I live in the boonies of Texas. You'd get a chuckle here. This is meat goat country and lots of folks have goat's, horses, and chickens in their yards. Warning, never honk at a chicken crossing the road. It will stop and stare at you. Then spend 5 minutes trying to remember which way it was going before returning to where it started.

There is SO MUCH more to the Faroes than a caravan - LOL! I have very fond memories of my trip a few years ago. The waterfalls are incredible, Mykines for Puffins was a great day trip. Incredible Faroese villages with picturesque vistas! A magical place.

That fish and chips looked incredible. And you walked it off on the Faroe Islands' admittedly non-horizontal surfaces! Excellent choices of food, destination and accommodation. I was waiting for an elaborate tour of all the caravan's amenities! Ooops I guess there weren't many. But it was comedy gold!

Spent a few days in the Faroes some years ago. Flew from Stansted to Copenhagen and Copenhagen to Vagar. I don't recall what the aircraft were on both legs. I rented a car and stayed in a holiday flat in a small settlement called Kollafjørdur. I was due to visit a family in Toftir, which I could see around 10 miles away across a couple f fjords -- but it was at least 50km to drive there. I also visited a friend in Klaksvik and found myself 'locked into' the town because the undersea tunnel was closed for maintenance. Luckily I could stay with my friend in Klaksvik's hospital accommation (he was a doctor). An amazing place to visit. The approach into the airport is quite stunning.

I've heard of it and have been. I quickly realised it was a harsh place to live. Not too bad in summer, but winter is savage. As they have no natural resources, relying on imported diesel for power generators, they built a windfarm for power and the windmills were blown over!
There was actually a caravan rally when we were there, hundreds of caravans in the field. I don't know why as whilst there are 18 islands (and there have been mad plans to have a golf course with a single hole on each one!) they all looked exactly the same to me! Like you found if you want to go away there aren't many hotels outside of the main towns, so caravans must be the alternative.

As a plane spotter and aviation fan, I was real looking forward to flying Atlantic. I did so roundtrip from Iceland at around the same time Noel travelled. Sadly, I was very disappointed by Atlantic's flight and ground crew. They seemed not wanting to be bothered, especially when I inquired about their helicopter services. The Faroes are a gem and its people are wonderful, however, Atlantic needs to improve, especially when it comes to their customer service.

July 2015 had an 8 hour lay over in Copenhagen on my way to Vilnius. I had blue skies and no rain the whole 8 hours I was there so maybe I caught a window of good weather.
