I was able to get out for an overnighter early last week. My plan was to get some live bait, cuttlefish, if possible, otherwise Yakkas or Herring, and then got and fish at Harries, with a lot of trolling thrown in. That was for day 1, beyond that my plans for the night and the next day where nebulous, to say the least. But making it up as you go can be part of the fun.

Bay is full of them (Grinners) from bribie red beach to Tanga’s Bulwer
Sure is. Hardly ever caught them in the first 30 odd years of my fishing life. But now, there seem to be more and more each year.
Good Vid I didn't see the new rod in that clip but it was a little hard to see. I too have only caught Spanish once in thirty years and it was at the hanlon light before the no fishing zones. It was just legal from memory.
I reckon we need to come up with a lure that grinners won't take, make a fortune!
Thank you. Hanlon light used to produce the goods back in the day (or more particuary, at night back in the day). I have fished it a few times in the last few years (outside the green zone) and it still produces but nothing like the size Snapper I used to get there. Still some decent fish of other species though.
I agree on the grinner lure, although they are not as annoying as they used to be now that I have discovered that the crabs like them.
Nice Vid! Have you ever used a grinner as a live/strip bait before? I haven't seen anyone doing it before.
I have tried it a few times. I have had a rod with a grinner strip out and a rod with bought bait and the grinner didn't even get a bite while I caught fish on the bought bait. Quite useless as a fish bait in my experience, however I have recently discovered that the sand crabs love it.
