Rare is the builder who shows what components look like under the hood. Awesome job on that desk-armoire!
Hi George! I truly wish your waiting list wasn’t so long bc I’d have a vehicle in your shop in a heartbeat. But, bc of that I’ve decided to go with a 2024 GMC HD 4WD, crew cab AT4 (with Duramax diesel engine), and, a Northstar 850Sc pop up camper. I just don’t trust any of the Class B manufacturers anymore…I’ve seen too many complaints of cheap and shoddy workmanship with ‘ALL’ of them on UA-cam and other places in the last couple of years….except YOURS. I’ve dreamed for several years of having an Humble Rod creation beneath my body as I drove the open road again [after retiring from 38 years as an OTR trucker/owner operator], but, it is what it is. I love the computer area setup behind the driver’s seat..y’all never cease to amaze me with your creativity. Hoping you have a great and blessed Sunday! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! ~Jim~
Best to you with your new acquisition Jim . I wish you many blissful miles.
Jim, put yourself on that list! Meanwhile keep popping-up. Retired trucker ❤ : without you, your collegues - ánd the sailors - we as consumers would live a very sparse life.
That wood desk module! WOW! Beautiful!
As always first class workmanship!
Sharing the mechanics of what is behind the curtain show’s attention to detail and quality of the build.
Thanks for another Sunday coffee with Humble Road ! Happy Thanksgiving George to you and family !🦃
The “outro “ is great. Lots of beautiful work in there!
It looks like they may be the safest as well. You don’t need to worry about one of them exploding in a van you’ve converted. Thank you so much for your response. I hope all is well with you!
😁You sir are engineering RV's on steroids and I love to watch your videos. Hopeful to one day own one if not custom built, one pre-owned. The way your mind works in designing these vehicles......masterpiece.
Every single video you post is an inspiration to me, George. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate your work and willingness to show us how it’s done. Thank you!!
Your videos are a huge assist in appreciation for the skeletal/guts of a van build. If someone enters a finished van....well if you know you know! Thanks George! Brilliant!!
Nice work George. New Jersey is lucky to have you; We're all lucky to have you... my mini-me is a snap to winterize. I love the ease of it and think they're great for seniors. Happy holidays
At 4:03, I thought, "Ooh, backrest, I covet--" and then you said "What am I putting together here?" Lol.
I covet that desk, too.
Can't wait to see the full Maxi-Me!
P.S. By your 8020 definition, I, too, am a kid in an adult body.
It's nice how the 8020 holds the batteries securely & provides ventilation. Your attention to both form & function with Integrity is a rare but valuable set of skills!
I’m in love with that walnut beauty! You always amaze me George. Your workmanship is astounding! ❤
Happy Sunday, George. Second one here. You got off on that tangent because you ARE a kid in a grown up body and can’t wait to start your erector set skills on the Maxi-me.😅. Your excitement is infectious. Those beautiful, functional, elegant components are what make your builds so special. Love the detail, quality, and flexibility. I also get ideas for mine when seeing your work on the other vans. The workmanship on that desk unit is beautiful for sure. I like Carol’s idea for elevating units on both ends of the bed. Might be something to consider in the Maxi-me if the bed is east-west allowing for some star-gazing and sunset/rise viewing when the rear doors are open. May need to have screens there for insect control though. I am looking forward to exploring ideas soon. ❤😊
Your team's immaculate craftsmanship isn't lost on me, George. It's what keeps me watching. Thank you for the content!
Even though I know you are making top notch conversions I was blown away by the walnut desk unit. What a beauty!
What exquisite work, George! Are you kidding? Every detail of each of your builds is acid etched into my brain. I don't miss a thing. I soak it up like ink on a blotter. You are the epitome of creative design and a genius with architecting space. Each of your videos is like a treasure trove I pick clean and watch obsessively till I get the whole thing in my head. I think our community here is one where we all have multiple skills which overlap each other when we are making something. Sewing, woodcraft, metal work, material science, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, structural... each skill set brings a fresh way of looking at another skill set. Its like when a painter writes poetry, or a poet paints. You see the colors in the words and the ideas in the colors. This is why I love your channel and craftsmanship so much. You set my mind on fire. Thank you for all you bring us every week. The gods could not do better.
fyi - If you ever do tile work, use MAPEI products (Lowes). They are an Italian company and make very fine products, same price as any other. For vans, use Polymer with their Thinset Mortar, and Grout Maximizer with Grout instead of water. This rubberizes the tile and nothing pops out with the van vibrations. The polymer for the grout also seals the grout so no sealer coat is required.
