Sir, I am planning to choose MD anesthesia in this year's counseling. I wanted to be an intensivist in the future. But now the NEET SS pattern has changed, what do you think about the other options like IFCCM (as compared to DM critical care)? Will there be a good scope after fellowship or should I go for other super specialty branches like DM Cardiac anesthesia etc?

I am Anesthetist , 4th year in my career.
Government pay for doctor is same irrespective of stream. It’s depend upon post. Assistant professor in cardiology earn same as assistant professor in anatomy. Matter is private practice , which bring bigger chunk for cardiologist. Similarly, free lancing matter for Anesthesiologist. In private, anesthesiologist may earn 2500 per case to 20000 per case ( like bariartic surgery). Plus Anesthesiologist get post for their intensivist approach. In 4th year of practice, one can easily earn 2 to 3 lakh per month in private. With age, work get affected , so ver years, free lance decreased and earning decrease too in private practice . It’s not like surgeons who earn more when they get older. This branch need young persons, who can work for longs and odd hours. Now choice is urs.
tanweerize thank you very much for detailed information. I don’t understand why the mentors do not explain about the pay. I understand it’s important to love the subject and serve with passion but by the end of the month salary matters . It’s frustrating when they tell you do not worry about the pay if your good you’ll earn well .
@@tanweerize hello sir . thanks for the information. But I have a doubt as u said This branch needs young persons who work long and odds ok .But what if person gets Old in the same field working as anasthesialogist .What will be the position of the person ? What will be the pay after 10yrs?
Swamy Sai , in government hospital, u will be professor and associates, so u will earn for less clinical and more academic and administrative work. In private, situations is too cruel. Pple get fired after serving 15 years in private hospital. Yet, with specialisation in difficult surgery, mastery over new techniques, advanced airways and echo etc ur value will remain high.
Generally I advice my juniors to never left learning in this field. And for higher degree better to go EDAIC, FRCA instead of NEET SS for private oriented practice.

Patients prefer orthopedicians for pain management in rural n small towns....
Anesthetists are consider as wifes of surgeons as without anesthetist cannot operate...
Nope they are husband... without their permission .. surgeon cant put incision on patient
