    Nice job. Here’s a tip for those brush bristle clumps. Drill some holes into an old wooden House Paint stirrer, or some scrap wood. 1/4” thick works well. Put some glue into the hole centers, but don’t let it touch the hole sides. Then pinch and stab the bristles into the holes. The edges will help hold the bristles erect. This also works with Static Grass as well. Then wait for the glue to dry to remove the wood. (This eliminates that extra step, of hiding the white Caulking.) For a splash of Color, tip the grass or bristles with a little glue, and dip them into fine grain, colored Sand. ( I find with most store bought static grass, the “Dustier” the sand grains, the better.) you can create quite the colorful Flower garden, or just some “wildflower” interest to an empty field. A bit of trial and error, and practice, you can even Model some specific types of flowers. ( my Favorite to make are Foxglove.) give it try, if you like, and keep modeling. 👍🏼😁

    Have a go using carpet tackifier as your glue, once it's set peel them off and you end up with a self adhesive tuft. Still flexible enough to mold to base textures.

      Wow good advice! I had go Google carpet tackifier but it sounds like a very useful product. Putting on my To Order list now. Thanks!

      Aw man I should have done a test on wax paper. Dang it! Pretty sure it will work tho. Just stay away from regular foil. Thanks for watching Joe - Bill.

    Vellajo has a thinner. I use model air sometimes I add the thinner.

      Good point Jon, I should have mentioned that. I actually don't thin the VMA at all. I do put a couple drops of their flow improver in the cup. Really seems to help. I struggled with shooting VMA at first, till I learned it was allergic to IPA. Thanks for your comment - Bill.

    So, you tried them all. What was your favorite? Did you say you didn’t use the nail but the static grass applicator still made the stuff stand up?

    • @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout
      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout  Рік тому

      For normal tufts - matte medium and parchment paper. For the taller bushes - DAP adhesive. And maybe it's just my applicator, but the grass stands up fine without the nail.
