I really liked that scene on the train. When Marin came to the realization of what Gojo meant when he referred to her as "beautiful" as in that she's something special to him, the scene cuts to the wheels of the train outside spinning faster, which is a obvious but well-used metaphor to represent Marin's immediate emotional reaction. I found that directing very well executed, personally.

My favorite part of My Dress Up Darling iz how they have such different definitions of vulnerability. Marin is open and honest about who she is (like with her interests and body) while Gojo willingly says his deepest emotions. Looking at their social background, with Marin having lots of friends and admirers and Gojo only having talked or hung out with members of his family, this makes perfect sense, but it means they’re constantly feeling embarrassed for one another, though their respect for one another keeps them from feeling like the other is embarrassing. They’re just so cute 🥰

When I first started reading the manga, I didn't expect it to be more than yet another ecchi series that I'll read as a guilty pleasure, but oh boy, was I wrong. The chemistry between Marin and Wakana is so good, and it just keeps getting better from here on. The show also makes me enjoy the parts that are about the difficulties of making clothes, which I never expected to be the case. If only the manga releases were a little more frequent.😇
I gotta say Chibi that at first, I wasn’t too invested in this anime. I am not that big a fan of this genre but you showed me that it is worth the watch. Especially with an episode like this. I have been to a couple of conventions to appreciate the cosplayers and their resolve to bring characters to life. And, I do hope to cosplay as either a video game or anime/manga character.
Broooo when she remembered that he only says something is beautiful or loves something only when he seriously and heartfeltly means it, and then saying it half asleep just shows how much she means to him subconsciously already aaaa! i hope theres more development with it and not just a bait 1 time thing where they tease romance. Idc if its not even romance. If it can go beyond just teasing romance and to actually making an interesting friendship or bond between 2 chars, its enough. When I watch this I just think of it as ecchi. Ecchi has ecchi in it so I literally dont care, plus its nice lmao. Its supposed to be ecchi but it actually works in the story so honestly idc how much they do it.

that's part of what made Interviews with Monster Girls so good too. the author didn't portray them as monsters, they portrayed them as normal people with their own unique differences and problems
Spoiler reply: I actually got somewhat upset by the time I red the festival arc because for such a long the the MC its just completely stuck in his head thinking that there's just no way in the World that they could become something and its full on in denial of the obvious, it just feels to me that the author knows that he hasn't got much else to add to the story once they get together and its just ignoring the elephant in the room after triggering her infatuation way too early into the story.

I hope the studio not only keeps including this high quality fanservice, but also does not shy away of showing everything the original have to show just because some people are complaining. If people don't want to watch just because they don't like the fanservice, fine, it's their loss, but to say it's a bad anime because it have fanservice is plain wrong, at least that's my thoughts on the matter, what do you think? do you agree Chibi? what about you guys? (Also, i love this moments when Marin gets flustered, it's nice to see someone straightfoward as her getting embarassed for a change, i'm looking foward to see how she behaves in the next episode)
@@ChibiReviews Well, they are wrong, there is alays something happening, even during the fanservice, like the measure part in episode 2, people that hink the show is only fanservice simply haven't watched it, and people that think the show would "be better without fanservice" don't understand that the fanservice is part of the show, it complements the show
As a person who loves to go to cons and cosplay, this is an amazing anime. I can totally relate to all of this happening. This anime is beautiful and takes me in a lot of wonderful emotions. When you bring these characters to life is an amazing feeling.
If you really understand what Gojo said - I will say it is beautiful only when I love something (or something along those lines) - he actually said that he loves her. Pure and simple that was a declaration. Well, yeah, he fell that way when she smile on him and he didn't know what happened. And at the end, as Chibi said - after all that pressure was going off of his shoulders the real emotions came true.
I could do without the fanservice tbh, it seems very pointless, especially since the characters are high schoolers. The MC isn't a creep so it's not weirding me out, yet.
Ugh I just started reading a little past where we are(no spoilers) and I am nervous about where we're going. It's only a very little bit past so I don't know really, I could be totally wrong and it could be just a short arc and not at all what I'm thinking. But I really hate when Rom-coms seem like they're going the way you are hoping and they take a hard turn and then you don't get back to where you want for 40-100 chapters. I'd MUCH rather stuff like Horiyama where they get together in S1 than have 200 Chapters before a confession, 50-100 for a kiss and god knows(or the end) before they end up together. Pleaaaase don't let this be like a Komi where it's snails pace.
A thought I had, while even if Gojo does have feelings for her, due to his complete lack of experience talking to anybody, it's going to be very difficult for him to actually recognize, or much less admit those feelings. I'm guessing Marin will probably recognize feelings much earlier than he will.
Spoiler Well... Your not wrong about marine being the first to realize it... And if that's what your waiting for you'll love the next episode ;) (hopefully it isn't cut cause that momment is quite the sight to behold)
That was some sakuga I didn’t know I needed there lol. And if people complain then I guess they really are almost hoping that she got heatstroke there since she was really sweating if we recall
INFO: The cosplay festival where they go, its a real festival that happens every year at Ikebukuro at the end of Spring. Its a small festival. There is a mall nearby (where they go to fix the dress) where you can find a Pokemon center too. Normally people go to take pictures of the cosplayers outside the mall and a small park that is just in front the mall (as you can see in the anime)
I kind of wonder if Gojou will ever put on a cosplay as well. I'd like to see them show up to event as some kind of duo heh. Kitagawa's reaction at the end was the best! :D
I like how the fanservice has purpose, that's pretty rare. It also feels natural, the way she doesn't think of it as a sexual thing for him to help her when she was sweating and the way he reacts nervously about it, but wants to help her and doesn't come off as a sleazy cliche nosebleeding idiot. They feel like real people with real emotions and I do think they only think of each other as friends so far (well Gojo might even think less because of his insecurities)
What Chibi mentioned about conventions really makes me think: It seems that games and cosplay exhibitions are really about the only public events that actually make strangers warm up to one another. You don't really see that in other forms of conventions because the opportunities to do simply aren't there.
I right there with you… I’m loving this series. I look forward to each week the same way when Nagatoro was airing. I’m trying to get my friends who watched Nagatoro with me to watch it also but they think its R rated lol. My description of the anime might have caused that lol
"It's about tally marks of how many times a certain individual has, let's say, did the balchika bow wow" ROFL ^^; Ok, that's a golden line right there !
Hopefully noone is calling it a "Fan service" anime tho. It's not even close to that, had some bikini stuff in one episode.. Big deal. Those people should check out To love-ru darkness or the new worlds end harem if they want to know ahat actual fan service anime look like
@@ChibiReviews Would be fun to have those people check out any anime in the ecchi genre tho. They would lose their mind if they consider alittle bit of bikini as outrageous
@@Draknalor186 To be fair, in the ecchi genre, people know that there's fanservice. I don't have a problem with fanservice if it has a purpose in the story. In Dress Up Darling, we're seeing this from Gojo's perspective, so I don't really have an issue if we see how he thinks. Another example is Dragon Maid S, and it's explained that the fanservice is actually tied in to the lore of the dragons. But the problem is that in most of the anime that is "not ecchi", they contain scenes that would definitely be in ecchi, and I'm just questioning what's the point in that.
Yes if a Kitagawa where to come along she could easily pull me out of my miserable life, but that the klishe I kindov dont like that in so many animes a guy gets a girl 'out of his legue' without looking for her. What I need to do is to go out and meet people until I do find that person.
How do you feel about the fanservice?
The best thing in anime for sure. Ecchi best genre!

