I had a '96 with the four speed transmission and loved it. I rode it all over the country. It would purr like a kitten and ran great around 75 - 80 mph all day long! it's a comfortable bike to ride long distances for weeks! The engines are indistuctable.
I live in Chandler, AZ, just southeast of Phoenix. I have a bought new 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with 118,000 miles on it, been all over the country on it, had to pull the engine out once to replace the stator, and replace the defective automatic cam chain tensioners with aftermarket manual cam chain tensioners, otherwise no significant issues. Been to the Grand Canyon about 20 times. 90 degrees is a bit warm for me. It's tolerable but not comfortable. To me winter is riding season in AZ. I'd rather ride in 30 degrees that 115 degrees. I don't ride with a windshield. I tried it a few times decades ago, and gave up. They caused severe helmet buffeting, and I just didn't like trying to look through a dirty bug splattered piece of plastic, since my face shield was also dirty and bug splattered. Made it hard to see. I usually just stay in the right lane and around 65. I ride to relax. The cops will give you a speeding ticket until they meet their quota, then they usually don't care. Lots of fast food choices at Camp Verde.
I have a 2002 with 27,000 awesome bike I have the mustang seat could ride it across the country and your rear end would never be sore your arms get fatigued but nothing else

Yeah, I'm not a fan of windshields either. Wish I could live in Arizona and ride all the time!

My exact bike ~ 2005 Shadow Spirit... Great video thank you for posting your journey! M.

Floor boards make a difference on those Shadows especially with heel and toe shifters.
i found that the swwet spot on my 2000 1100 is around 75. seems to level off and run smooth at that speed