For backer board, use Schluter Kerdi board or membrane, or even Ditra which floats the tile floor for maximum vibration or movement. For wood floors, I found a great underlayment called Silent Silver/ Blue - closed cell neoprene 1/8" with a mylar foil on one side. Sound dampening, thermal break, moisture barrier, and vibration reduction, and inexpensive on Amazon.
Why am I mentioning this? Material science is everything when it comes to building for extreme conditions. It takes time and testing to find the right products. I tested these out - all excellent, in case you have a need for them.
Every time I think I have envisioned the perfect RV you find a way to improve it. I’ve been following RV trends for 50 years and no doubt you lead the way. The bad news is I keep delaying purchase because it seems a better idea is just on the horizon. The MIDI me is awesome, but I might hold out for a taller roof.
You should look into installing "Faraday Fabric" around the batteries to avoid all the electromagnetic radiation that the patron will be sleeping on top of. The Faraday fabric will shield the person who is sleeping so close to the batteries.
That workstation is next level...
What a dream to create these beautiful rides. 👍 👍
Amazing, as always, George. Thank you for taking the time to do these vids. Those of us that can't afford it, are truly grateful for the info, to do our own builds. I'm sure others have recommended that you expand your biz. The vans put out by the large manufacturers are so absolutely crappy, compared to the work you and your guys do and the quality of the components you use. Best of luck.
Beautiful detail. Shall I say exquisite.
Good morning! Stunning woodwork. 😊
Thanks George, your lesson plans are the best!
OMG...put me on the list! I love your work.
In case there was any doubt as to the legitimacy of the craftsman working at Humble Road, notice the Maxwell House coffee cans under the work bench...that's how you know these guys are the real deal!
I made those boom weights back in 1985 when I couldn’t afford to buy the actual weights to counterbalance a light boom. So those coffee cans are filled with concrete and an eye bolt with a washer and a nut buried inside. They still come in handy.
Amazing craftmanship!
The quality of your joinery and engineering is exceptional, which is quite apparent. However, I can't imagine the amount of planning and design iterations that must go into producing such magnificent solutions, but I guess it must be considerable. Perhaps you might enlighten us in a future video as I would be fascinated to understand the process of say one component from initial concept right through to the finished product. The desk you showed us is absolutely wonderful.
George link please for your bed "click clicks". Thanks .... love it!!
Stunning. Really stunning
Sunday is always better when a HR video is included. ❤
Excellent,” Master Guru” Humbleroad. Elegant workmanship quality.....
Beautiful craftsmanship. It's nice to know some people still take pride in their work.
A thing of beauty.
Good Morning George
Always Enjoy Your Sunday Morning Humble Road Videos .
Thanks For The 8020 Segment !!
Love Your Builds !!
Excellent work.
First one here. Good video as always!❤
Any updates on the square blocks project for 8020? Can't wait to order one!
14:31 oh ! appleboxes ! 😄
Great video , thanks
Every single time i watch your videos George i gain more and more information
MAGNIFICENT!!!!
Beautiful! Seeing the ingenuity behind the build leads to a greater appreciation for it. Learning is a wonderful thing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
As always Love It!
As alway - beautiful! :)
I don't belive that George is not German born :-) what a fachmann 🙂
With all of the technology and customization I don't know if I would characterize this build as "entry level".
Thank you. I am learning so much from your videos and I am very grateful for your knowledgeable experience and humour!
I'm continually amazed by your creativeness, ingenuity, and craftsmanship.
It's on another level.
GOOD REVIEW
Good morning George
I absolutely love the desk you designed. I always like to have a calendar up to keep track of stuff and I would hate to damage that beautiful veneer. I wonder can you hide a magnetic panel underneath the veneer so that a calendar, or anything else, could be hung up? I don't know anything about veneer.
Thank you Pamela. No, we can’t do anything like that with the veneer.
Sweet
George why do you torment me Mary and I have a 30 ft Airstream ime 68 she is 72. My hope before well you know you and your team can do some magic on our coach 👍🏋️♀️😃 you have given me such inspiration on all the projects here at home THANK YOU My FRIEND 16:28
Wow yeah that piece is absolutely beautiful. I wonder what your measurement process is like to prep for such pieces?? I've always had to have the vehicle here during the build process to account for all the strange curves and angles and little bumps etc...