That day marks the day my heart will never melt the same as that look on her face towards the end left a permanent mark on heart....🥺💀💀❤🔥
I could do without the fanservice tbh, it seems very pointless, especially since the characters are high schoolers. The MC isn't a creep so it's not weirding me out, yet.
I agree with this 100%
The fansevice is only a plus for what is already a great anime, so i can see the show without its fanservice ngl
There are more of that in the manga, so....🤷♀️
YEAH!!! it isn't about fanservice it's about "plot".
and the actual plot of course....
I agree with this 100 %
A thought I had, while even if Gojo does have feelings for her, due to his complete lack of experience talking to anybody, it's going to be very difficult for him to actually recognize, or much less admit those feelings. I'm guessing Marin will probably recognize feelings much earlier than he will.
Spoiler
Well... Your not wrong about marine being the first to realize it... And if that's what your waiting for you'll love the next episode ;) (hopefully it isn't cut cause that momment is quite the sight to behold)
Just can't wait for Volume 5 to come out. It sadden me that I have to wait till April.
I think this is the fastest one u review just after it aired
But yea it is really good
Its so good.....
It was so shocking she turned red when he said she was beautiful.
Blushing Kitagawa is precious
@@ChibiReviews hell yeah she is I can't wait for more of their funny loveable moments together.
Chibi, this anime is great and a joy to watch, but man you have to have a reaction video for Demon Slayer’s latest episode.
This anime is worth staying up late for. I love it so much 😍
I have a very close friend and she loves Cosplay, and she loves this series and she told me that you can get extremely warm in the costume
I kind of wonder if Gojou will ever put on a cosplay as well. I'd like to see them show up to event as some kind of duo heh. Kitagawa's reaction at the end was the best! :D
It was only one episode and few scens fan service shesh
The heart of the story is Slice of life
I like how the fanservice has purpose, that's pretty rare.
Man I went to watch ep5 just to watch this video. This is really fun.
"It's about tally marks of how many times a certain individual has, let's say, did the balchika bow wow"
ROFL ^^;
Ok, that's a golden line right there !
3:38 it is true infact i was worried the stinger smg wasnt gonna get nerfed but it did 😤
that is why i love anime so much, i laugh so hard at the final scene i was smiling non stop ;)
Well, after today's episode, I think that title barely can be taken serious hahaahaha. I still like the "PLOT" ;).
Hopefully noone is calling it a "Fan service" anime tho.
It's not even close to that, had some bikini stuff in one episode.. Big deal.
Those people should check out To love-ru darkness or the new worlds end harem if they want to know ahat actual fan service anime look like
Sadly many are
@@ChibiReviews Would be fun to have those people check out any anime in the ecchi genre tho.
I came for the fan service.... But I got wholesomeness......(≧▽≦)
Yes if a Kitagawa where to come along she could easily pull me out of my miserable life, but that the klishe I kindov dont like that in so many animes a guy gets a girl 'out of his legue' without looking for her. What I need to do is to go out and meet people until I do find that person.
@4:57 lmaao country ass. I said the same thing chibi 🤣🤣 one of the best and powerful episodes I've seen in awhile though man.
My country is showing
@@ChibiReviews I'm from North Carolina man so mines did too 🤣👍
Its not that I hate fanservice. Its just that there's too much of it being shoved into my face.
I agree with this lol🤣
But dont worry there are more of that "in your face" fanservice moments in the manga 😅
Tbh the show is still great without the fanservice, but whatever....🙄
