my head of how I wanted it to look and what I wanted in it. And white Seymour Duncan’s were always on my shopping list. That’s what I mean when I say take your time and do your research. You’re basically making your own signature model guitar. You can make it look and sound literally however you want it to. So figure out what you love as far as sound goes and find the best deals to find that sound. That’s what I would recommend

    Question for you. The Rickenbacker 325 guitar was what John Lennon used in the early Beatles music. Trying to get one either requires a lot of money or getting what’s been called a Chinese Rickenbacker or Chickenbacker. The Chinese version I have heard on UA-cam seems to have a various attempts of quality.
    So my evil thought for you is this. Have you ever thought about doing a clone of a 325 by using a Stratocaster body, Rickenbacker pickups, and a short scale neck using Pyramid Strings. Plus also doing the same wiring as the original one had. That would give those who would like to have similar to a Rickenbacker scale wise and possibly similar tone due to the Toaster pickups. It would be very unique guitar too. :)
    Love your videos and would love to see you do a gun video using an m1 carbine to test.

      Charlie Foster that absolutely will not turn an epi into a LP. Change all Chinese electronics and put good pickups in it not necessarily Duncan’s. They are over priced. GFS makes a bunch of pups as good. Check out GFS ON UA-cam. Lots of comparisons between the two brands and it shows that you can get a terrific set of humbuckers for $75.