I love your builds! What brand and where can I buy the bed recliner “click, clicks”? Thanks 😀
Been watching from the beginning. Great work! What is the part for holding the raised back called and is it 80/20?
Can you mention why you go for Lithionics Batteries as appose to Battleborn or Dakota? Thank you for all this great education!!!
I chose Lithionics because they were 100% American made. Their technology and circuitry are UL listed. No other battery is UL listed for RV life. And their customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced across all industries.
Sadly mini-me's and mid-me's are all discontinued in the US. I'd love to see you do a Sienna.
The used market will go on for a long while. I'm not sure the Sienna has the CCC for a build.
Another great video George ! Your workmanship is second to none! Just wondering...what was the name of the "click" or ratchet brackets you use when making the reclining bed in midi me? Thanks
Sandy
Love your contents.. always puts a smile on my face. Your humor is unmatched. Quick question. How did you choose the battery system that you use in your builds. Mostly curious about the battery brand. Thanks
In my opinion, Lithionics is the best made battery available. They sent over 750 batteries to Disney to power the floats in their main street parades not one was returned with a problem. Beyond that they are 100% US made.
And their customer service is excellent. I repeat, excellent!
Thank you for the quick reply and your honesty. Have a great weekend
❤❤❤❤❤❤
He's making a guillotine.😂😂😂😂
Fantastic job on the build and video. One question on the DC-to-DC charger. With over 600 aH of battery storage, you're only using a 30 amp DC-to-DC charger. If the batteries were drained, they would take over 20 hours of driving to charge. Have you looked into adding a second DC-to-DC charger or a different brand that produces more current? I do understand the quality of the Victron components and the way they all integrate together.
Do you understand the limitations of the chassis alternator? This van will have to use shore power to fully charge.
Hi George,
Been watching you for a while now and my van will soon be arriving. Unfortunately due to circumstances I won't have the tools or location to build it myself so I'm looking to get someone else to do an 80/20 build. Naturally, I would love for you to do it but I live in Australia. Do you know of anyone in Australia (Ideally near Sydney) that you would trust to do a good quality build? Do you have any connections down under? I'm finding it so hard to find good trades people these days and I never know who to trust. Perhaps that is an idea for a video? What to look out for when finding a company to fit out a van, red flags to avoid, etc. I'm currently dealing with someone who damaged my engine of my current car when he was 'cleaning' it and I really fear hiring someone that is incompetent for my new van.
Thank you for watching my channel and supporting me. It means a lot. Unfortunately I have no contacts in Australia. The closest I can get is I watch sailing La Vagabond on UA-cam! I wish you the best send pictures
@humbleroad. Great stuff, as always George. Curious about the inverters under the bed. Most larger inverters that I’ve come across generate a fair amount of heat, as well as noise (from cooling fans). Is this not an issue in your set up/ how do you deal with it? Thanks!
A 4 inch wool and memory foam mattress
George, at 15:37 it looks as though you made a modification for a Winnebago Rebel or do my eyes deceive me?
Yes, we did that bench build for a friend Barry, who works in the shop once a week. I’m not going to make a habit of working on any manufactured vans!
@@HumbleRoad that answers my next question. Thanks George!
Hey George, how can I order a couple of those 80/20 brace jigs you guys made using a 3D printer? ... I think your fee is being donated to cancer research ... maybe I missed your post on ordering them. Thanks!
We are not ready to put them up for sale just yet. Stay tuned I will announce on my channel
what's the correct term for a group of traveling mini-me's ?
A gaggle of gals
Maybe it's just me, but I cannot get comfortable with the idea of having all the electronics and electricals crammed directly under my bed. The thought of sleeping so close to the EM fields, and the (admittedly quite low) possibility of an electrical fail/fire just makes me nervous.
Just get some aluminum foil and lay it under the mattress
@@HumbleRoad lol
I know 8020 is generic name for your big kids grown up build it kit, is it mostly 30mm or 1 inch 8020 you use ? Never tire of your videos and often say to people “how did George do it ? “ thanks. Yes I built my coaster bus up using your technique. 👻
I use 10 series in the majority of the van. 15 series for the heavy duty areas like the bed garage.
What exactly are “click clicks?”
Click Clicks are brass bed risers. Everybody knows that! 😁
